Period after miscarriage

Hello, I had surgical management mid July and I'm losing the will to live waiting for my period.

I know that it can often take around 6 weeks to return but I have had very strong period cramps for the past 2 weeks and no sign of AF.

Have also had a few follow up scans which showed no issues.

My OPK results have also been wild- had a peak on 11/08 and then another almost peak on 20/08. Today they are fairly dark again. We haven't tried this month so not sure why I've done the ovulation tests, just for fun I suppose.

Does anybody have any experience similar to this??

@MiaGrace31, the absolute worst. We all know how you feel. Just keep telling yourself you'll get through it. It gets better, slowly, and with lots of ups and downs.

Amy is indeed our reminder that miscarriage isn't the end. Hopefully in 2022 we'll all start our journey to our rainbows. 🤞🤞🤞

MiaGrace31 · 26/01/2022 17:26

Thankyou, like I say even though I wouldn't wish these feelings on anyone it's nice to no I'm not alone. Yes 🤞 for us all ♥️ the thought of holding my rainbow baby in my arms is what keeps me going XXX

amyh2012 · 26/01/2022 22:04

@MiaGrace31 thank you lovely 🥰

it's so tough, I remember waiting and waiting and waiting for my period. I lost myself down the rabbit hole that is the internet googling everything. It doesn't help, I wound myself into a frenzy. Your body will do what it wants on its own timings, there's nothing you can do but wait I'm afraid. But once that gruelling wait is over you can start to try and get back on track with your cycle.
Be kind to yourself 💗💗💗

Sdoubleyou · 27/01/2022 01:26

@MiaGrace31, sorry you're here! I had an MMC in July and about a month later had 10 days of spotting. I remember being completely upside down not knowing what was going on. When I look back on it though, it ended up being a new cycle. The dates fit, but I didn't know it then.

Like @Shortmamashortcycles said, a miscarriage unfortunately is a longer event than doctors prepare you for. Every month feels like an eternity because you relive the pain of loss. But it will happen again. A close colleague (who had a lot of fertility issues) told me that the hard thing about it is that you WILL have a baby, you just don't know when that will happen. I try to tell myself that when I feel the despair. And definitely talking to others who know what you're going through helps a whole ton.

Hi everyone hope your all doing well. 💕
Sorry it’s been a while since logging on, been dealing with a household of Covid 🙈🦠 and now I got it too 👎🏻 Hope everyone else is staying safe.
I’m sorry that you find yourself here @MiaGrace31 😔 the support of this forum has been very helpful to me I hope your able to find comfort and support too 💕
@Sdoubleyou I hope your doing well and glad your tests went ok, sorry about your hubby’s sample 🙈
I have to be honest that last negative test hit me hard- all the signs were there. I was so sure. I’m Just gonna keep pushing though and take each cycle as it comes 🌟

MiaGrace31 · 27/01/2022 10:11

@amyh2012 I have also found myself non stop googling it really is doing me no good like you say its falling down a rabbit hole. Spoke to the GP again this morning, who tried her best to reassure me that this is all completely normal and all related to hormonal changes etc.She also said they wouldnt start investigating till after 6 months. I just honestly thought my body would bounce back but it obviously has other ideas. Guess now its all just a waiting game like you say.

@Sdoubleyou your so right it has been a much longer event then what the drs prepared me for, Im not sure if thats what has contributed to the anxiety as I wasnt aware that it can take months to get back to normal. Yeah that is a good way to think, im going to start telling myself its not that it wont happen again its just that I dont know when :)

@Newgirl21 yeah I have already found comfort in being able to talk to others who understand how hard this all is. You all seem like lovely ladies, thankyou all so much for responding to me:)

Shortmamashortcycles · 27/01/2022 10:49

@Newgirl21, the last cycle totally broke me, I have to admit. I was convinced I was pregnant because, like you, I had all the signs. The negative test and AF arriving broke any illusions I had that this would be a quick fix.

So sorry to hear you and the family have covid! I hope none of you are too poorly and you've got good support. Sending you all the low-viral-load-negative-LFT vibes I can.

Newgirl21 · 27/01/2022 17:18

Thanks @Shortmamashortcycles. Thankfully the family are ok now and my symptoms aren’t too bad so far (Day 3)
I’m so sorry to hear of your recent negative test- it really is heartbreaking. Hoping we both get better luck on our next cycle 💕

Newgirl21 · 04/02/2022 14:28

I am freaking out 😳😳😳
I’m finally free after Covid, my day 10 was yesterday. Still have a faint line on Covid tests and feel awful.
Realised my period is due, my boobs hurt, I had slight cramps… took a pregnancy test literally an hour ago and it’s positive. Now I’m freaking out, what if Covid is making me have a false positive (is that even possible) could something be wrong with the baby due to having Covid 😳

Shortmamashortcycles · 04/02/2022 16:26

Oh my goodness @Newgirl21!!! This is amazing news! What a line - how many DPO are you?

It's definitely not possible for COVID to give you a false positive, it doesn't make you generate HCG...

So sorry you're feeling rubbish but DON'T WORRY about the baby - it's not using your blood supply yet and if you don't have a fever any more, it's not going to cause a problem. Just take care of yourself and rest up.

Anxiety is part of pregnancy after loss (or so I hear) so it's normal to worry - we're here for any panicky moments.

I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU, HOORAY!!!!

Newgirl21 · 04/02/2022 17:11

Thanks @Shortmamashortcycles, honestly I haven’t even told my hubby yet. Waiting him to come back from work. I’m so shocked and anxious.
That’s reassuring about the baby not using my blood supply yet, thank you.
I don’t even know how many DPO I am 🤷🏻‍♀️ I didn’t bother tracking anything through December and January, my last period ended on 9th Jan so after then the hubby caught Covid on 19th and we’ve not been able to ‘go’ since. I thought this cycle was a right off 😮

Thank you so much for your kindness 💕
Fingers crossed your rainbow isn’t far behind x x x

Shortmamashortcycles · 04/02/2022 17:17

@Newgirl21, probably wise not to track, and it really doesn't matter when you ovulated because everything goes from first day of your period now. I am honestly thrilled for you, you've had such a rubbish time.

If there were a way to guarantee you a healthy and easy next 9 months I would love to do it, but for now, at least the whole family has loads of protection against another round of covid, and once that little bean is hooked up to your blood supply they'll get lots of nice covid antibodies too.

I hope your husband gets home soon so you can share your news! ❤❤❤

amyh2012 · 04/02/2022 19:43

Omg so I was just finishing tea and thought, I've not logged on here for ages, I'm gonna see what's going down.

HOLY SHIT!!! @Newgirl21 I'm so so so so happy for you 🥲 what fantastic news for you, ah I'm just so happy for you.

Please don't worry about Covid affecting the baby, little bean will be absolutely safe tucked away in there.
Maybe you weren't feeling so rubbish cos of Covid? You just related it cos you were positive??

Congratulations 🥳

Newgirl21 · 04/02/2022 23:31

Thank you @amyh2012 😊
I think you may be right, I was definitely worse with Covid than the rest of my family and it totally explains the tiredness.
@Shortmamashortcycles the hubby was happy, nervous and cautious but then immediately told his mum (it’s her birthday) he proceeded to buy a clear blue with the dates. I’m 2-3weeks on there.

Thanks so much your well wishes and support girls 😘 x
Hope your all keeping well x x

amyh2012 · 10/02/2022 17:58

How you getting on @Newgirl21 xx

Newgirl21 · 10/02/2022 18:48

I’m doing ok thanks @amyh2012.
The sickness hasn’t kicked in yet, just super tired.
I’ve told my employer about the pregnancy today so that I’m exempt from any lifting. Just trying to be as cautious as I can. I don’t feel like I’m able to get excited yet, I’m cautiously happy…
How are you doing? Hope your keeping well 😊 x x

amyh2012 · 10/02/2022 20:50

@Newgirl21 so pleased you're doing well ❤️ I've been keeping you in my thoughts. Hope your sickness doesn't get too bad, although I found it quite comforting in a weird way.
I'm good thanks, I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow, it seems to be going so quickly now 😌

Newgirl21 · 10/02/2022 21:01

16 weeks, wow! 🥳 that’s brilliant. I’m sure it’s flew by.
Thank you ☺️ I hope I will also be able to find some comfort in it 😂 x

Shortmamashortcycles · 14/02/2022 17:25

Hello all, a little update from me - went for a private investigation today and immediately the sonographer asked me if I'd had a surgical intervention. She suspects I have uterine adhesions which are affecting implantation. 😭

The good news is that I've got lots of eggs and healthy ovaries, but feeling a bit daunted by the prospect of potential surgery and follow-up to try to correct it. Yet more delays.

This seemed like a safe place to vent, sorry ladies.

Sdoubleyou · 14/02/2022 22:09

Oh I missed a lot! I've been trying to come on less frequently and give myself a little break.

Congrats @Newgirl21, I hope this is the one!! @amyh2012, hope you're doing well, you're in my thoughts.

@Shortmamashortcycles, I feel your pain, every delay feels like an eternity. I hope they're able to fix the problem quickly.

We've gotten our results and on paper my DP and I are very fertile. I'm closer to late 20s with hormone levels and follicles and all that. It's a really big relief. Somethings not catching though so I'm on letrozole 5mg this month. Should ovulate this weekend. We decided to try just hormones for a couple of months before going to IUI. I'm sure it's going to happen soon enough though. I think my attitude has gotten better.

Thinking of you all, Happy Valentines Day lovely ladies!

Sdoubleyou · 14/02/2022 22:10

Also @Shortmamashortcycles, always a good place to vent!

Newgirl21 · 15/02/2022 14:04

Oh @Shortmamashortcycles I’m so sorry your having such a rubbish time, this really is such a long and draining process, I really hope they can get things moving smoothly and quickly.

@Sdoubleyou what a relief for you, hopefully those added hormones will give you a little boost 🤞🏻x x

amyh2012 · 15/02/2022 21:59

@Shortmamashortcycles I'm sorry you're going through this. As if the surgical management wasn't hard enough it's now still effecting you and your future 🥺the good thing is, you can fix it and know that that was the problem. Sounds like you're in great health otherwise. Good luck with it lady 💓

@Newgirl21 great news! It sounds like your real positive about it and so you should be, it's amazing news! 💓 good luck to you too.

Thanks for checking it ladies, we had a 16 week scan over the weekend and found out we're having a baby boy 💙

@Sdoubleyou how are you feeling?

Obviously got my people the wrong way round 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ can I blame baby brain??? Embarrassingly enough I can't figure out how to delete and restart.

Sorry ladies, no offence meant I'm just very tired this evening and got a little confused 😂🤦🏼‍♀️🥴

Sdoubleyou · 02/04/2022 12:43

Hi ladies, I hope you're all well! I've had you in my thoughts the last couple of months.

It's been alright over here. The due date was in Feb and it felt like things got a little easier afterwards (mentally). I've been on letrozole for two cycles and this just happened! I thought I would share with you since you've been there with me for this loooooooong journey. I really hope it sticks. Much love to you all!
