For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Hello TooT

I was meant to go out tonight (only to a mum's night at nursery but I wanted to go) but my sister hasn't turned up to babysit. I've missed it now and haven't done any of the work I needed to do because I thought I was going out. So now I am behind on my work and pissed off.

SuperBunny · 23/11/2009 19:57

Oh, now she posted on FB that she is on her way round. I think she forgot she promised to come early and babysit. So now I am behind on my work, pissed off and have to entertain the person who pissed me off. Confused

ThePinkOne · 23/11/2009 20:21

I was very good last night. Light off by half 9 and I got up this morning and made DH breakfast. (He has to leave at 6.30 and has a long drive )

Going to have an early one again.

Stir fry veg with prawns and noodles tonight, lunch was sandwich with tomato, cuc, lettuce, avocado. Raisins, apple juice. Not bad. And huge amounts of exercise. I walked to an activity for the kids which I thought was somewhere (half hour walk away) and got there to discover it had moved. Another 20 mins away

Gnocci sounds gorge!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/11/2009 08:00

SB - yes go to your GP about a hearing test. A good test to do at home is put the tv or radio on and when they are facing away from you ask them if they would like some chocolate/a biscuit etc. If they hear that you know things are pretty much ok

Men and children both suffer from a condition called selective hearing. My bil was sent to the GP by my sister and he said there was nothing wrong he just needs to pay more attention

yesterday:

banana
blueberries
cumcumber
grapes
smoothie
onion

littlerach · 24/11/2009 19:31

Today:
Grapes
pear
raisins
carrots
parsnips
sweet potato
broccoli
banana

Well, I actually feel rather proud )for once)!!

TooTicky · 25/11/2009 20:44

bit quiet in here

FrayedKnot · 25/11/2009 21:22

Hello TooT

Blueberries
Satsuma
Innocent Veg Pot (on offer in Sainsbo's)
Two salad pittas
Raw carrot

SB I think I would get it checked. My DSS had hearing problems that were not picked up on for a while when he first started school and it caused a few problems I think.

However, I do notice DS has extremely selective hearing these days

He gets very engrossed in things and clearly doesn;t like to be interrupted to e.g. put his school shoes on or get ready for a bath

Wonder why

Pink I think you need to award yourslef a sticker

Hi TooT! Haven't seen you f'rages!

Hi everyone!

Feel rotten today. Going to bed in a minute.

Did a BLW talk at clinic today. Spreading the word

SuperBunny · 26/11/2009 21:57

Oh bugger. I don't have time to have it checked! Will see what I can do - I do suspect it is not an actual hearing problem but I want to be absolutely sure. A couple of things have happened last week that really made me wonder. Thanks for the advice. Pink, how is your DS hearing? Am I allowed to ask? Don't want to be insensitive...

1 bite of apple
baked beans
toffee (several)
biscuit (2)

Where is moondog with her decimals?

SuperBunny · 26/11/2009 22:14

Hallo TooT

ThePinkOne · 27/11/2009 15:03

Not insensitive! Had a crap hosp appointment in the summer. They couldn't do the right test cause he wasn't old enough and his hearing in the bad ear is better than they told us origianally and then they were running late so we had to pay an extra couple of quid for the 6 minutes we went over on the car park

Basically it doesn't seem like it's ever going to cause a problem cause it's so slight but now that we're in the system they want to keep testing to see if they were right initially

But he's fine!

Just sneaking on in the day!! Naughty but I've been poorly so letting myself off a bit today

Lunch was very 10/10. I made 2 different bean dips and an avocado one and had courgette, carrot, cuc, toms, mushrooms, cheese and pitta with them. Making chicken nuggets for tea. Hopefully with dd but probably not.

SuperBunny · 27/11/2009 22:50

Don't make DD into chicken nuggets, Pink

Am glad DS is ok.

I went out tonight. Worth announcing because I never go out as a grown up by myself in the evening to a pub and for dinner. with grown ups. And no children.

MayorNaze · 28/11/2009 17:30

hello

oj
apple
cabbage
carrot
onion
brocolli
green beans

no exercise to speak of apart from cleaning but have been dead good this week - davina dvd on 3 days plus swimming yesterday! but so busy doing the exercise that no time to post about it...

the radio and choccie biccie test is a good 'un SB. my DS is actually deaf and has hearing aids but it is amazing how he can hear "would you like some sweets" but misses completely "please go and tidy your room."

i like the sound of gnocchi, have never had it. where would one find it in the supermarket? i have a recipe but would like to know vaguely what it's supposed to be like first.

ah, BLW...i have a cracking pic of dd2 aged 7 months grasping a hapf eaten apricot in her little baby paw...bless...

hot choc with marshmallows flavoured hugs all round

littlerach · 28/11/2009 20:58

Gnocchi is v different to anything!

It is little balls of potatoe and flour, I think.

I buy it in Aldi where t is next to pasta and sauce. Tis cheap too!

Have eaten own body weight in pears all week (on offer in Aldi) and they were delicious too

SuperBunny · 28/11/2009 22:36

Gnocchi also in pasta section of local tesco wholefood shop and sometimes in the fresh pasta section.

Had lovely day out today but spoiled somewhat by DS throwing up all over my sister's car on way home. She was lovely about it, as was her poor emetophobic DP

MayorNaze · 29/11/2009 16:58

how do i cook the gnocchi then? and how/what do i serve it with?

poor you SB

MayorNaze · 29/11/2009 17:08

and what does one serve with fishcakes? can you tell i am meal planning?

SuperBunny · 29/11/2009 20:07

I am boring and tend to do gnocchi the same way each time with slight variation:

Boil gnocchi til it floats (2-3 mins or so)
Drain
Put back in pan with loads of butter & pepper.
Sprinkle with loads of cheese.

I sometimes add:
Chilli
Olives
Capers

or do it in a sauce but I prefer it as is.

No idea re fishcakes. Sweetcorn?
