I can't believe you did that ShockGrin

It's like having a supply teacher!

BrassicaBabe · 23/01/2021 17:06

@StuntNun the google search is "buy chicken skin". Haven't decided which one to click (I can't do links)

nowlook · 23/01/2021 17:07

Does anyone have a suggested sauce for tuna steaks? My soy sauce is tres carby.

Try marinating in sesame oil with salt, pepper, and a touch of Worcestershire sauce.

Also thinking Nam Pla (fish sauce) or maybe miso paste or even throw a few anchovies on top to seep in? Soy sauce is basically a salt-delivery system, isn’t it?

Would recommend sesame seeds but seeds aren’t allowed yet.

Or, use less soy sauce?

S'nice in here

BIWI · 23/01/2021 17:33

Well seeing as you've done all the hard work, @ShagMeRiggins, let's just stay here!

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/01/2021 17:37

Shit, the real teacher has turned up.

I haven't been posting on the other threads but I'm still with you in spirit. Low carbing since New Years.

This is only the second time we've needed two threads for a single Bootcamp week. You must be an extra chatty bunch.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 23/01/2021 17:43

I'm utterly out of inspiration today.

In the fridge, I have: pickled herring, lettuce, courgettes, sprouts, garlic, chicken stock, cheddar, brie.

In the freezer, I have: various lumps of frozen meat that won't defrost in time for dinner.

Any bright ideas? Recipes that aren't soup?

BIWI · 23/01/2021 17:46

Could you make a sort-of ploughmans?

Baked brie
Cheddar, grated into lettuce cups (some kind of sauce made from your store cupboard - e.g mayo & mustard)?
Pickled herring
Fritters, made with grated courgettes and sprouts, fried in garlic butter

Chicken stock into the freezer!

BIWI · 23/01/2021 17:48

Actually, do you have anything in your cupboard like a tin of tuna? You could add that too, as a tuna mayo (if you've got mayo!). Also lovely mixed with a little bit of chopped onion/shallot and some chilli powder.

cheeseisthebest · 23/01/2021 17:50

I'm very excited. Having chilli in a minute and just realised I can guilt free have cheese and sour cream!
It's a meat chilli with lots of veg in it.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 23/01/2021 17:52

Oooh, fritters sounds nice. Will go and google how to do those. Presumably I could then bake brie on top of them?

And I do have half an onion in the fridge (forgot that), so could top with brie and onion. Hmmm, that appeals actually, thank you!!!

anewdispensation · 23/01/2021 17:53

Enjoying BC so far. was on a zoom call last night and my friends all commented on how lovely my skin was- must be the daily 4 litres of water... I felt sleepy and tired this afternoon though so had some chicken broth to perk me up..

Someone on the other thread mentioned low carb bread- is this allowed? I am avoiding anything processed. Thoughts anyone?

MarmaladeTeepee · 23/01/2021 17:55

Tonight's tea is steak with spicy roasted cauliflower, grilled asparagus and a cream based sauce - love this WOE!

BurningGubbins · 23/01/2021 17:56

My husband is making chilli for dinner (hiving my portion off before the kidney beans are added), so I have thoroughly enjoyed a good thread catch up.

I’ve also started resetting my children’s diets a bit. My youngest in particular is a carb-fiend and being stuck at home has started to put on a bit too much weight. We’re making more of an effort to get out and about and switch out some foods. Annoyingly he will not go near eggs!

nowlook · 23/01/2021 17:57

@anewdispensation Lots of people are trying the bread. I'm not, because I love bread too much and want to break the habit of eating it. See also red wine ( which some will have after the first two weeks). I'm just not seasoned enough at BC yet! But that's just me Smile

anewdispensation · 23/01/2021 17:58

Thanks @nowlook is there a recommended brand or where can I get it?

ZiggZagg · 23/01/2021 18:05

Hi shag 🙋‍♀️

So weird seeing biwi in blue Grin

ZiggZagg · 23/01/2021 18:05

Or purple GrinGrin

Dailyhandtowelwash · 23/01/2021 18:05

Hello, new thread.

Today’s food:

Lunch: burger, melted cheese and chorizo slices, in a lettuce leaf ‘bun’
Dinner: steak, cheesy shallots and mushrooms, creamed spinach, celeriac chips
Also 2.5 coffees with cream

A bit too beefy I think but we’ve meal planned for the week and no more cow planned!
