Period after miscarriage

Hello, I had surgical management mid July and I'm losing the will to live waiting for my period.

I know that it can often take around 6 weeks to return but I have had very strong period cramps for the past 2 weeks and no sign of AF.

Have also had a few follow up scans which showed no issues.

My OPK results have also been wild- had a peak on 11/08 and then another almost peak on 20/08. Today they are fairly dark again. We haven't tried this month so not sure why I've done the ovulation tests, just for fun I suppose.

Does anybody have any experience similar to this??

I love that! £2.50 a wee Grin thanks for asking about us. I'm ok thanks, still not a sign of AF. Also, solid negative PT now so I'm just getting so frustrated waiting to come on!!! I've kinda got my head around not being pregnant so I'm waiting patiently to try again. Hurry up AF. I did the biggest order of vitamins for us both and pre seed lube 😂😂😂 fingers crossed for you guys xxx

Oh also, so we don't get down about not falling pregnant this time we're just about to cook fillet steaks and have a glass of wine 🍷

Newgirl21 · 03/09/2021 21:10

So I literally just found out my best friend is pregnant. I’m so happy for them, like over the moon💕 however as soon as I saw her scan picture my heart broke- remembering being in that room on my own and seeing my baby unformed and without a heartbeat. Gosh just when I think I’m healing boom… I feel like I’m straight back at square one.

amyh2012 · 04/09/2021 07:18

@Newgirl21 I'm sorry girl- it must be so hard for you. Little things creep up on you when you least expect it. Did your friend know about what happened to you?

Newgirl21 · 04/09/2021 07:57

Thanks @amyh2012, your right it certainly does. 😔
Yeah, she knew and has been so supportive.
She held off on telling me as she didn’t want to be insensitive but wanted me to know before she announced it or started to show. She really is the best and after being told she’s never naturally conceive it’s her second miracle 💕
I’ve decided to put my negative energy into something productive and start working out, I hear it can do wonders for mental health and fertility so fingers crossed. x

amyh2012 · 04/09/2021 08:04

That's really good of her and it's nice that she considered your feelings. I hope she has a healthy pregnancy and I hope it happens for you soon. I'm sure it will!
Working out sounds like a great idea! Positive vibes for you @Newgirl21 💓

HP123 · 04/09/2021 09:12

@Newgirl21 I'm sorry, it must be really hard for you but I'm so pleased that she's supportive and aware of what you've been through.

I know how you feel, have a few family babies due any day now and I'm not sure how I will handle it.

How is everybody getting on in terms of waiting for period? I've been using internet cheapies for the past few days so that I can check they're negative and I can be sure if a new line appears it's a new pregnancy. I'm sure I can see a line today, can anybody else? It would only be 8dpo x

Thanks @HP123,
Ive been getting a few more cramps but still nothing definitive.
I can definitely see a faint line 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Fingers crossed for you hun. I’ve had a few problems with evap lines on those tests and needed to confirm with a clear blue.
I really hope this is positive for you ☺️ x

amyh2012 · 04/09/2021 09:27

@HP123 I can certainly see it!
I don't want to put a downer on it, this happened to me as well, it was a similar kind of time and now it's changed and im getting negatives and it's been 6weeks and 3 days since the surgical management and still nothing 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have an occasional cramping and back ache so I'm waiting for my period to arrive but it's showing no signs 😩😩 it's so frustrating isn't it. I hope it's different for you and this turns into a strong dye stealer in a week or so! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

HP123 · 04/09/2021 09:47

I'm definitely not getting my hopes up but at least I know I've not just got a bad case of line eyes.

@amyh2012 have you started using OPKs? It might help to give you a better idea of where you're up to. I had a peak 3/4 weeks after the miscarriage and then another last Friday which is why I'm being a bit hopeful. If the line doesnt get darker then I think I should be expecting a period a week today x

Yeah I do use them but kinda fell off it a little this month, I was struggling with it but going to give it my all next cycle!

It's exhausting on your emotions doing them and PT and not getting anywhere isn't it!

Newgirl21 · 06/09/2021 19:50

Mother Flow has finally arrived after 10weeks. 🎉

Newgirl21 · 06/09/2021 21:08

@HP123 did you take another test?

HP123 · 07/09/2021 10:19

Hey @Newgirl21 , Wow 10 weeks!! How do you feel about it? Has it been heavier than usual?

I've carried on testing just with the cheap ones but very faint although the line today showed up immediately. They are 25ml and my bloods last week showed 13ml so either it's new hcg or the tests are just up the wall. Also did an FRER yesterday which is still a positive so waiting 48 hours to do another to see if it is going up or just residual hcg. What a pickle!

Brilliant- my fingers tightly crossed for you @HP123! All sounds good. ☺️
Yeah it’s started off over the weekend tiny visible marks but since yesterday it’s heavy. The cramps are awful, I’m relived it’s here to be honest but I’ve been super emotional but now we can quietly start trying again. I’m glad my bodies getting back to ‘normal’

HP123 · 07/09/2021 10:36

@Newgirl21 well hopefully it won't last too long and then you can have a fresh start.

Here are my tests, feel free to tell me I've lost the plot but I'm sure the last two are slightly darker. My sense of smell is wild today too

Also did one yesterday afternoon rather than fmu to check if they're just Evaps but that was almost completely white just a tiny hint of a line

@HP123 I can definitely see faint lines and they do look darker in the last two 😬🤞🏻🤞🏻

amyh2012 · 07/09/2021 13:29

@Newgirl21 my period finally arrived too! 6 weeks and 5 days after my surgery. I'm not too bad in terms of pain or heavy flow but like you, relieved to be back to 'normal' and happy to start trying again.

amyh2012 · 07/09/2021 13:29

@HP123 good luck girl 🥰🧿

Newgirl21 · 07/09/2021 20:29

Glad your doing ok @amyh2012 ☺️ Wishing you lots of luck this cycle 🤞🏻

Sdoubleyou · 09/09/2021 03:30

Hi all, hope it’s alright if I join in. I had a MMC mid July and had it medically managed. I was 9 weeks but baby was measuring at 7 weeks with no heartbeat. All went well for the actual MC, but it’s been the longest two months of my life since. About a month later I spotted for 10 days, which I’ve chalked up to AF because I had cramping and crazy hormones afterwards. I’ve seemed to have ovulated last week, but had bleeding around then and on-off spotting since. Bananas. Anyways, it seems like we’re in this shit boat together and it’s comforting to give and get support.

HP123 · 09/09/2021 10:21

@Sdoubleyou sorry to hear of your loss, the wait is horrendous isn't it. Have you spoken to your gp or epu as a friend had very light periods after her miscarriage last year and she was able to go back for scans to check for any scarring.

@Newgirl21 @amyh2012 my period has arrived today so I'm with you girls now! Not too painful so far but was sat working had a funny pain in my groin went to the loo and it had started. Usually I have pains for 2/3 days before so fingers crossed for nothing too bad. Hope you are both doing okay x

amyh2012 · 09/09/2021 10:28

@Sdoubleyou hey! I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through, it's so shit but we are all here in the exact same boat as you! It's so frustrating being in the unknown and just waiting around for something to happen. Nobody tells you about the mental torture of the 6 weeks after waiting for your period. It's hell! People assume it's all done after your have had the surgery or the medication and it's far from it!

I'm glad I have this little thread as it shows not everything is done by the book and everything that's supposedly not normal, is actually normal!!

Good luck for your journey 🤞🏼

@Newgirl21 hope you're ok today too! At least we know where we are in our cycles now and we can really try properly
