Morning all.

Sorry if you're chomping at the bit to announce your loss this morning!

Here's the spreadsheet

Some great losses already posted, so well done.

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway.

Morning all. I’m up stupidly early as the clocks went back.

Sunday is my weigh day and I weighed in today at 10 stone 8 1/2 which is a 4 pound loss. I’m SO happy to see some good movement after my disappointing 1/2 pound loss last week.

Other than my normal breakfast coffee, I plan to have a mid-morning snack today of homemade mushroom pate with peppers. Then I’ll be having Sunday Lunch at 3-4pm.

I have a rib of beef, crispy kale, radishes to roast as per everyone’s fervent recommendations, leeks and also parsnips although now not sure parsnips are allowed?

Does anyone have any additional tips for the radishes?

Takingontheworld · 25/10/2020 06:49

Awake early too. Too scared to check the scales so just lying in bed praying to the lchf gods for a good loss ha.

I have radishes. What should i do with them?

Ah bugger. Didn't realise it says my name. Reported myself 🤦‍♀️

Rayna37 · 25/10/2020 07:20

Ran 3.6 miles yesterday and it was SO hard; nothing to do with this WoE, more that I hadn't run since August and haven't run regularly since I did a lot in April. I miss parkrun! Must aim to always do a run at the weekend. Swimming and yoga is great but it's not the same kind of fitness.

16hr fast and a very low carb omelette lunch in advance of eating out. No wine and lots of water and I didn't mind at all, actually think I missed the wine more the night before! Starter was a pigs head croquette which was amazing (coating not LC) and came with celeriac remoulade which I love. Beef feather blade, beetroot ketchup, broccoli and yes, the truffle and Parmesan chips. I'm ok with these choices but disappointed I also had few bites of DS's ice cream/chocolate sauce/honeycomb thing. Oh and the perfect square of dark chocolate sea salt fudge that came with the enormous bill. Ironically we bought the "invisible chips"- a charity donation for the hospitality industry; should have stuck with those Confused

Back to where I started the week on the scales so aiming for a very good day!

Takingontheworld · 25/10/2020 07:30

Truffle and parmesan chips are my fave!

20bloodypounds · 25/10/2020 07:32

I promise I didn't see it covers phone and instantly forgets

But hey a MASSIVE well done on getting into the 12s. And what perseverance. Be proud of yourself and keep on going.

I've mostly been missing breakfast and having a late morning creamy coffee. And the pounds are trickling off. Today will be proper breakfast before dh goes to visit v. elderly parents.

I can't wait for tomorrow to be over (nothing to do with bootcamp). I'm chair of a local charity and it's the AGM tomorrow. All fine except one of the groups is squaring up for a fight, and I hate confrontation. It's been making me really anxious all week and every email they send makes it worse. In the face of that I've done well to keep away from the wine and the crisps. And I will continue to do so, even after the relief of tomorrow evening being over.

B - creamy scrambled egg, crispy pancetta, fried mushrooms
L - Sardines on low carb toast
D - pork belly, cabbage, celery, leeks

The pork belly is slow cooked from Tesco. It's a bit high on carbs at 5.8 per 100g, but I'm assuming that a fair whack of that comes from the accompanying apple sauce, which I won't have. But it is high on fat Smile

BIWI · 25/10/2020 07:49

@Lyrata

Today has been a weird day for food!

Breakfast was a coffee with double cream, and I then instead of actually eating lunch I went and bought some beef for tomorrow’s lunch.

Dinner was a weird mix of chicken and mushrooms. I am frightened of consuming a carb in case my scales aren’t friendly tomorrow (I am a Sunday weigher).

Sorry but that's really not a good day's food. You need carbs - because they will be coming from vegetables and salad - to ensure that you're getting all the right nutrients.

If you're getting so obsessed, I think it's time to step away from the scales.

This is about a good, wholesome way of eating - one benefit of which will be weight loss. It's not about disordered eating or poor nutrition.

Well done @Takingontheworld

My period started yesterday does that mean for my weigh in tomorrow, should I expect a boost or a slow down?

BIWI · 25/10/2020 07:53

Flowers @Takingontheworld - great news!

Just got weighed and period doesn’t seem to have changed anything.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 25/10/2020 08:09

Am up half a pound on yesterday ☹️. Yesterday's food was B - salami sandwich on low carb bread. No lunch. D - one and a half burgers (from the butcher, so good ones) no bun, salad with mustard and olive oil dressing. One coffee with squirty cream. Plus obviously water, tea and coffee (no sweeteners or milk). 5 pork scratchings.

I'm not certain but I do think I've lost an inch off my waist. It eat the scales have hardly moved. Am constantly drinking, so is it possible to still hold onto water?

BIWI · 25/10/2020 08:10

@Anotherducker when you weigh is entirely up to you! But it's a good idea to keep your own record of your weight, and mark on it when you were having a period - that way, over time, you'll learn what impact it has (if any) on your weight.

I am really enjoying this WOE. I think my appetite has adjusted as I don’t feel hungry between meals usually, except yesterday but I just had some Greek yoghurt (and a very small portion of pecans!) I know nuts aren’t officially allowed until tomorrow but otherwise everything has been on track. Yesterday’s meals were
B creamy coffee
L lemon and rosemary chicken thigh leftovers with celeriac mash
D Greek tray bake: lamb meatballs, roast celeriac, peppers, cherry tomatoes and courgette with olives, feta, chilli sauce & a dollop of Greek yoghurt.
I normally eat a proper breakfast but actually ended up in hospital because of chest pains, so was a bit disorganised. Health is fine, mild pericarditis, so I can’t do strenuous exercise.
My son is due to celebrate a big birthday next weekend and he would like sushi for his birthday dinner! I think I will need to join him and also have some of his birthday cake, presumably if I get straight back in to things the day after it won’t be too bad????

I'll say the same to you as I did to @Lyrata. This was not a good day's food!

Where are your vegetables? One salad in the whole day isn't enough to provide you with proper nutrition. And the salami and pork scratchings are processed too.

So most of your carbs have been coming from other sources - the bread (even though it's low carb) and probably the burger - do you really know what was in it as a filler/binder? Plus the amount of processed food. Even though the bread is low carb, it's also more processed than 'normal' bread - look at the ingredients!

Ingredients of Sainsbury's organic seeded wholemeal as a comparison:

I've already decided not to reorder the bread for a while because it's easy to use it every day and not make proper food.
Today, breakfast will be egg and avocado. Dinner will be belly of pork slices and green veg fried in butter.

Why will you need to join him? Don't use this as an excuse! You'll be only 3 weeks into Bootcamp by then, it would be a shame to sabotage things,

However - it's entirely your choice. Could be an interesting experiment for you to see what impact it has on your weight. I see from the spreadsheet that you probably have very little to lose anyway, so why not treat this as a first move to maintenance?

Choux · 25/10/2020 08:27

Please can I be added to the spreadsheet with a starting weight of 180lb in June 2020.

I joined the last boot camp on week 5 (am always late to these boot camp parties!!!) but continued after the end and lost a stone. I then was finally allowed to visit my parents and worked remotely from there for several weeks. They eat a lot of carbs / sugar and my intake also crept up. I put 5lbs back on. Now home again and getting back into it.

Will go hardcore today and fill in my current weight tomorrow. I was just reading a few threads with the hour I've gained overnight and have a keto cookbook a friend gave me for my birthday so am ready for a new push towards my goal of being in the normal weight for my height. Think that's 147lb so I have about 23lb to go.

KOKO everyone!

Takingontheworld · 25/10/2020 08:29

@StuntNun would you mind updating my spreadsheet no?

181 lbs pls. (I'm ignoring the .6 🤣)

BIWI · 25/10/2020 08:32

It's done @Takingontheworld (without the .6!)

@SomethingInTheWaySheCooks am presuming the sushi will be eaten in a restaurant or you'll get takeaway? Can you not eat sashimi with miso soup, chicken skewers etc?

BIWI · 25/10/2020 08:34

Oh, and welcome @Choux! I can't add you to the spreadsheet, but @AthelstaneTheUndeady will do that when she next drops by

OP posts:
SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 25/10/2020 08:43

@Choux It will be takeout but it’s from a very specialist sushi maker who doesn’t do soup or anything else but lovely platters of sushi! I will forego the wine! Part of the pleasure will be sharing, I feel, so I’m resigned to it. However it does make me wonder how eventually I will reintroduce more carbs and what will happen then!

Lyrata · 25/10/2020 08:44

@BIWitched ah thanks for the feedback. It was a low-vegetable day, although when I said ‘frightened’ it was probably too strong a word. It was 50% poor planning and 50% that I didn’t want to risk another bad weigh-in. The only vegetables I had that weren’t ear-marked for today were red peppers which I know are borderline.

I don’t think it was quite disordered eating - but in future I will plan better and make sure I have enough to eat in the house. It was a generous pile of mushrooms (with garlic and rosemary etc) topped with a chicken thigh so it felt like a hearty autumnal meal but I should have had something for lunch.

Either way I think this proves that last week was probably my period playing havoc or water retention and I actually have been losing weight. I’m not normally particularly scale obsessed but I was a bit spooked not to see any initial loss and I think I would have struggled if it had been two weeks. Now I should have the confidence not to be upset if I don’t see a loss in a future week as I know it’s working ‘behind the scenes’.
