This is a thread following the legal and ethical questions raised by the recent court case involving Charlie Gard.

Please could we refrain from insulting or otherwise "bashing" his parents. It isn't in the spirit of Mumsnet and will get the threads removed.

Please could we also remember that at the heart of this case is a terminally ill baby and his heartbroken parents. There are those participating in and watching this thread for whom these issues are painful. Please let's try and be mindful of them when we post. This isn't a place for name calling or trivialising the very real pain they feel. Many parents of severely disabled children are on here.

Indeed, ridiculous given that you can on most other media outlets.

Many children with the same cancer as DS are treated at GOSH and this is making life even tougher for these poor families who are already going through a horrendous time.

THat was a live video that went up 28 minutes ago saying they don't condone violence or threats against staff..

Yep mine were deleted. Also email sent to me to confirm i understood policy. First time I've been deleted, still had to say what I had been stifling for aged with some agreement too.

Thanks. It wont stop the threats through. I suspect many might come from abroad.

well I suggest u re read. The only person qualified enough to make this decision is the US doctor, I too have read many papers & have 19 years under my belt in a high up clinical position within the NHS, although I do not specialise in MDDS I do respect opinions of those who do & are at the top of their game

I am very concerned if this is true.

If a direct quote, that's really not the spelling and grammar of someone in a "high up clinical position".

People in senior clinical roles do not describe themselves as having a 'high up clinical position'.

It's a c&p, I just removed the name of the person that she was replying to.

She certainly was involved with whipping up the army and blocking people who tried to correct information.

I posted several threads ago that I was worried that the online mob might rile up the type of person who would shoot an abortion doctor or bomb a clinic. Some of the pro life rantings I've seen, in particular some of the aggressive religious stuff in some of the 'prayers', do nothing to reassure me. I really hope there is good security surrounding the staff and hospital as a whole.

They will need some good security next week if the judge upholds his original decision.

Wow. So the admin spend weeks whipping people up into a frenzy, blocking anyone who dares ask a question, encourages protests, leaves up posts accusing the hospital of drugging Charlie with too much morphine, apparently names the staff...and then has the audacity today to scold all of the members and tell them to behave themselves.

I hope the people who went too far are punished, but at the same time I wish the admin would get off their high horses and stop being so smug.

Interesting that C felt the need to post on the GOSH page.

Seems GOSH are getting more supportive comments now and so CA are upping the criticism of GOS.

I wonder if the consultant (and other high profile staff) will ever feel safe again. Absolutely vile and unacceptable behaviour.

Yes I said that upthread about having visions of a mass storming of the hospital. This case should never have gone public its really frightening the amount if vile people around. Its as if all their dissatisfaction can be channeled into any cause that comes along.

I really hope people are prosecuted. I can't imagine the stress and level of fear the team must feel.
