Morning all.

Sorry if you're chomping at the bit to announce your loss this morning!

Here's the spreadsheet

Some great losses already posted, so well done.

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway.

Flowers @Lyrata

Keep the faith! Or KOKO, as we always say - this is a marathon not a sprint. As long as you follow the rules it will work for you. But remember it's different for different people - we won't all lose the same amount or at the same rate.

BIWitched yeah! I think this was in part driven by my sense that Christmas is just around the corner, but I looked today and it’s actually not. I was feeling as if it were a month away.

I do now feel quite ashamed of mincing around my kitchen anxious about eating a red pepper.

Takingontheworld · 25/10/2020 09:09

@BIWI

It's done *@Takingontheworld* (without the .6!)
Ta!

What to do with these radishes then? Xx

Notwatchingtvtoday · 25/10/2020 09:12

BIWI thanks for the advise for Bills restaurant, we had a lovely meal out. I had a steak with garlic butter as the sauce 😀broccoli instead of chips and extra green veg with bacon and butter, it was lovely and I definitely did not feel at all deprived.

I would really recommend trying to look at the menu before you eat out and making your choices as it really helped me keep on track. I think once you are further along in boot camp and you have more weight loss logged, it is a bit easier to not be as derailed as I know I would feel with a gain at the moment. But as others have said not much opportunity for eating out at the moment is helpful (as well as sad).

Today’s plan is
B Greek yogurt
L soup
D roast leg of lamb Rubbed with butter, garlic and rosemary served with FLGV
Loads of water and a dog walk in the park later

StuntNun · 25/10/2020 09:24

I usually eat my first meal of the day at 11 a.m. because I intermittent fast but this extra hour is killing me and I don't think I'm going to make it lol!

SuperbGorgonzola · 25/10/2020 09:51

Starting today following our anniversary weekend. It's a good day to start as we've had a busy week so the cupboards are bare and I'm going shopping this morning.

Made myself have scrambled eggs with butter for breakfast. My urge was to skip it as I'm feeling so fat, but I'm trying to overcome a binge/restrict pattern that I've recognised in myself.

Being totally honest, I'm too scared to weigh myself today. I know that's very irrational but I know it's going to be bad. Does anyone else get that feeling?

Today will be
B- scrambled eggs and coffee
L- leek and cauliflower soup
D- roast chicken with FLGV

BurningGubbins · 25/10/2020 09:53

Takingontheworld congrats on the 12! It looks like we are using the same scales. I was not convinced when my husband bought them as I didn’t want to be confronted by all those terrible indicators, but it has been great seeing them gradually turn green (not all of them yet!).

I am pleased to report that I have lost that rogue 1.5lb that appeared this week and another one on top. 0.2lbs away from my interim target which is the weight I was when I got married, although post-children I am carrying much more belly fat than I was when I was last this weight.

I am experimenting with celeriac dauphinois with our roast chicken tonight, alongside lots of green veg.

Takingontheworld · 25/10/2020 09:55

Had no idea it turns green, makes sense now. I never stopped to question why it was all in different colours 🤣🤣🤣

BurningGubbins · 25/10/2020 09:59

SuperbGorgonzola I get where you’re coming from, hence my reluctance to get the smart scales. I didn’t want to know what body fat percentage etc I was. I also never take “before” photos and measurements. I just don’t find it motivating to feel shit about myself on day 1.

Maybe weigh in after a couple of weeks?

BIWI · 25/10/2020 10:03

But why is it going to be bad?! Have you been following the rules?

TBH, if the scales have so much control over you and are making you feel so bad, why not ditch them and go for some other way of recording your progress?

Sorry @SuperbGorgonzola - just spotted that you only started today! Blush

However. You need to be brave and do it. It's important to know where you're starting from, to acknowledge that this is the start, and that it's only going downwards.

Your menu for today sounds great - just remember to keep the fat high and the water levels up too!

VeryLittleOwl · 25/10/2020 10:09

Takingontheworld and BurningGubbis - I didn't see the post, what are the scales please? I think it may be time for a new set, as mine are ancient and just do weight. I'd actually really like to see what else is going on.

SuperbGorgonzola · 25/10/2020 10:10

Hi @BIWI no, I'm just starting bootcamp today. I've followed it before and like it but last time was around May. The last few weeks particularly I've been quite disorganised and haven't been meal planning and I can feel the weight.

Last time I weighed about a fortnight ago I'd put on around 7lb since last bootcamp which is bad enough, and I will have put more on since. The number will motivate me but it also makes me feel a bit out of control iyswim.

prettybird · 25/10/2020 10:22

Think of it this way SuperbGorgonzola - if you weigh now, you should get a nice big "whoosh" in Week 1 to motivate you Grin

So in one respect, just ignore the big initial figure and concentrate on the losses you will see if you stick to The Rules Smile

I really binged in the few weeks before this Boot Camp Blush and was ShockShock at the figure I had to weigh in at Blush But it meant that I was able to record a 8lb loss in Week 1 Smile

That's helped keep me focussed in Week 2, as I knew it wouldn't be repeated but I wanted to keep the downward trajectory - and I'm hoping to be able to report another 2lb loss tomorrow Halo although that depends in part on whether my dad inadvertently sabotages me tonight, in which case I'll record my 1.75lb loss from the morning Wink

Takingontheworld · 25/10/2020 10:28

MNHQ kindly removed mine cos i didn't realise the app says my name and I just uploaded a screen shot in a happy panic.

Reattaching without outing myself again...

I finally saw a 12!!! First time in SEVEN years.

I am so over the moon. I've bought myself flowers to celebrate and I'm cooking a bit roast as my sister and her bf are visiting so I'm fasting in prep for loads of creamy cauli cheese 🤣

Week 2 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - the first weigh-in!
BurningGubbins · 25/10/2020 10:29

VeryLittleOwl I have Renpho scales. They link to an app on my phone and track weight, BMI, body fat, muscle, BMR, metabolic age and lots of other things.

If you’re a daily weigher like me it can be handy to see what is behind the fluctuations just to see how you react to certain meals I.e. water has gone up, rather than fat, but I don’t look at the details as closely now as I did at the start.

I have lost 4 metabolic years since May!

Takingontheworld · 25/10/2020 10:31

Also just to confirm, that 2st 13.6 lb loss (can i just say 3 stone yet!? Christ on a bike it's killing me 🤣)

Is all down to last boot camp and this so far.

And to reiterate to any of the others who may have missed it, i lost NOTHING in week 3and 4 which os notoriously bad for stagnating. I've had several weeks dotted about these months where I've also lost nothing for 7-10 days at a time. KOKO. It does come off and it alll adds up.

SuperbGorgonzola · 25/10/2020 10:41

You are right prettybird! I've done some photos as I've just had a shower and I've weighed! Deep breath- we've got this!

takingontheworld well done!!!! What a great feeling! I'm aiming for a 12 as well. I was 13 on the nose at the end of the last bootcamp but I've backtracked now. KOKO - it's still early days and you've done so well already!

Totalshambles · 25/10/2020 10:48

Stepped on the scales and only dropped 1.4lb despite following rules to the letter. Maybe by tomorrow there will be a little more. I know week 2 doesn’t always bring much weight loss and something is better than nothing!! Is week 3 usually better?

VeryLittleOwl · 25/10/2020 10:49

Thanks, BurningGubbins, just bought some and Amazon reckons they'll arrive tomorrow (unlikely, given where I live, but I admire their optimism!) I had a surprise £7 discount voucher on my account as well, so it brought them down to £22.99.

Bugger, wrote a long reply and MN lost it into the ether Angry

In short: 1.75lb is a good loss and don't expect much more (1-2lb is a healthy average).

Weeks 4-5 notorious for stalls and even increases.

Take photos for NSVs which might be visible even if the scales aren't moving.

prettybird · 25/10/2020 11:01

Sorry - should have said 1.4lb is a good weekly loss after Week 1. (The App didn't let me see the quote again to check your loss)

Totalshambles · 25/10/2020 11:11

prettybird thanks so much. Will hope for something similar next week and will be prepared for not much for a little while after that. Good point that clothes etc should be the motivator, will get out those black skinny jeans that haven’t done up (even close) for about 3 years!

But you lost almost 5lbs last week, so that's pretty much half a stone in a fortnight!

What's the problem with that?!

Sadly, I have to warn you that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for little or no weight loss, so you need to prepare yourself mentally for that to happen.

Also - you are pretty light anyway, at 8st 12lbs, so you're really not going to lose huge amounts each week.

Just be pleased with what you've achieved Flowers
