Period after miscarriage

Hello, I had surgical management mid July and I'm losing the will to live waiting for my period.

I know that it can often take around 6 weeks to return but I have had very strong period cramps for the past 2 weeks and no sign of AF.

Have also had a few follow up scans which showed no issues.

My OPK results have also been wild- had a peak on 11/08 and then another almost peak on 20/08. Today they are fairly dark again. We haven't tried this month so not sure why I've done the ovulation tests, just for fun I suppose.

Does anybody have any experience similar to this??

I've managed to resist testing! I think I could even go all the way this cycle, but I want to have wine tomorrow if not pregnant. Hope everyone is well!

Shortmamashortcycles · 12/11/2021 06:41

@Sdoubleyou, amazing willpower hun! Been thinking of you - if you fancy some wine today, does that mean you'll test? All fingers crossed over here.

HP123 · 12/11/2021 07:57

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing okay. I have been coming on to read how you are every so often but haven't managed to keep up.

Thanks for thinking of me @amyh2012 I had a period early September and fell pregnant that cycle and am now just over 9 weeks. It's very scary this time.

How are you all doing? X

@HP123 this is amazing news! Congratulations 🎉 I'm soooo happy for you.

Any tips and please don't tell me you just relaxed 😂😂

HP123 · 12/11/2021 13:07

@amyh2012 don't have any tips unfortunately, we were actually on holiday during my fertile window but we definitely weren't relaxed about trying!

How are you getting on? I've completely lost track! X

@HP123, congrats! I hope your upcoming scans provide some peace of mind and that everything goes smoothly for the next 8ish months. ❤

amyh2012 · 12/11/2021 17:34

@HP123 oooh maybe I'll have to book a holiday 😂

I wish you a healthy pregnancy 🤞🏼❤️
I'm on 5 DPO and hit an all time low of doing a cheapie yesterday and the grand old 4 DPO🥴 I'm so ashamed Hahaa in all seriousness I did actually have my best ovulation tests this month and had a few twinges here and there. I'm really hoping that this is my cycle 🤞🏼

Going to try and hold out until at least Monday for my next test 🤣🤣 (yeah right)

Sdoubleyou · 12/11/2021 22:01

BFN again for me. Hope you ladies have better luck this month. I'm off to drink my sorrows now.

amyh2012 · 13/11/2021 06:47

@Sdoubleyou 😔 I'm sorry it wasn't a bfp for you. Enjoy that wine, you deserve it 🥺

Shortmamashortcycles · 13/11/2021 07:34

@Sdoubleyou, oh love, I'm sorry. Hope you had some really good wine AND some chocolate. Sending you a virtual hug!

Sdoubleyou · 13/11/2021 14:03

Thanks ladies, it's really wonderful having this little support group. This one was particularly rough.

Although we finally got some BFP happiness on this thread. Congratulations @HP123 ! I really hope your pregnancy goes well. Everyone here is rooting for you!

Shortmamashortcycles · 15/11/2021 15:22

@amyh2012, how are you doing? 9DPO, right? Hanging in there?

@Sdoubleyou, hope you had an ok weekend and aren't feeling too rubbish. Also hope AF isn't being too much of a witch...

Sdoubleyou · 16/11/2021 14:05

Getting my period this month was the toughest so far. It's been four months now since the MC and it's dawning on me that it might take a little while. It's restarted the grieving process since I'd been holding myself together by thinking we'd get pregnant quickly again like the first time. But better it comes out. I've also realized that I have really strong hormonal surges (or drops), especially around my period. I go into what feels like a depression. I usually ride out the few days that it lasts, but it's harder when you're legitimately sad. Coming out of it now, but yowza! Had a total meltdown Friday night. At least AF was a day earlier, so gained a day this cycle ☺️, small victories. I've got a new pack of OPKs and we're rearing to smash it again in a week or so.Hope you're all well!

@amyh2012, have you retested? 🤞🤞🤞

amyh2012 · 16/11/2021 15:04

@Sdoubleyou hey girl, I'm so sorry, it's awful. The absolute rollercoaster of emotions is so exhausting. Going from being optimistic at the start, to getting excited during fertile times, to being so full of hope and optimism and then for all of that to be taken from under earth you by a stupid £3 test that we LITERALLY pee on is absurd.
It's horrible and I totally understand. I was similar as I really thought that we'd conceive in the 3 months after as apparently were more fertile after a pregnancy, what a load of rubbish! It all adds to a rabbit hole of depression and exhaustion.

I can't take it away but I can let you know you're not suffering alone, I'm feeling it too and I bet the other lovely wonderful ladies in our little bubble are too. You've got us to rant too if you need us ❤️

Oh as for me, I've been testing since 4dpo and getting stark whites 😂 I'm 9dpo today and in all seriousness I'm feeling a little different this time, I've been getting twinges and also nauseous. I'm officially doing my test on Thursday (so my fella thinks) however I'm waiting on my Amazon order of 4 big guns (FRER, I mean business girls). I'll likely do 1 tomorrow morning and then keep quiet like I have been since 4dpo🤣

Sdoubleyou · 16/11/2021 16:22

@amyh2012, thank you! I know everyone is on a roller coaster too. If my sharing helps others, well that's just great. I really hope you get some good news this month, I'm channeling some good joo-joo for you across the Atlantic!

Shortmamashortcycles · 16/11/2021 20:52

@Sdoubleyou, oh love, I'm so so sorry you've been feeling crap. I am also in a progesterone-fuelled mood low and honestly it fecking sucks. A friend described grief as walking around without a layer of skin - everything is more sensitive and stings. Right now I cry at everything and feel myself hiding from work and life admin.

I can't do more than empathise and send you virtual hugs, and I'm so sorry I can't do more. I hope you're feeling all the feelings, and know that however shit things are, you won't always feel sad.

@amyh2012, everything crossed for you, hope the quiet testing goes ok and no rush to let us know. There's no shame in succumbing to testing madness!

amyh2012 · 17/11/2021 09:59

@Shortmamashortcycles @Sdoubleyou thanks for checking in ladies, doing to do my FRER tomorrow morning, I promise to keep you updated 😘

Sdoubleyou · 17/11/2021 12:56

@Shortmamashortcycles, I totally relate. I've been trying a few things to get my life to be more manageable if the TTCing takes long. It's trial and error, but it's been holding me together. Exercise is up there. I also decided to make my life as "small" as possible. As in minimize all the annoyances and admin crap that drains me. I've also recently started seeing one friend every week or so that I haven't seen in a long time and that doesn't know we're TTCing. That's been helpful too. And just giving in to the feelings, good or bad.

amyh2012 · 18/11/2021 17:23

Hello ladies, I just wanted to give you a little update, I got my bfp 🥺
I didn't know weather to post straight away as I know it's so tough to hear other peoples success when things are not quite as you'd like them to be however I told you all I'd let you know xx

Shortmamashortcycles · 18/11/2021 18:21

@amyh2012 that is AMAZING NEWS!!! ❤ 💙 💜

Honestly it's never painful to hear someone on this thread getting their BFP. It gives me hope that we'll all have our 🌈 soon.

How are you feeling?

amyh2012 · 18/11/2021 19:02

@Shortmamashortcycles thank you so much 🥺

I'm in shock and disbelief! I can't stop looking at the tests. I feel like I might've known deep down. I think it's taken a long gruelling time to get my body back to normal that when I got those blazing positive ovulation results I had a great feeling. I'd been feeling 'off' and nauseous, unable to sleep at night and had lots of twinges and pulls. I'm just praying to god that this is really it and it's smooth sailing 🤞🏼🥺🌈

Shortmamashortcycles · 18/11/2021 19:32

@amyh2012, all my fingers and toes are crossed for you, my love. The odds are in your favour, so trust the statistics.

Feel free to check in if you get anxious or want to share updates - I'd personally love to know you're getting on well. 🤞🤞🤞🤞❤❤❤
