Half way through a long, messy renovation and feeling a bit disheartened.

What gorgeous things could I use to decorate/kit out my newly improved home when it's finished - approx a million weeks from now?

Money is no object massive lie

Couple of links for sellers I've used.

Gates! They were finally hung on Thursday. The fence is nearly up too. The front of the house looks better already.

Our next beautiful purchase will be.... a boiler Grin. I think I will find it very beautiful indeed too, since our old one died a horrible death yesterday Sad

What period is your property?

Ours was finished in 1960 and I've very much kept that in mind with décor, accessories etc.

Not bought recently but my favourite house purchase ever is a spectre wax lampshade. Its in our bedroom and brings me great joy.

We're halfway through decorating this bedroom, walls are sort of a wedgewood/ teal like blue and the paper not yet up) is gold! DH is not convinced but I've promised if he does not like it it can come down (I'm lying, obvs).

This is the light, but with a copper fitting and retro fabric cord.

Have also just picked out elephants breath for our sitting room.

That's a farrow and ball colour! Blush

Two Bristol Blue Glass kitties to go with my small collection.

This is what my mantelpiece looks like now. The painting is by my mum.

I bought a white wooden full-length mirror jewelry cabinet a bit like this one. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be a bit naff, but I care not a jot because I'm so excited about having all my beads and bangles and stuff neatly stored and not hooked on the wardrobe door getting dusty and clattering about.

Go to you nearest Lakeland shop and get yourself a catalogue. You can't beat a good browse through a Lakeland catalogue.

ChocAuVin · 29/04/2017 22:24

Not terribly grand but I got two lovely ceramic solar lanterns from Waitrose which I am inordinately pleased with.

Every home needs a blue crushed velvet dog in a cravat.

Kmills Is it a composite door? Can I ask how much please? We're looking at getting one so trying to get a rough idea of cost without asking for quotes just yet.

Cynicaloldgimmer · 29/04/2017 22:30

Amazon Echo (Alexa) and a whole heap of Philips Hue stuff. And a pair of comfy secondhand sofas off eBay.

OhMrBadger · 29/04/2017 22:31

Poverty that sofa is beautiful! What is the decor like in your living room?

We've recently moved and I've bought:

2 vintage frameless mirrors from EBay to go with my existing one. Creating a gallery wall of mirrors in the hallway.

A vintage school chair with metal legs for DC's room. Am after a vintage desk too.

A vintage style metal wall storage unit to go above said vintage desk. www.amazon.co.uk/Retro-Industrial-Style-Green-Storage/dp/B01K4NYO3Q?tag=mumsnetforum-21

New antiqued black metal escutcheons and house numbers to adorn my newly painted front door www.morehandles.co.uk/ludlow-foundries-covered-escutcheon-lf5546.html and www.morehandles.co.uk/ludlow-foundries-numerals.html

Vintage bookcase from eBay which I painted emerald green.

Vintage dressing table from eBay.

New outdoor light for over front door www.coxandcox.co.uk/lighting/outdoor-lights/stable-light-grey-and-brass

So many more things I'd like. So small are the funds. 😔

NoCapes · 29/04/2017 22:34

Oh I love this thread Grin

I'm at the painting stage of a downstairs reno and all my old stuff is bothering me in the new setting, so this has come at the perfect time, I fear this will cost me money ...

PuckeredAhole · 29/04/2017 22:39

We bought a beautiful dining table a lot like this:

4.bp.blogspot.com/-Oouk_E86D1o/USTp9GiDzsI/AAAAAAAAAVc/Xw4agfFBMOU/s1600/PINE+DINING+TABLE+110.25%2522W+X+39.25%2522D+X+30.5%2522H+%25243495.png

Worth every penny. It's my forever table and any future move will have to accommodate it!

SamPotatoes · 29/04/2017 22:40

Well I tried to buy this: www.marksandspencer.com/padstow-large-2-door-larder-unit/p/p22095349?prevPage=plp&pdpredirect

I have been coveting it for months. Unfortunately it turns out M&S customer service is utterly dreadful and 2 weeks later I'm no closer to knowing if it is ever going to turn up...

PuckeredAhole · 29/04/2017 22:43

That's a nice larder. It reminds me that my next big purchase will be a modern welsh dresser!!!

Kennethnoisewater · 29/04/2017 22:47

Redecorated a lounge recently, I'm 'magnolia averse' you might say! But I'm in love with the sofa most of all ......

Puckered- I should have got a nice Welsh dresser. If M&S doesn't pull their finger out i will be cancelling my order and buying one. plus stopping spending a fortune on their food to put in my cupboards

Kennethnoisewater · 29/04/2017 22:48

Don't know where the pics went!
