I have started a new thread as our previous one is nearly full. Name changed so I won’t forever be the OP. Originally for non early entry applicants I am sure anyone who would like to can be on this thread as we wait for final decisions to come in, negotiate UCAS extra and hope that the results will match the offers come August.

Thanks @AnonymousThreadStarter especially as I'm not in the school system so don't really have others to chat with.

We are stressing slightly over London accommodation as we wait for offer holder days to come round so ds can make a firm decision. So many parts of the process seem unnecessarily tricky!

hellypad · 17/03/2023 16:19

Oh thansk @AnonymousThreadStarter I was getting worried no one would start a new thread We've moved onto the next step now as DD has competed her Ucas application by firming Warwick and Birmingham as her insurance. We were at the Warwick offer holder day last weekend and she still loved it.

PettsWoodParadise · 17/03/2023 17:33

Thank you @AnonymousThreadStarter and for welcoming us early application lot too! I did gate crash the previous thread as it was still relevant and everyone so welcoming.

DD has three offers in, still waiting on two responses. UCL emailed to say ‘due to a high volume….we are still reviewing your application’’. Durham have said she will hear by 21st April. She has decided to hold out until 21st April just in case Durham offer is lower than her top choice offer. A friend of hers doing classics has an offer of 3 As from Durham so if she also got 3 As (also doing an arts subject) she would firm her top choice which is A star A A and have Durham as insurance but we suspect it will either be a rejection or at same level as top choice in which case York becomes the insurance.

Thoughts are with those on the super collective courses like economics.

PettsWoodParadise · 17/03/2023 17:35

*competitive ! Totally the opposite of ‘collective’

Titsywoo · 17/03/2023 17:41

Dd just got her final response and got declined for psychology at Exeter. I'm quite surprised as she had the grades plus an EPQ and a great PS. It is a popular course though.

Anyway she had already pretty much decided Exeter wasn't the place for her so has just firmed Cardiff and gone with Sussex as her insurance. So all is good.

Revising is going well so just got to get those grades!

WendyWebersdrugget · 17/03/2023 18:23

Hello again and thanks for the new thread! Eldest is home from York this weekend for Easter break and youngest is currently holding offers from Southampton and Manchester and I suspect that will be the lot!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/03/2023 18:35

Hello everyone - sounds like some positive decisions are being made.

We still don’t seem to have any offer holder days lined up. Not sure how choices will be made. Still waiting on two but losing a bit of hope for those as it is Economics and it is competitive out there. DS wants a gap year so less accommodation stress for us.

KittyMcKitty · 17/03/2023 19:23

Thanks for the new thread. Dd has firmed Durham and insured York - we’re off to offer holders next week so that she can decide on her college ranking (and then cross her fingers she gets one she ranks highly - and then cross them more that she gets the grades).

Bobadob18 · 17/03/2023 20:20

Hope it’s ok to join. I was following the other thread but didn’t get round to posting. I found it very informative. DD has applied for architecture. She has an offer holder day for Newcastle next week but is absolutely desperate for UCL and still hasn’t heard anything. Or from Edinburgh. She is getting very disheartened and would just love to know either way. Good luck to anyone else waiting for offers.

cmcc22 · 17/03/2023 23:36

Update here. DS has rejected his offer from Newcastle and gone into Extra for International Development with Economics at Bath. Got everything crossed - again!!

Good luck with that. Do you know how long it will take to go through?

QueenofLouisiana · 18/03/2023 00:39

Hoping it’s ok to join as a new entrant?

Feels like it’s been a long slog to get to this point! Waiting for accommodation to open now, DS is keen to avoid a shared bathroom and I’m keen to avoid the very most expensive choices. 🤣

Bobadob18 · 18/03/2023 06:48

Gosh I feel so unknowledgeable! What is Extra? I haven’t heard of it!

Era · 18/03/2023 07:08

With extra you can make an extra application if either you’ve not had any offers or if you reject all the offers you are holding. You can see what courses are in extra on the ucas site. It gives an opportunity for those who have changed their mind about courses or who have been unlucky with their first applications.

cmcc22 · 18/03/2023 07:13

@Tree543 thanks for the good wishes. He emailed Bath admissions in advance and they confirmed they had places and his application would be considered but not timeline. Hoping it's relatively quick as if it's unsuccessful he has a few more he can try. But theoretically it could easily be April/May.

cptartapp · 18/03/2023 07:15

DS2 has firmed York for Mchem with Liverpool his insurance. Accomodation requests done. Mock results just starting to come in.

Bobadob18 · 18/03/2023 07:17

Thank you for the explanation about Extra. That’s very helpful

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 18/03/2023 07:21

Can I join?
Got 2 going through UCAS. DS1 is currently away doing an Art Foundation and is holding BA offers from UWE, DMU and Leeds. Waiting for Brighton and UCL (loosing hope there). Off to UWE offer holder day end April and it's his 1st choice but I read awful stuff about lack of accommodation in Bristol... his offer is unconditional which helps.
DS2 has 3 offers from Exeter, Sheffield and Birmingham for medicine and now needs to pick. 2 offer holder days soon. Such a lot to juggle!

Aurea · 18/03/2023 08:01

Best of luck CMC22. 🍀🤞
Hoping for a quick decision for you both.

Charliebong · 18/03/2023 09:09

My DD is waiting on Birmingham (Nursing). She interviewed 2 weeks ago and it’s her first choice so really hoping for a positive offer…just want to know either way. She’s had offers from Keele, Nottingham, Worcester and York but typically her heart is set on the one that’s taking it’s time.

Good luck to all those still waiting.

NotDonna · 18/03/2023 09:25

Thanks for the new thread. Just to update DD is firming Bath (Business) and insuring York (International Management). She’s an offer holder day at Bath in a couple of weeks.

@cmcc22 that looks like a fabulous course doesn’t it? So pleased he’s gone for it. I have everything crossed for him and hope the decision is speedy!

NotDonna · 18/03/2023 09:31

@Lottsbiffandsmudge 2 going through the process can’t be easy! Well done to them both securing great offers! What does DS1 want to do a BA in? Just being nosey!

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 18/03/2023 09:43

@NotDonna Fine Art BA for DS1 he went away for Foundation to DMU thinking he might move towards a design type BA but no his heart is in Fine Art!!!

PettsWoodParadise · 18/03/2023 13:27

Lots of exciting firming going on. DD still waiting on some answers so not firming yet.

Saw this about York which some people have mentioned, could be DD's insurance. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-64983135
