For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg

not worried, exactly, more worried that he would never come out at all...
Or New year's day - alwatys thought that would b a particularly dismal day for a birthday, what with everything being shut, everyone being hungover and the weather being grim etc.

dh is a mid dec birthday as is my mum...

MayorNaze · 22/10/2009 16:38

evening all

so the madness that is half term begins...if you don't see me for a bit that will be why...

i saw this band last night - v fab but i was at least 10 years older than the vast majority there. which actually makes a pleasant change as usually at gigs i am on average 10 years younger than most people ah well...

today i have had no f&v at all (in fact no food except a large pasty)and no exercise either unless you count srpinting madly round supermarket stocking up on f&v and other luxuries like loo roll etc

but i am well on the way to remedying that - 5, yes 5 portions of veg are steaming away as i type and the fruit bowl is brimming i will munch my way through it this evening while i iron on 86,00000 name labels on dd1s kit for brownie camp tomorrow. she is so little

cold is gone whoohoo!

i am also slightly fearful of aubergines, also of artichokes... i'm just not sure where to begin with cooking them...

hello pink

and {{{{{{}}}}}} fresh and fruity hugs for you all

MayorNaze · 22/10/2009 16:40

i also still have raspberries in garden and allotment! and tomatoes, in fact, one plant clearly has got its seasons confused and is doing splendidly still...

what is this festival christmas of which you speak? surely it is but a myth...

ThePinkOne · 22/10/2009 20:00

I'm seeing Tigerfeet next week! She sounds like it's going ok but is preferring to sleep than come on the t'internet

littlerach · 22/10/2009 20:41

Give them all hugs from us Pink

We were supposd to go to Longleat today but it poured so we went to Bath and dis a bit of christmas shopping.

SuperBunny · 22/10/2009 20:47

My mum's bday is New Yrs day. Always works out quite nicely really. But any birthday round that time of yr is not ideal.

No F&V. Might make chutney tomorrow.

Hope TF & Pink have good meetup next week.

MayorNaze · 23/10/2009 12:22

dd1 is at brownie camp

she was fine til the absolute last minute then had to be peeled off me by a leader

really really hope she will be ok

homesickness is rubbish, especially when you're little

mwahhahahamwahahahallyroger · 23/10/2009 14:34

my skin looks like cold porridge at the moment. meh. And I have a week off and no money

enjoy your meet up, tigery and pink people!

TigerFeet · 23/10/2009 17:16

ello

am typing one handed

we are doing well, dd2 is going to be a butterball baby like her sister was

all squidgy thighs and chubby cheeks

she feeds a lot still

she is fab though

am eating lots of f&v and lots of cake

and carting increasingly heavy baby round in a sling

dd1 thankfully on half term as of today, she is knackered bless her and it's had an effect on her behaviour she adores her baby sister though

Pink we are going to bake cookies

we have lots of pumpkins, already made soup, what else can we do with them? we have some ickle ones that I may stuff with quinoa or couscous or sausage meat or summat

mwah mwah much fruity love

Boco · 23/10/2009 17:21

Hello veggers, I haven't found this thread for aaaages. Good to hear you're doing so well Tiger!

Have just had a whole night away to go to a gig with dp which was great, came straight back in time for school pick up and am now dazed and sleep deprived.

Have been rubbish vegger, must do better.

TigerFeet · 23/10/2009 17:35

hey boco

are you responsible for the hand painted tiger cub card? it's lovely, it has pride of place on the mantlepiece

Boco · 23/10/2009 17:39

Glad you like it

ABitWrong · 23/10/2009 19:00

Tiger my love make curry with cocxonuts, Ask Molly she is a star.
Boco I have missed you.
Have consumed many apples in liquidand fermented form.
Love you all xx

Boco · 23/10/2009 19:26

ABW haven't seen you for ages, how are you doing?

MayorNaze · 23/10/2009 19:38

no call from brownie camp yet...am eating chocolate, sod it.

make pumpkin pie OMG it is so lush

put the apple products down ABW.

i'm guessing now would not be the time to mention that i distracted myself from worrying about dd1 by making marrow wine, blackberry vodka and cider... plus racked my damson and grape wines into new demijohns to clear. i may have accidentally ingested quite a lot of the damson while creating enough suction for the pipe to work...hic...

tomorrow will be devoted to baking

mwahahahamwahahahallyroger · 23/10/2009 20:13

oh ABW - did that curry squash thing work for you ? I hate giving out my made-up recipes, in case I am a terrible cook who thinks she is a domestic goddess!

ABitWrong · 23/10/2009 20:36

it was blimming gorgeous Moll

Boco, have missed you, i am a crock of shit, luvs ya

pointyhat · 23/10/2009 20:50

mwahahahamwahahahallyroger · 24/10/2009 15:53

the sun has come out now, making a major hole in my guilt-free day of blobbing around eating cake and not achieveing anything.

Home made pizz for dinner with lots of salad.
Pear
Apple
Raspberries.
hmm can't seem to smash past 5 or 6 portions at the moment.

OliviaMumsnet · 24/10/2009 15:56

MayorNaze · 24/10/2009 15:57

no call from brownie camp feel bit better now, now she has got through first night then sure rest will be plain sailing

made marshmallows and fudge with ds and dd2 but not sure either are going to set...

{{{{{{}}}}}} sticky hugs all round

mwahahahamwahahahallyroger · 24/10/2009 16:12

thanks olivia. Course, it would have been better if we'd gone for 'pricking of my plums' but plums bring out the worst of the collective MN gutter-minded humour

oh Mayo, the waiting for the phone call is awful . Well done to mini-mayor for showing her mettle.

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 24/10/2009 18:29

Hurrah for no call from Brownie camp

I am in awe at you making marshmellows Mayor. I watched HF-W make them and they seemed v tricky.

olives
banana
grapes
tomatoes
carrots
cauli
brocolli (sp?)
apple

I watched Up yesterday I adored it. I wamt to go to Paradise Falls and meet Kevin!

For those of you who eat pumpkin, do you like it? I think I must have had a bad experience when I was younger as I thought it was rank

Hello Boco

mwahahahamwahahahallyroger · 24/10/2009 18:34

tbh I only really like pumpkin when it has had so many other things added it is unrecognisable....

like coconut milk and garlic and chillis in a soup.

Or pecans and suagr and that in a pie....

FrayedKnot · 24/10/2009 18:35

Evening

I am reviving fresh fruit and icecream as a pudding

It's been a while since I've listed and it's scraping a 7 but I'm trying, really I am.

Grated Carrot x 2
Leaves
Cucumber
Raspberries
Blueberries
Veg soup

No exercise though. Feeling a bit washed out. I went to bed at 7pm last night and got up at 7am. With short interlude about 1am to actually get undressed, brush teeth etc
