Period after miscarriage

Hello, I had surgical management mid July and I'm losing the will to live waiting for my period.

I know that it can often take around 6 weeks to return but I have had very strong period cramps for the past 2 weeks and no sign of AF.

Have also had a few follow up scans which showed no issues.

My OPK results have also been wild- had a peak on 11/08 and then another almost peak on 20/08. Today they are fairly dark again. We haven't tried this month so not sure why I've done the ovulation tests, just for fun I suppose.

Does anybody have any experience similar to this??

@amyh2012, I finished my period a few days ago. Thankfully it was pretty normal, five days. I think the acupuncture helped a lot. I'm back to OPKs and continuing to temp. Ovulation in about a week, so fingers crossed. My partner's been very understanding throughout all of this and he's already on standby 😂. How are the rest of you?

@MegM14, just saw your post, Omigosh! Have you spoken to your doctor? It's normal to not be normal, but that seems excessive!

Sorry, mixed up @MegM14 and @Newgirl21! It's early here :) I thought you were having a never-ending period. After my MC I bled quite solidly for a week, then spotting for another week. But I've read many people say they bled longer than a week. I think it's the quantity that is the best indicator (more than a pad an hour). But listen to yourself and check in with doctor if you feel uncertain.

I'm entering my TWW and I just want to fast forward. The OPKS never seem to go that dark for me when I ovulate so CM and temp backed me a little so it sounds promising that we did everything we could when I feel like I ovulated! Will test in about 2 weeks. Keep everything crossed for me ❤️‍🩹

I phoned the Ward and they said as long as I wasn’t soaking through a pad every 45-60 mins then it shouldn’t be anything to worry about and it’s either delayed bleeding, or a period (very doubtful) Which I’m not so that’s a positive. I just wasn’t expecting to bleed this long. It’s my 30th bday tomorrow as well, really hoping a miracle happens overnight and I stop 🤞

My OPKs arrived from Amazon so will start tracking once I eventualllly stop bleeding 🤦‍♀️

Hi @MegM14 I had a similar experience after having surgical management and in my case the bleeding ended up being due to retained tissue. I was told it was normal to bleed on and off up to 3 weeks and to do a pregnancy test at this point, which in my case was positive so I went back to EPU to be scanned. It can be completely normal though so I'd just keep an eye on it but if it gets very heavy or your still testing positive after 3 weeks I'd contact your EPU to ask for a scan. Sorry for your loss.

@Newgirl21 amazing news! This is absolutely great news. Just think how ready your body will be now after it being so long, it's time for you to start tracking!
So I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I think I'm having some symptoms. I'm 7dpo and been cramping, just like af although 7 days from AF. Yesterday I felt stabbing pains, quite bad in my left side on and off for 10/15 mins.
CM was really really watery and now it's gone almost stretchy and clear, it's almost like ovulation cm but there's something different than the ewcm. I googled and it could be a sign of successful implantation which bodes will with the timing!
Oh I've been exhausted the last few days, napping after work which isn't usual.

Obvs I've tested and it's negative but only early. Please have everything crossed 🤞🏼

@Newgirl21 good news too! Are you testing using cheapie OPKs? I got the Amazon ones after the MC. The digital ones aren't recommended until a few cycles after. I'm sold now. They are very effective and a fraction of the cost.

I think the bleeding has finally stopped. Don’t want to speak to soon but today’s the first day without having to wear a bad and I’m just chancing it so will see!!!!

@Sdoubleyou For when I can start tracking I bought the cheap Amazon box of 60 OPKs. Would you say use these or digital ones??

@MegM14, in my experience the digital ones were useless after the MC. I got a solid smiley face right away (I had a few sticks left over from the last cycle I used them). I did some digging on the Clearblue site and they say to wait at least two normal cycles after a MC to start using them. The cheapies are great because the app (I use Premom with the easy@home strips) recognizes the concentration and automatically gives you a number. And your peak is easily identified overall. Your hcg levels need to go down enough before they're effective though, otherwise it could pick up the wrong hormone. But it doesn't have to go down all the way to zero. I was still testing very faint positive hcg and my strips were ok. Anyway, with so many you can afford to do a few useless tests ☺️

@Sdoubleyou. Thank you! I’m clueless when it comes to these! I’ll look in to the strips and app. I bought a box of Ovaview ones just cheap off Amazon!

My bleeding has finally stopped fully. Was spotting for a few days when I thought it had stopped but that seems to be it now.

Just for peace of mind I did a PG test this morning but it’s still showing positive . I’m maybe too early as Op was on the 14th 🤷‍♀️. I then did an OPK. It was positive as well.

Just want a clean start to start tracking etc 😩

I'm SO confused right now. So here's the story-

Going from the ovulation sticks I used when I fell pregnant I realised that my peak isn't actually that high. So I felt like I ovulated last week leaving me at 10dpo today.

Throughout that time I've had cramps, sharp pains, tiredness, you name it, I had it! Except for sore boobs which I didn't get first time round for a good while.

I have been testing with cheapies for a few days and they've been stark white but I've also kept up with my ovulation tests just to be sure.

So last night I got my highest ovulation test.... odd! This morning with FMU I did a pregnancy test and ovulation test with the same pee.

Here are my results....

Since that photo this morning I've done another pregnancy test and it's stark white 😩

Waiting for my Amazon order of first response to do tomorrow morning. I have had weird ewcm for a few days so would make sense to be ovulating buttttt I'm on CD26🤷🏼‍♀️

Help me out cos I'm going crazy and feeling so confused, I've been torturing myself for days

Also @MegM14 my PT was really faint positive for a little while after my surgery. It was negative after the 3week mark so hopefully you get the same and can start your journey tracking again ❤️‍🩹

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining - just wanted to add some extra evidence for periods being totally weird post-MC: I bled for 3 weeks on and off after my ERPC a month ago, so I asked for a follow-up scan 10 days ago which showed no retained tissue but a blood clot, so I had a course of antibiotics and the bleeding stopped.

The scan also showed a follicle gearing up for ovulation, but 1 week after the scan, I started spotting again. I thought perhaps it was ovulation bleeding but nope, full AF arrived yesterday (two days after the spotting started.)

No idea what happened to that poor follicle, my body doesn't know if it's ovulating or menstruating!

So turns out the dye leaked onto my PT from my OPK cos I held them together, how cruel is that.
Im going with the fact im only just ovulating because my cycles are so screwed from the MMC.

It's all so frustrating

@amyh2012, it's so annoying - all we want is to go back to "normal" so we can start the slog again, and even that takes ages! That PT leak is just extra shitty, I'm so sorry.

This whole thing is like a snakes and ladders board where the MC snake takes you back to a weird negative limbo state. Blergh.

I am trying to be positive about AF arriving I know some of the folks on the thread have had to wait ages for theirs, but part of me is wondering when on earth I'm going to ovulate next cycle - it feels like my lining and my follicles aren't in sync. Hormones, eh?
