Period after miscarriage

Hello, I had surgical management mid July and I'm losing the will to live waiting for my period.

I know that it can often take around 6 weeks to return but I have had very strong period cramps for the past 2 weeks and no sign of AF.

Have also had a few follow up scans which showed no issues.

My OPK results have also been wild- had a peak on 11/08 and then another almost peak on 20/08. Today they are fairly dark again. We haven't tried this month so not sure why I've done the ovulation tests, just for fun I suppose.

Does anybody have any experience similar to this??

Thank you both @Shortmamashortcycles and @Newgirl21. I honestly can't even believe I'm typing it! It's crazy. Oh of course, I'll keep you updated. You guys have been amazing to have to talk to! I'm not going away that easy! I'll still be on here tracking you guys and keeping in touch ❤️❤️❤️

Sdoubleyou · 18/11/2021 23:45

@amyh2012 hell yes you needed to share that with us!!! Congrats! We've shared our suffering and we also need to share our joys! It's been a long few months, I'm happy you've gotten your good news. Praying for smooth sailing for you. ❤️

amyh2012 · 19/11/2021 11:08

@Sdoubleyou thank you lovely 🥰

It all feels a little surreal, my progression lines are looking quite satisfying right now and I can't stop looking at them 🥺 it's all a bit surreal really. Here's hoping in a couple of months all of us will be sharing pregnancy stories together, how amazing would that be! 🤞🏼💛🌈

Sdoubleyou · 22/11/2021 01:36

@amyh2012, that’s the dream!

Newgirl21 · 22/11/2021 19:50

Hey guys, so I finally had my scan 🤗 she confirmed by looking at the picture that it was pregnancy tissue but couldn’t be sure if it was retained tissue from the D&C or a second miscarriage. She checked me out and said everything looks healthy and could tell that I’m currently ovulating. So thankfully everything is in order which is a relief.
Hope everyone’s doing well 🤞🏻☺️

Shortmamashortcycles · 22/11/2021 20:50

@Newgirl21, hooray for finally getting your scan! Did the midwife say you could try this cycle or should you wait for the retained tissue to clear?

Newgirl21 · 22/11/2021 21:55

Thanks @Shortmamashortcycles. Everything has come away and I’m ready to go! 😉💪🏻My womb lining is thin and things are finally back on track 🎉

Shortmamashortcycles · 22/11/2021 22:09

@Newgirl21, hooray! What a flipping saga, so pleased you got the all clear. ❤😁

amyh2012 · 23/11/2021 12:30

@Newgirl21 this is great news!!! 👏🏼🥰 so pleased for you. Time to smash it 👏🏼👏🏼

Sdoubleyou · 23/11/2021 22:36

@Newgirl21, oh that’s wonderful news! It must be such a relief to know that everything is alright. Have fun smashing it!!

Shortmamashortcycles · 30/11/2021 14:16

@Sdoubleyou, @Newgirl21 - just checking in - I hope you're both doing well! How are you feeling now?

@amyh2012, really hope things are progressing uneventfully and smoothly!

I am finally in a month where both me and OH are in the same place and not working all hours... and my cycle has gone wonky. On CD9 and suddenly cramping and spotting / passing bits of tissue. So much for our first decent try post MC. 😔

It's an extra kick because I just turned down a great job because I'd need to stop trying for 4 months or risk losing all my maternity leave benefits. I consoled myself that maybe in a month I'd be pregnant... but nope. Grrr...

amyh2012 · 30/11/2021 20:19

@Shortmamashortcycles hey girl! Thanks for checking in 🥰 all good thanks, so far so good! I'm 5 weeks and 2 days today, not really any symptoms to be honest, I kinda wish they were full on as I'm petrified im not actually pregnant 😩 I can't win!!

Oh no, that's awful, I'm so sorry this has happened! I hope it clears up soon and you get back on track. There's nothing worse than not knowing where you're up too with your cycle. I hate things out of your control!! 🥺

Sdoubleyou · 01/12/2021 22:34

@Shortmamashortcycles, I know how excruciating that can be. The first two months after my MC my body was all over the place. I had breakthrough bleeding, spotting, the works. A doctor friend told me it’s the body trying hard to get back to normal, but it’s a small comfort when you’re trying to TTC and get on with life.

I’m 2DPO and doing alright. It’s a big comfort that if it doesn’t happen soon we’ve got tests booked. If I get my period in mid-Dec and again in mid-Jan, we’re going for help. Knowing that I only have to endure a month and a half of agony (maybe) is very liveable. But as always, fingers crossed that we don’t have to get there.

Shortmamashortcycles · 01/12/2021 22:52

@Sdoubleyou, you posted at the perfect time... turns out my weird bleeding was in fact a very early miscarriage. I'm literally looking at the faint positive line that confirms it. Not really sure how to feel... at least it's an explanation, I guess.

Having tests in the diary is such a mental relief, I agree. It's that sense of potentially getting answers. I really hope you don't need them, though. If I had any successful implanty vibes, I'd be sending them your way, but clearly I'm out of stock!

@amyh2012, I'm so happy you're feeling good - don't wish for pregnancy nausea, it's the WORST. Hope you keep on gliding through, love.

Sdoubleyou · 01/12/2021 23:20

@Shortmamashortcycles, oh no! I’m so sorry that’s happening.

Newgirl21 · 02/12/2021 13:18

@Shortmamashortcycles I am so sorry that you are going through this again 😔 huni don’t try to put too much thought into what you should be feeling and just - feel, take all the time you need and mourn 💕 I’m sending lots of love your way.

I’ve recently been feeling a lot guilt- for not grieving my second loss and not knowing I was pregnant or miscarrying- like my baby had to do it alone. Silly I know!

My thoughts are with you hunny. x

Sdoubleyou · 03/12/2021 19:46

@Newgirl21, I totally understand that. It's not a rational thing, it's just feelings that pop up. I went through similar (and still have it come up sometimes) about the way I "disposed" of my baby during my MC. There's a lot of trauma in a MC and I think it's normal to have different issues come up, and a lot of guilt and sadness. Big hugs xx

Shortmamashortcycles · 03/12/2021 21:32

@Newgirl21, thanks love. As the hormones have subsided, I've been going up and down a bit. I'm so sorry you've been feeling guilt - I know you know rationally it's not your fault, but it can be really hard to accept emotionally.

@Sdoubleyou, hugs to you too hun, hope you're doing ok too.

Sending you all lots of love and some festive cheer - we're most of the way through Chanukah and the Christmas tree goes up tomorrow. Looking forward to putting 2021 behind me! 😁🌲

amyh2012 · 04/12/2021 08:02

@Shortmamashortcycles I'm so sorry 😞 it's so awful and I have no words for how you must be feeling. It doesn't half mess with emotions being on this journey.

@Sdoubleyou I'm glad you're feeling a little more optimistic and you can rely on the tests if it doesn't happen before then.

Thinking of you all loads 💗

Sdoubleyou · 13/12/2021 18:09

Just a little update. AF is a solid two days late but BFNs. I don't know what's going on, I'm always very regular and there's really no sight of her. Maybe I ovulated later the CD17 that OPKs were indicating. Who knows. Either way, we're going for testing and treatments in January so hopefully they'll pump us full of hormones and make it happen! Hope you're all well!

Shortmamashortcycles · 13/12/2021 20:29

Well done for hanging in there @Sdoubleyou! Come on January and modern medicine.

I'm in a weird cycle limbo - feels like my body has been trying to ovulate for a week so who knows when AF will show up.

@Newgirl21, hope you're back to normal cycles and having a smooth TWW?

@amyh2012, hope all is progressing well!

Newgirl21 · 13/12/2021 22:07

I’m glad you have an appointment through @Sdoubleyou 🙌🏻 Fingers crossed it can help get things moving along ☺️
@Shortmamashortcycles I hope your doing ok lovely, hopefully your cycle goes back to normal soon.
I’m doing ok, taking the pressure off of TTC and just focussing on my mental health, exercise, Christmas and escaping Covid (which seems to be everywhere 🙈) my 4 year old came home from school with a picture of me and a baby in my tummy- for one day when ‘we can try to grow a new baby’ - that was quite difficult 😢 especially with what would have been my due date approaching.
My cycle seems to be back to normal..,finally! 🙌🏻 Just tree along things day by day tbh. Hope your all well ☺️ Sending positive thoughts and socially distanced hugs

Sdoubleyou · 15/12/2021 14:43

AF finally showed up yesterday, I'm a little relieved. Was about to get out the DP auger 😂. It wasn't so bad finally, 31 day cycle instead of the regular 29.

@Shortmamashortcycles, I hope the hormones have settled. It's so frustrating waiting for the body to recalibrate.

@Newgirl21, my heart goes out to you. My due date is mid-Feb and I'm trying not to think about it.

We're going on holiday for a week then we're off for another week. I'm hoping the time off will do is some good. Also hoping that everyone's advice about vacation and TTC proves true, but the tests are happening soon if it doesn't work out. Honestly, I really didn't think we'd have to get to that stage but I've been much more accepting of this the last few weeks.

Thinking about you all and sending you big ol' real hugs, pandemic be damned!

Shortmamashortcycles · 16/12/2021 07:58

@Sdoubleyou, enjoy your holiday!

@Newgirl21, My due date is early March which is going to be rough. My daughter also started coming home from nursery in September saying "mummy got a baby in her tummy," which was brutal. My fault for mentioning the pregnancy to one of the nursery staff just before the fateful 12 week scan.

In other news - think I've finally ovulated but have also just tested positive for COVID! 2021 truly is the gift that keeps on giving. Now terrified my husband or daughter have caught it, as that would really scupper Christmas.

Sdoubleyou · 16/12/2021 18:29

@Shortmamashortcycles, that's brutal! This year just needs to end. 2022 is our year! Let's go!
