New thread because the other one is bursting at the seams.

OP posts:

"I can "heat it up t0 250 degrees C and comfortably stick my head in it" - just how often did you try that!

Kewcumber · 27/06/2007 14:11

Foxie could you replace the doors - tis a lot cheaper.

ComeOVeneer · 27/06/2007 14:20

I'm always sticking my head in the oven, being a SAHM drives you to it didn't you know?

rosmerta · 27/06/2007 14:34

Cov, I guess living off your dh would drive you to it too

Also read the thread, couldn't resist!

Kewcumber · 27/06/2007 14:44

as I am P/T do I just stick my head in teh microwave or, given I have no DH, perhaps just the toaster?

xoxo · 27/06/2007 15:12

I liked teh thread's humour. i.e. someone suggested having to give a bj for a particular car.
Thought I should have cross referenced to the 'bottom love' sex thread, if she really wanted a gpood car.

xoxo · 27/06/2007 15:12

oh bugger

xoxo · 27/06/2007 15:12

am off to be forcefully educated

foxcub · 27/06/2007 15:25

Oxo!!

CoV R U getting a new floor then as well? We were going for ceramic floor tiles but have changed to porcelain now as they're supposed to be much stronger

Kew - do you reckon it really is much cheaper to just buy new doors? I'm always suspicious that when you actually sit down and cost getting new doors, they would work out almost as much as a new kitchen!!

I'm very tempted to get a new kitchen actually. I think a new cheap one would be nice

ComeOVeneer · 27/06/2007 15:36

Yes we are getting a new floo. The problem is because of the layout of our house, the kitchen is on the first floor (not the ground) so it isn't a solid concrete floor underneath. As such when the floor moves the tiles have all cracked, so we are going for a clip lock laminate that is a grey slate tile effect (looks pretty realistic).

foxcub · 27/06/2007 15:53

That's a good idea CoV. All the tilers who came tound to us recently said that laying tiles on floors is a nightmare if the floor isn't concrete!

I'm getting the new floor done next week and am so excited as a new floor will transform the space completely. DH has just sanded the rest of the ground floor so it'll look fabby

Am planning to paint the kitchen units french blue and add steel knobs to spruce it up a bit - unless Kew persuades me otherwise

Kewcumber · 27/06/2007 16:04

I have quickstep laminate in my hallway and its fab - so hard wearing and easy to clean (for the cleaner)

Foxie I think Ikea will let you just buy doors? If they fit they would be a cheap option I'm not sure if buying the doors is significantly cheaper than new kitchen but the fitting is

Paddlechick666 · 27/06/2007 16:08

don't they always say you can do a cheap kitchen makeover by just replacing the doors as long as you've got a good quality carcass to do so.

of course by "they" i mean all those property developer progs.

foxie, you could get moben or someone to come in and design/quote a new kitchen for you then just nick their ideas and suggestions and do it yourself.

sneaky eh!

eleusis · 27/06/2007 17:24

HAs anyone got a babysitter who might be free on Saturday to b-sit in Twickers. Just one child, age 4.

Oxo, I think you had someone who was looking for babysitting?

rosmerta · 27/06/2007 18:31

Sfx, am impressed your dh wants to read it, mine couldn't be the least bit interested! Btw, are you going to see the film when its released? Am desperately trying to find someone to go with

sfxmum · 27/06/2007 18:36

Ros - i missed the last one but plan on catching up soon and would gladly go and watch it, my guess is dh would too.
we were planning theater for our next 'sans enfant' outing but who knows

we usually like similar books and music although he has some extra poncy music tastes.

ComeOVeneer · 27/06/2007 18:42

The price of the kitchen units (even including all the appliances is just over half the cost, the rest is the cost of fitting, especially as we are moving it all around, so new sockets neede and the plumbing has to be redone for the sink and we are having an american fridge like KC's so need plumbing for ice/water. Also need them to resite the radiator.

Kewcumber · 27/06/2007 20:03

I'd be up for an outing to HP when its out (how ) but would need my mum to babysit or it would get prohibitively expensive for me.

rosmerta · 27/06/2007 21:59

KC, would it be possible to book your mum in advance? We know when the film's released & that it's likely to be on at the cinema for at least a month so we could easily set a date for it.

sfxmum · 28/06/2007 08:20

morning all

it seems this is forecast to be the only rain free day
we are off to kew dd needs loads of exercise

kew - maybe we can get some baby sitting arrangement

sfxmum · 28/06/2007 08:21

certainly not ore more!

rosmerta · 28/06/2007 08:39

Morning all, don't know what we're going to be up to today yet, might go swimming

mellow2 · 28/06/2007 09:12

Foxcub,

We have quickstep laminate floors throughout the flat and I can highly recommend it.

Ours is an oak laminate and lots of people have mistaken it for real oak floors. The best thing about it is no matter how much you drag stuff across the floor the scratches are not really noticeable. We've had removal men drag furniture across it and it still looks fine.

Morning all

DH left this morning for his lads wknd away, DS is at nursery and on my way to clean the bathrooms I took a slight wrong turn and ended up on here! Quite strange really.

It's forecasted to rain on Saturday so the garden party will have to be a dining room party instead. As long as you don't mind it being a bit cosy. Can I have a re-cap of who's still coming:

QC
Rosmerta
Mellow
Foxi
Sfx

Timing wise, is 10:30 ok? That way DC can play and have lunch together before going off for naps.
