Anyone else got this Virus - ongoing Nausea - I have had it for 4 weeks

Just been to the doctor. I have had Nausea now for 4 weeks. The doctor says it is a virus and I should be OK soon. He said that unlike the Norovirus this one can linger for a while. Was wondering if anyone else had anything similar and if so how long did it last. One good thing I suppose I didn't put on any weight over Christmas!!, but I would just love to feel healthy again.

Same here dh and I have had this for at least 2 weeks.haven't been sick but nauseous and exhausted too.Didn't go to the doctors as it comes in waves and sometimes a few hours passes and I think its going then bang its back

Doctor gave me some Valoid Tablets 50 mg. They are anti-sickness tablets. Told me to take these for 5 days and if it wasn't any better to come back. Do hope these will clear it up. It's getting me down.

What do the tablets do?I might go to gp friday if its still here.We both said last night we are getting used to it!

I've had this sicky feeling for a while, and strange stomach pains which move around- sometimes almost like a period, but higher up too. Feels tender as well.
Hope you feel better soon- I hate things that linger vaguely for weeks.. would rather be properly ill and sleep it off for a day or two...

notnowplease - they are supposed to take away the nausea but to be honest when I read the side effects I am not sure if I will take them at all. The doctor did say it would go away itself but that the tablets would help me feel a bit better. Let me know how you get on. Hope yours doesn't last as long as mine. Take care.

Thanks plum, yes thats how I feel lots of gurgly going on inside and cramp like pains but not that bad, but its the nausea thats the bit thats annoying me most. The doctor checked my tummy with stethoscope thingy and said there was a lot of noise going on in my tummy. He didn't seemed too worried. Everything nowadays seems to be a virus. Was there viruses years ago or are we more aware of things now?

oh hooray - so it's a virus - been feeling like this for a week - very sick for hours then can eat then fine for a day then feel very sick again.... plus exhausted all the time, have to have a lie down every now and then. and achey and a bit fluey most of the time too... it's quite annoying as it's so vague.

does this sound similar?

i assumed it wasn't a bug as dd and dh are fine

can't be doing with 4 weeks mind you...

Hope it's a bug which clears up soon.
Peanut- I had it before I had flu- got better from flu, but the stomach thing just goes on and on.

me too - gagging over an apple yet manage to eat coffee cake. it's like morning sickness - but i'm not pg - would be delighted as desperately ttc....

it's the constant fatigue which i find wearing...

and dh never believes me and never gets anything!!

Ha! Same with me! I crave rubbish, but force down veg! How curious!

so weird I can't stop eating crisps and tortilla chips etc and I feel better for a couple of hours after eating them and then it comes back.I eat v healthily normally but can't face anything.Dh and ds are having fish and chips tonight and I usually don't but am counting the minutes til they come home with the chips!

I started this afternoon with a bad headache and nausea. Came home from work early. Nausea got worse, then a few hours ago started vomiting - sure there can't be anything left! Feel bad, shivering etc. Can't believe how long you've all been suffering. Hope I haven't got what you've got and its just a 24 hour bug.

no tessie b sympathies to you - doesn't sound the same at all - sounds like you have a "proper" bug which is getting itself out of your system. hope you have an ok night...

what I've got (and I think the others here have too) is intermittent bad nausea and achiness. for about 10 days

and my sis has the same so think it's come from her.

Tablets must be working as I feel a good bit better today. Hope the rest of you are on the mend too.

Ive had same its 4th week am going to get my blood tests results to see what it is

Feelling so bad with nausea but not been sick, no appetite, been twice to doc and to a and e but they say it's a virus. This is the 3rd week. Blood tests all normal.
Anyone else had this its taken me over!

I had this a few years .... couldn’t eat for weeks. Lots heaps of weight. Eventually had an endoscopy done and I had gastritis. The nausea was awful.... like mad morning sickness all day. Ginger really helped alleviate the nausea a little

Hi Lesleyann8! Just picked up your message from a google search about viruses and nausea! I have exactly the same symptoms as you described. Two weeks of feeling terrible and no sign of improvement. No sickness but the most unbearable nausea. I had bad sickness in pregnancy with my 3 boys but nothing comparable to this! Please tell me you’re better now and it didn’t last too much longer for you! X

I have the same virus also, but I have extras haha, I have had a tight sore chest, coughing, runny & blocked nose, plus the nausea and when I snease its feels like someone has hit me over the top of my head with a plank of timber!! Funny you compared it to your pregnancies, that's just what I told a friend today, Haha I hope to God it doesnt last 4 weeks!! like the other lady described, I've has mine for 1 week now, school holidays start tomorrow and I'm a single Mum 😔 what fun!!! Hope you get better soon, looks like its spreading this year too, my son has it also, but with sore throat. Take care xx

Hi skinnyme72. I’m very happy to report that I’m finally starting to improve! I actually slept a few hours without waking with overwhelming nausea and racing heart! And I got dressed today - Woohoo! I was actually referred to hospital on Monday as I was no better. Bloods again normal. Liver results back to normal. ECG normal. They seem pretty convinced that this has been a viral illness. I’m on day 19 since I started to be ill so it’s been a real stinker. Fingers crossed it’s nearly over, as I’ve had the odd day before when I’ve felt a bit better, only to feel thoroughly vile the next day. I really hope you feel better soon. It’s horrible enough feeling ill, without having kids to look after.

Hi Skinnyme72, Yes especially while the nausea was at its worst. I thought I might faint, even though I’ve never fainted in my life. I thought there was something really badly wrong with me. I lost about 6lbs in weight too. Every cloud and all that!
