Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the the Weight Tracker (I hope that link works but apologies if it doesn't!)

So we come to our first weigh-in. I know from last week's thread that results are going to be a bit mixed - but I hope that most of you will see a good loss.

If you haven't, don't panic! Sometimes it can take a bit of time for your body to trust you, especially if you're a bit of a serial dieter.

If you think you've been doing everything according to the rules, but still haven't seen a loss, then list out for me your meals over the last 3 or 4 days and let me see if I can spot anything obvious.

But whatever the results are today, please remember it's not a competition!

We all lose weight at different rates. And someone who sees a big loss in one week isn't going to see that every week.

And remember - it's not all about what the scales tell you. You'll find that your body shape can change even if the scales remain unchanged!

Good luck to you all.

Ive been receiveing a lot of compliments about my skin people say its glowing, I cannot get my head round this surly 0% fat, fruit veg and water diets are the only ones that work!!! This WOE is so easy and I'm loosing weight!!!

Patapouf · 18/05/2015 12:52

fatstacks I had a mouthful of tuna when I read that Envy Grin
I'm just shy of 5' 10" and I've had a bitch features doctor in the past who insisted on entering 5'9" and then my normal nice doctor told her to input it metrically Grin, it's crazy what difference a few cms can make to your bmi.
not that my category shifted at all

B: total yog. I actually can't stomach any more of this, it's making me gag. I'm going to try and dilute it with some double cream because the consistency is gross and I've been persevering because Im jot a breakfast person and I don't want bacon and eggs first thing.
L: tuna mayo lettuce wraps
D: undecided! I'm thinkng steak and buttered creamy leeks.

Sorry to hear about your FIL Suzy

Fatstacks I had a right barney with our surgery after I was told to have a revue with the Health Care Assistant. I ended up telling them that I would go in for my annual medication revue and bloods (with doc) but I was not trailing up there to be slagged off by someone only qualified to fill in a computer tick sheet! She had a right go about my diet. Now, at that point, I had already lost nearly 3 stones, come of statins and brought my BP down! She on the other hand looked like an advert for Greggs! Boy was I steaming!

patapouf I can't see the point in eating what you hate! What about some roll ups with combinations of sliced cheese and cold meat? You can bung them in a box the night before if time is an issue. Its actually lower in carb than the yoghurt.

Thankyou for your wishes kind ladies. It is a sad time for us but I will do my best keeping on.

Cholesterol is something i have had to look into previously fatstacks as mine is very high due to genetic factors. I have forgotton most of the science now but it was astounding how many assumptions have been made correlating high cholesterol with heart disease which are based on poor research. In fact low-carbing has an impact on changing the particle size in cholesterol which is good Stuntnun - was very helpful to me on a previous bootcamp when I was slightly freaking out about this, she seems to know all the science. Definitely worth looking into - I will try to find some links.

Suzymoo9 · 18/05/2015 13:22

fatstacks The Great Cholesterol Con Paperback – by Dr Malcolm Kendrick may be worth a read, having looked into it I still decided to take a statin and it has brought my cholesterol right down (as I had no side effects I thought I would take one just to be on the safe side).

Fatstacks · 18/05/2015 13:31

Sorry for being super uncouth I blame having an old soldier in the house Smile

I went feeling positive for a change, no complaints just positive.
She knocked my duck right off.

I suppose she hasn't read the tact and encouragement chapter yet.

Thanks Suzy I'll check that out, I need to be better informed just in case she talks bollocks again.

HarlotOTara · 18/05/2015 13:37

Hi,

I have been low carbing for five weeks and have lost 10lbs. I am delighted and am finding this way of eating incredibly easy. I do struggle to drink 2.5 litres of water tho'. I gave been ill with D&V this weekend and really can't face eating much at the moment esp. fatty things. Any tips on how to eat until my tum feels better? Normally it would be dry toast.

Following all the threads but sadly don't have time to post much.

Fatstacks · 18/05/2015 13:45

Harlot hiya Smile
What about some chicken and veg soup?
I stick some legs and thighs into a roasting bag (to catch all the fat and juice) then when they are cooked empty the liquid from the bag into a pan, chuck in whatever low carb veg you have handy (especially cauliflower leaves, natch Grin) and simmer.

Strip the meat from the bones and pop it into the pan.
The roasty bits add a nice savoury flavour so it isn't bland.
I put cream into my dish first when I serve it so it cools nd makes it cream of.

ditavonteesed · 18/05/2015 13:50

sorry about your FIL Suzy Sad

Fatstacks/miffy one of the reasons I am doing this is that I am currently doing my nurse training and I know health promotion is a big part of that. I know that people will not take lifestyle advice from an iverweight nurse seriously. The other reason is having recently been on a community placement and seeing the impact of diabetes I was scared into submission.

From all the research I have read LCHF is the best way to prevent or help control type 2 diabetes.

HarlotOTara · 18/05/2015 13:58

Fatstacks thanks that sounds like something I could manage and I gave thighs in the fridge. Will not eating much affect weight loss in a negative way?

Sorelip · 18/05/2015 14:09

2lb down, and TOTM started today so I'm happy.

Suzy Flowers

Preminstreltension · 18/05/2015 14:12

Just marking my place really. I am hungry, sort of, today. It's not the normal hunger is it? It's just a sort of "I haven't had enough to eat" thought. Might grab a snack later and I don't normally need snacks. I like that coyo but the 125ml pots don't really suffice for me!

AndTheBandPlayedOn · 18/05/2015 14:26

Down 3.5 lbs (and heavy totm too).
Thanks BIWI and everyone for all the support, menu ideas and encouragement.

I had one slip up during the week: cake batter Blush with my dd who is 7 and loves to cook goodies. But it wasn't quite enough to break the Fuck It Seal. Grin

I have been able to continue with just water. I gave up unsweet iced tea (McDonalds $1-large) April 21 and have been caffeine free since. Other liquids might (but not daily) be V8 juice or a Slim Fast (I know not the best thing as the wrong kind of carbs. I only had two during the week.)

Thanks for the book suggestion on Cholesterol, Suzy, and sorry about your fil. Flowers

StuntNun · 18/05/2015 14:27

Patapouf I prefer the Lidl Greek yoghurt to Total. In the end I got a yoghurt maker from Lakeland and now I make my own from longlife milk (I keep 150g from each batch to make the next batch).

Fatstacks my LDL cholesterol went up slightly when I started LCHF. However my triglycerides dropped to a quarter of their previous level and the ratio between triglycerides and HDL is more important than the overall level of cholesterol. Generally LCHF will always improve your lipid profile. The exception is in cases of familial hypercholesterolemia.

Patapouf · 18/05/2015 14:36

Thanks miffy and stunt I might see if I can get to a lidl, yoghurt seems the most breakfasty option to me, and I love normal watery yogs! I think it's the thickness of it that I'm not used to, and the fact it takes of nothing!

ApplySomePressure · 18/05/2015 15:51

Well done on your losses everyone! 8lbs down for me. Just the kick started I needed!

Stomach issues seem to have resolved!

B: M&S sliced turkey, 2 babybels
L: M&S two boiled egg and spinach. M&S sliced turkey
D: Pork chop (with fat) leeks and asparagus cooked in butter

miffy49 · 18/05/2015 16:00

I dislike Total too Stunt. It seems to lack that smooth creaminess. We have an Aldi locally but no Lidl and the Aldi Greek style is quite carby. I used to get the Asda Specially Selected one that had added cream but they haven't had any for several weeks now. When I make my own I use a couple of small, stainless flasks. When its 'cooked' I strain it through muslin but that's the bit that takes up too much fridge space! Its very nice though and much less tart than bought yoghurt.

diggerdigsdogs · 18/05/2015 16:08

Sorry about you FIL Suzy. Look after yourself. Thanks

Had my first day feeling really positive about what I'm eating and was mostly not hungry. I did have a sugar craving after dinner but I didn't feel full after eating. I'm not really sure what I should have done - more fat with dinner? Had more food? i wonder if it's also just habit of having something sweet after dinner.

B: cheese omelet cooked in butter.
S: chai tea with butter, coconut oil and coconut/almond milk
L: ceaser salad with bacon and without croutons
S: Celery stick with cream cheese
D: ribs (no sauce on mine), slaw and salad with oily dressing, feta, olives and cucumber.

Qq re double cream. What fat% should I be looking for? The cheaper double cream has 35% milk fat, the expensive one is 45%

dillite · 18/05/2015 16:36

I have no weight loss to report as I don't have any scales to weigh myself Grin, but I am 2 days behind everyone anyway.

Today's food
Breakfast- scrambled eggs cooked with butter and cream with bacon
Lunch- steak cooked in coconut oil with an oily salad
snack- 2 pieces of cheese
Dinner- low carb sausages with buttery broccoli and beans

Tomorrow I am going to cook some pork bellies, any ideas on what to glaze them with? Usually I do a honey and apple sauce, but it's not low carb, so any ideas would be appreciated

GuyMartinsSideburns · 18/05/2015 16:38

Sorry - could someone add my weight please? 122. I don't have a laptop now, and can't seem to enter my weight using my phone or iPad. Thanks very much Flowers

B - scrambled eggs with butter
L - Prawn salad with Mayo
D - not sure yet, possibly an omlette. Dh has made friends with an egg man and now we have about a million (free range) eggs in the house Grin

LondonBetti · 18/05/2015 16:42

apply 8lbs is amazing Star

I'm down 2.5lbs, delighted since a fair few proseccos snuck in over the weekend Grin

Kleptronic · 18/05/2015 17:40

I only lost 1lb, but on the other hand I got a surprise AF 5 days early. That's unheard of for me. Wondering if WOE and early AF are connected. I'm going for 1st ivf appointment thurs so naturally fret.

On the plus side maybe I've lost more and it's smothered in premenstrual water retention...

Hangonaminutewillyou · 18/05/2015 17:43

Hello everyone!

I've been struggling to keep up with all the chat on the other thread and not had time to post till now. I've been enjoying reading about what everyone is eating and getting some inspiration though. I will definitely try to contribute when I get the chance. Here's todays meals for you:

B: FF greek yog with lots of double cream
L: Surprisingly yummy chicken, bacon and guacamole salad at a frenzied zoo-like softplay centre. Added a couple of sachets of mayo but the spinach salad dressing was also oily
D: Not sure what to have tonight but so far have had another bowl of FF greek yog with added cream to keep me going a bit longer. Might do a chicken fajita supper (minus the fajita for me) for me DH and DS.

So, I did my weigh in this morning and was chuffed to see I'm down to 64.5 kg (the scales I have aren't too accurate but I'm definitely less than I was a week ago today!). I've been feeling so much happier about myself and DH has noticed the difference too :-) Amazing what you can achieve in just a week really isn't it.

I found the first few days the hardest and actually the first day was a bit of a disappointing fail as I couldn't resist helping my DS consume the microwave cake in a mug that he insisted we make...but the cravings for sugar/carbs have definitely got much more under control as the week progressed. My fail on the first day made me even more determined to stick to the plan for the rest of the week. I had an absolutely cracking headache all day on Wednesday and a bit of one on Thursday. I very rarely get headaches so I'm assuming it was the infamous "carb flu".

My main struggle is drinking enough water. I've been so busy the day just disappears and I realise I can't drink my quota otherwise I'll be on the loo all night. I'm needing a wee most of the time as it is so god knows what it would be like if I did manage to drink what I needed to!

Anyway, that's enough from me!Here's to another good week ahead for all!

p.s. Condolences to Suzy - good luck with staying on track and don't beat yourself up if its too hard to be as good as you'd like to be at such an awful time x

BerylStreep · 18/05/2015 18:14

Afternoon, just back from a long weekend away. Haven't had a chance to weigh myself, and probably just as well. Back on track from today though.
