This is a thread following the legal and ethical questions raised by the recent court case involving Charlie Gard.

Please could we refrain from insulting or otherwise "bashing" his parents. It isn't in the spirit of Mumsnet and will get the threads removed.

Please could we also remember that at the heart of this case is a terminally ill baby and his heartbroken parents. There are those participating in and watching this thread for whom these issues are painful. Please let's try and be mindful of them when we post. This isn't a place for name calling or trivialising the very real pain they feel. Many parents of severely disabled children are on here.

I always wonder why people want to downplay the abuse that the Drs are getting.
I can't understand it.

Why would hoards of people be allowed into the hospital? They will be prepared. The real problem is the ££££ this will cost that is taken away from other patients. Are CA really that big? I don't think so. Social
Media is not the same as direct action.

TartanDMs, she herself has 'bumped' threatening comments in the past, I doubt that she is doing it for any reason other than been advised to by the police or lawyers.

Laura Gard is in no small way responsible for this. She uses that page to whip people into a frenzy

Charlie was not born too soon. GOSH we're intending to try it before Charlie had fits and deteriorated. In January I think. I hope the other parents stay away from this case.

Seriously, are we forgetting that MPs have been attacked and killed in the past.

Of course the staff are at risk even if it's being compared to death threats that MPs receive.

Yes Laura Gard has bumped posts containing threats and deleted posts that object to them. Chris and Laura's brother was posting earlier about how their corruption and lies will be exposed. The wider family certainly have alot to answer for in terms of whipping up negativity against the hospital and creating the atmosphere that has allowed threats to flourish.

So another case which could go on and on and get american attention.

The comment about the hate mail is pretty disingenuous. I don't suppose the CA followers are the ones who have been involved in the hate mail to the family, but the hate mail and slurs towards the staff and legal team have been very public and graphic.

Alfie, I think, is another very poorly baby whose case hasn't got any publicity and whose parents are trying to raise £15k. Someone posted a link to their GoFundMe page on the CA Facebook page, and it was deleted by the admins and the poster ticked off because it was "disrespectful to Charlie".

I'm sure I've seen a few people on here mentioning they are taking screenshots of that deplorable place, maybe if you are one on those posters get in touch with GOSH. Personally if I were wise enough to have the screenshots I'd be posting them on twitter because they are going to backtrack.

Apparently these threats must be coming from trolls trying to discredit CA. Haven't they been reading their own page?

As some people do not have access to FB, others may have access but their commitments may prevent them from reading it, I do not think there is a problem in posting CA posts here in a measured way.
After all, if nothing else, if demonstrates how such pressure must make it difficult for C&C to make their decision or to cooperate with GOSH.

Is there any way the Met Police can put a cordon around GOSH to keep these whackjobs away? I would assume that families with actual business with GOSH would have some type of paperwork for their child to show the police to get inside any 'secure zone'. And GOSH staff would have their badges.
