For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg

I am in so much pain. My cough has caused my ribs to hurt but not in the usual way - now I can barely stand straight, I can't breathe and, once lying down, I can't get up again. And I can't get a drs appointment til next week.

MayorNaze · 12/10/2009 18:54

nice thread...

SB - call your out of hours surgery and they should see you. its madness to make you wait in pain just cos you're not necessarily on your way out if you on't see a doc in the next 30 secs for you and {{{}}}

to continue from earlier

carrot
peas
more tomatoes

and, just for the record, raspberry gin is Very Good Thing

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 12/10/2009 18:57

Gentle((((()))))), oh SB, how are you coping? that sounds dreadful.

I once pulled my intercostal muscles with a bad cough and it sounds like what you are describing. I was prescribed Co-codamol 4x daily for nearly 3 weeks and have to admit I took them gladly.

SuperBunny · 12/10/2009 20:27

I had no doubt that raspberry gin would be a good thing

I'll survive. I assume this'll sort itself out. Ibuprofen helped this morning but think I need something else now. Will have to talk to the nice man in boots.

peas
aubergine
tomatoes
onion
apple juice

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 12/10/2009 21:08

Ouch SB. If you really feel you need some pain relief from your GP you should insist on an appt asap

banana
grapes
apple
cucumber
humous
olives
tomatoes
peppers
onions

The boy and I went out for a walk today and got a fecking puncture on the way round

littlerach · 12/10/2009 21:12

Marking

SB, there has been a virus thing around here that is causing lung pain, for want of a better word, and in osme cases, infection.
You must see a dr if you need one.

Catch up later, this is my week from hell! I am working every day and the dds have various events/activities and I prob won't sit down at all!!

TooTicky · 13/10/2009 19:43

I am going to see the delightful Mits tomorrow

Big, gentle hugs to all those who need them xx

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 13/10/2009 19:48

Have you stopped consuming things that make you leak gaseously yet young lady?

TooTicky · 13/10/2009 19:56

You will have to judge that for yourself....

TooTicky · 13/10/2009 20:02

Oh oh I surely must declare my whole tin of kidney beans on here....and 4 very small tomatoes...

littlerach · 13/10/2009 20:58

Have a lovely time you two

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 14/10/2009 08:35

Have a lovely time Mits and Toot! A full report is expected when you get back!

yesterday:

banana
grapes
carrot x2
cauliflower
humous

TigerFeet · 14/10/2009 17:46

Yay Mits & TooT, have a good time

SB, if you are in pain you must go and see the quack. They will give you some proper pain relief. When dh herniated his intercostal muscles he was given something opiatey. He did that through coughing. Have a gentle cuddle

Apple
Nectarine
Carrot Sticks
Salad x 2
Coleslaw
mushrooms, courgettes, assorted beans, tomato, onion (prob 3 in total)

I will have another apple or something later to make 10

I must have walked a couple of miles today, this is the start of my get up of your arse regime.

The salad and coleslaw were had at our local bf support group. In return for the measly sum of £1 you get a jacket spud complete with various trimmings. And cake. Bargain.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 14/10/2009 18:11

Toot will not be available to report for some time due to driving home, but it was a brilliant day, even though we were planning a sneak attack on some haughty furrin' visitors who looked us both up and down as if deciding if we were exhibits in the exhibition. It was Toot who threatened to trip them up - 'honest!!

We went to the Sculpture Show at Chatsworth, which was brilliant, and in some undeniably sublime settings.

Would make a fabulous setting for an Autumn veggers meet one year.

We both had salad and apples and juice....

I hope you are all well. Any sign of recovery yet SB?

FrayedKnot · 14/10/2009 20:17

SB hope you got to the Dr in the end?

Mits and TooT, glad you had a lovely day.

Sculpturey things are usually lovely and inspiring

Just back. Am fuckwit who can drive to places but not back.
Fab day with Mits.
Those people were extreeemely haughty and attitudey and I think I also suggested throwing apple cores at them. Very 10/10.
Mits said wicked things that made me laugh lots but I can't remember any of them now.
Been tired all the way home but don't think I can sleep. Am in bad books for being late back.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 15/10/2009 07:31

I am in love with this piece, it was very Gaudi-esque and like a sculptural version of one of my paintings...so if anyone is ever stuck for what to buy me as a little pressie...

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 15/10/2009 07:47

Hurrah for a lovely vegger meet-up! Glad you had a lovely time

littlerach · 15/10/2009 08:09

Had emergency dr apt and am on codiene for rib & cough. Thanks for making me go.
