For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg
here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

the jury are still out as to exactly how many portions an innocent smoothie contains and i think the general consensus was that humzingers don't count but otherwise...come one come all!!!

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 26/03/2010 18:30
Smile
pointydog · 26/03/2010 18:47

full time specs or part time specs?

dd2 got part time specs and was delighted. She loves wearing them sometimes but was dreading having to wear them all the time.

Glasses can be quite the modern thing these days. Not like the nhs pink, blue or clear plastic.

SuperBunny · 26/03/2010 19:21

TooT, PLEASE post here. I don;t think any of us here are pissed off with you. I miss you.

I don't know about Cauliflower

SuperBunny · 26/03/2010 19:26

Glasses ARE cool.

What are JJS magic leaves?

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 26/03/2010 19:31

full time specs

Thanks bunny

JJ grows organic veg in the town where i work, and we sell some in the shop
he picks salad leaves in the mornings and brings them straight in...currently rocket, mibuna, mizuna and mustard...so yummy
People go mad for his tomatoes...people hear they are in the shop and come rushing into town in their gardening clothes before they all go

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 26/03/2010 19:32

can i roast my sweet potatoes in rapeseed oil? Have run out of olive

pointydog · 26/03/2010 20:07

ah, full time specs.I'd just make sure she loves teh pair she gets. You get used to them.

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 26/03/2010 20:19

Shechose them herself. They are purplewith blue patterns up the arms.
Spose it's quitea big deal when you are 4. but they should help a lot, apparently her sight pr4oblems are considerable.

pointydog · 26/03/2010 20:37

oh, she is only 4! I presumed she was older so much of what I said is probably irrelevant.

SuperBunny · 26/03/2010 20:50

She'll look Fab

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 26/03/2010 21:37

She does look very sweet. bunny, maybe you will get to see on Sunday...? yourtext only arrivedalittle whileago. Phone been playing up today.

TigerFeet · 28/03/2010 11:25

Toooooot so pleased you are here

DD1 was the envy of all her friends when she started wearing glasses aged 3 - she chose the pinkest pair on the shelf and one little girl was actually in tears because she couldn't have a pair. Not sure where dd1 gets this pink obsession from tbh, I'm the world's least pink person I reckon! She is rebelling early....

Anyhoo dd1 is now 5 1/2 and has had no problems with her peers wrt her glasses, and she wears a patch all morning too and no problems there either. It's quite common now and you can get some fab frames - dd1 has some (non pink ) mr tickle frames that were free with the nhs voucher from specsavers

i seem to do either good eating or good exercising on any given day, but fail to do both on the same day

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 28/03/2010 17:28

Tiger

Well, Bunny and I and dcs walked up and down hills today, and exercised in the park, and partook of fruit, veg and beans. Correct me if my memory fails me, Bunny?

littlerach · 29/03/2010 13:29

What worthy 10/10ers you both are

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 29/03/2010 16:53
TigerFeet · 31/03/2010 10:53

i am suspecting chocolate and cider/wine

i can't drink atm, it makes me too tired and seems to affect dd2 the following day, if i have a glass or two she is really grumpy

i coud kill a glass of wine

i luuuurve my wine [weep]

SuperBunny · 31/03/2010 19:29

Yes, yes, there were hills and beans. And I'm sure there were tons of veg and fruit. Well def root veg crisps Somewhere. Definitely.

littlest tootlet looked fab in her new specs. I have some lovely photos I must send to you, TooT.

How's everyone?

I've been busy. Lost the house I was about to exchange contracts on (and lots of money too ) and work is 'interesting'. Last day of term tomorrow, hurrah. DS going away next week for 10 days

Um, veg. And Fruit.

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 31/03/2010 21:55

No, no choc or cider/wine. Coffee beaNSAND SOYA BEANS, SO UTTERLY WORTHY [HMM]

Big hugs Bunny xx

Littlets TooTlet managed to get her new glasses unfixably broken on Monday. Andwe had paid £10 to get purple frames. So have paidagain, now waiting again. Sigh.

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 31/03/2010 21:56

oops, didn't mean to shout

TigerFeet · 02/04/2010 09:42

does anyone know whether nestle (spit) make shop's own brands of cheerios

dd1 loves them

i do hope not, we have some asda ones in the cupboard atm

SuperBunny · 02/04/2010 17:13

Oh dear, TooT. I suppose that is inevitable with a 4 yr old.

No idea, Tiger, I wondered the same re shreddies. I buy shop own ones but am not sure who makes them.

littlerach · 03/04/2010 11:41

I have a feeling that they don't.

Thsi si based on a factory shop that I have been to near here. They sometimes sell various supermarkets branded stuff but have never seen Nestle. Whereas they do sell Heinz for example. And cadburys.

Does that make sense?

Probably not

We just found an easter egg hunt that was free and you really had ot look for them, they were hidden v well!

SuperBunny · 04/04/2010 13:01

That's reassuring, LR, thanks.

Happy Easter
