Week 2 - May Low Carb Bootcamp - our first official weigh-in!

Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the the Weight Tracker (I hope that link works but apologies if it doesn't!)

So we come to our first weigh-in. I know from last week's thread that results are going to be a bit mixed - but I hope that most of you will see a good loss.

If you haven't, don't panic! Sometimes it can take a bit of time for your body to trust you, especially if you're a bit of a serial dieter.

If you think you've been doing everything according to the rules, but still haven't seen a loss, then list out for me your meals over the last 3 or 4 days and let me see if I can spot anything obvious.

But whatever the results are today, please remember it's not a competition!

We all lose weight at different rates. And someone who sees a big loss in one week isn't going to see that every week.

And remember - it's not all about what the scales tell you. You'll find that your body shape can change even if the scales remain unchanged!

Good luck to you all.

Suzy I'm so sorry about DH's dad. Don't forget to take care of yourself while you take care of everyone else x

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 18/05/2015 09:24

I've stayed the same again, which i'm happy with as i've had three less than good days in a row. So long as my weight doesnt go back up, i dont care if it takes 5 years to go down to healthy :)

Breakfast is an interesting bpc/green smoothie hybrid. Coffee granules, coconut oil, butter, an avocado and ff greek yoghurt, with enough water to squoosh it up a bit. Its not as nice as i'd hoped, but is drinkable.

HemanOrSheRa · 18/05/2015 09:46

Sorry to hear about your FIL Suzy Flowers.

I'm down 5lbs this morning. However I'm not getting too excited as this just puts me back to just about where I was before my low carb disaster of last weekend. Which shows this WOE works and high carb does not!

Still feeling rough so not chancing any food yet. Just sips of water. DP and DS have the bug too now. Great Sad. Still, best get it over with now before hols on Friday. Eek! I must try my wetsuit on Confused.

Gcalgske · 18/05/2015 09:53

Hi all, I'm back to there or there about where I was at the end of the 'between BC BC' so have recovered from my birthday alcohol induced idiocy.
I'm def back in ketosis because I have llama breath and I was at a NTS cafe at lunch time with DH and DD with nothing suitable (except black coffee with cream) and I wasn't hungry.
Yesterday's food:
B. BPC, 2 eggs fried in olive oil
L. Americano with cream
D. Portobello mushroom stuffed with wilted spinach and topped with Gorgonzola, hm burger, swede chips.
2 small squares green and blacks 85%

ewanhoozami · 18/05/2015 10:02

maggie you can make marinades out of a mayo base which are great for chicken thighs and pork chops.

My absolute favourite is mayo, splash of lemon, smoked paprika and mustard. Marinade in the fridge for an hour or so then fry.

Pork marinaded in mayo, chilli, lime and wasabi (or regular horseradish) is amazing too.

EvaTheOptimist · 18/05/2015 10:09

Yesterday I launched into bootcamp with
B scrambled egg and spinach leaves
L Salad, cheese, coleslaw
D Salmon, with courgettes, mushrooms, pesto
S Total yogurt

DramaAlpaca · 18/05/2015 10:12

Sorry to hear about your FIL Suzy Flowers

Down 1lb on last week. Happy enough that the trend is downwards.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 18/05/2015 10:15

Could someone put mine on the spreadsheet please? I'm now 122 Smile. Thanks, have a great day all x

Fishlegs · 18/05/2015 10:24

I have lost 5lb.

Am surprised, as I have been attempting to low carb for a couple of months, but I was drinking 10 cups of tea with milk a day and snacking big time on nuts. I can't believe making those 2 simple changes have made such a difference.

Only trouble is, I'm supposed to be doing bc light due to bf. On kellymom they recommend only losing 1lb a week as apparently toxins which are stored in fat 'may' be released into breastmilk. Does anyone know anything about this? I might ask in infant feeding if not.

Well done everyone, and thanks for being such a support. I don't post that often as it's a pain on my phone and I don't often get to a computer but knowing that you're all going through this with me is a massive motivation. Thanks

sassandfaff · 18/05/2015 10:27

Morning.

Can someone add 189 for me? I'm 1lb up but it's my totm, so I'm good. Grin
Thanking you.

Fishlegs · 18/05/2015 10:29

Oh I'm wrong, I lost 1lb, which is perfect!
Scrub that last question.

Username12345 · 18/05/2015 10:29

Lost 6lbs! I couldn't believe it. I thought my scales were broken Grin

justonemorethread · 18/05/2015 10:30

Thank you will check spread sheet when back on laptop.
Keep posting your meals everyone, I need lots of ideas! Especially if you have some good ideas for cabbage, the only veg I can reliably get here.

Suzy very sorry about your fil, condolences to you all. I had a rough week last week and as biwi said you can't always control what goes on around you, these situations are always all consuming.

RabbitsarenotHares · 18/05/2015 10:30

4.75lb loss this week. Am well chuffed!

Have to admit, though, that I started three weeks ago, but have been doing a modified version - not worrying about low-carbing at the weekends, and once or twice during the week as well. I know I shouldn't, but I do have my reasons, not least it means I don't get fed up of what I'm eating.

Saying that, I've lost 7.25 lbs in total over the three weeks, so I'm certainly not complaining!!!

nobodyknowswheremyjonnyhasgone · 18/05/2015 11:02

Sorry to hear about your fil Suzy.So hard to stay focused on anything else during times like that.

I'm not a prolific poster but determined to post every day during the week and record my weigh ins. 4.4 off! Well done to everyone else. Did anyone else find the weekend really hard? I had onions, red pepper, cashews, carby sausages but these were the worst of my sins so much better than diving into the bread and biscuits as normal. Oh dear actually I did eat half a piece of breaded chicken before I realised what I was doing.

So, weekdays again and I am in control!

Today

B: FF Total
L: Pork kebabs and big spinach based salad.
D: Salmon cooked in butter with creamy leeks and some other veg tba.

Need to do better with water.

Good luck for week 2.....onwards and downwards.

Romeyroo · 18/05/2015 11:04

Just place marking just now - thank you biwi for the new thread

Heffalumps · 18/05/2015 11:17

I managed to add my self - I hope it has worked
7lbs off Grin
looking at the guide, I have not been drinking enough water, I didn't appreciate it can affect losses too - so that's my goal for this week.
I have LC'd before and it really worked for me - fingers crossed.
I would like to lose another 7-10 lbs

I am drinking tea with milk - I don't drink coffee and am not having any other dairy regularly - had a small bowl of FF greek yoghurt a couple of times last week.

Hissy · 18/05/2015 11:59

5lb off ! Hurrah!

B: egg and cream omelette with left over sausages
Snacks;: mini cheese portions x 3
L: TBC - prawn salad with mayo and avocado - and anything else I can load in for fat
D: probably similar - TBC

BIWI · 18/05/2015 12:05

Sorry to hear about your FIL, suzy. As others have said, make sure you look after yourself as well.

Just 'testing' the long life soya milk (okay, yes?) ready for my festival. It seems to be umm, an acquired taste?

millionsmom · 18/05/2015 12:13

BIWI I get the science behind it I do! When you've been told the only way to lose weight is low fat etc, it takes a while for it to sink in. But the FLAVOUR of everything is amazing.

BF : full fat plain yoghurt with 2 spoons of fresh cream
L: 3 whole eggs scrambled eggs made with cream, chicken breast/smoked salmon (no sugar pack). Salad - lettuce, cucumber and Mayo.
D: chicken fajitas minus the wrap, salad as above plus 5 cherry toms.
Drink 3 litres very easily, no snacks as I feel full all the time.

Fatstacks · 18/05/2015 12:34

Sorry for your loss Suzy Flowers

Just been to nurse (or some health care lady who is ok to brutally stab me with a blunt needle but fortunately not suitably qualified to do my smear) and have been told in no uncertain terms that she can accurately predict my cholesterol will be up if I have been following LCHF Hmm

She also forecast that if I didn't hurry up and lose the weight then I was a bang cert to need knee replacements in my 50's.

Oh and she decided that I'm at least an inch shorter than my medical notes say, making my BMI so much worse.

AND i still have to go back and get a smear, after she has done the course......

God knows where they dug this crusty old cow up. Angry

I'm not going to wash my fanny for a week before my smear appointment, that'll teach her

Fatstacks · 18/05/2015 12:35

Sorry if you're eating Blush

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 18/05/2015 12:42

Fat, that made me lol Grin

Yes, it is entirely possible your cholesterol will go up, but it may even go down. Cholesterol has recently been found to tie more to genetics though than anything else, so you are buggered whatever you do (mine by the way has stayed pretty much the same before and after changing to lchf).

And on top of that, high cholesterol is only proven to correlate with heart disease etc. Very much not the same as being proven to cause it.

cathyandclaire · 18/05/2015 12:46

Adding menu, to keep me on the straight and narrow (hopefully getting narrower Grin)
B:bacon, eggs, mushrooms
L: late brekkie so planning FF greek yoghurt and a splash of cream.
S: Low carb cheese souffle with big salad.

Snack: Kale crisps if needed to up veggie count.
