For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

hello fmf
have just posted on other one.
Will copy it in here in an attention-seeking kind of way

berolina · 22/10/2008 21:13

FK and Boco, sorry for crap day and scary driving incident. Guad, I'm sure it will be OK with the house. I was at a good friend's this afternoon - they have just had an offer accepted on a house and she is quietly terrified (bear in mind this is Germany and almost everyone rents - plus she was always utterly convinced she was never going to sucumb to Buying Property). I made comforting noises while being very jealous indeed that she is going to have a huge garden.

Just back from my gymnastics/power-yoga group. It was strenuous bordering on painful but my goodness, the high afterwards Her instructions are always very detailed and so it requires a lot of concentration and focusing, which is also good. It is so strange concentrating for a whole 1.5 hours on me and my body. Need a bath but have had to make do with a shower as ds2 needed me.

Kindergarten mum rang while we were out and left a message asking if she could take ds1 back to hers after kindergarten tomorrow or Fri to play. I do like her and ds1 gets on very well with her dd but I don't know her very well yet and am quite shock that she thinks it would be appropriate for us to let her take ds1 (quite apart from the fact that he wouldn't go by himself). AIBU? dh rang her back and said ds1 wouldn't go on his own and she said of course I could come with him, so I think we'll do that.

berolina · 22/10/2008 21:14

oh it didn't do my emoticons. Never mind.

Just about to eat big plate of veg. 8 or 9 today.

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 22/10/2008 21:15

hello Bero!
I have created this fabby new thread just for you, as I am full of snot and off to bed early...

First cold of the year though!

We are not getting a huge garden. We are getting one half the size that is full of mud and glass and probably needles and the neighbour has barbed wire on his fence. It is south facing though.

FMV - Have you gargled with cider vinegar?

FrayedKnot · 22/10/2008 21:27

Guad we call that "itchy cheese" due to the fact that it....makes my mouht tingle

Sounds very tasty though

Bero DS went to a friends on his own for the first time the other day and he is 4.5. Not sure quite how old DS1 is? Friend was a very well known one as well. Definitely you must go if you don;t know them very well, I think.

Power yoga sounds energizing

Sorry it didn;t work out today, OsBa, and TooT. I hate that getting properly lost thing, it's happened to me once or twice, I got in real panics both times.

Boco it is the law that you have to have one or two utterly horrendous driving lessons just before you take - and pass - your test.

DH will be back from gym soon....with news of iPod or not.

Must have early night tonight. I am off to a salsa evening tomorrow

FrayedKnot · 22/10/2008 21:50

No iPod...quelle surprise

SuperBunny · 22/10/2008 22:05

Grr, FK

Bero, how lovely that DS1 has been invited. Of course you should go too.

TooTIfYouAreScared · 22/10/2008 22:07

Oh dear FK I hate losing things. We lost a bag of blankets recently

Ooh Guad, really? You are kind!!
Thinking about it, I haven't seen any BoojaBooja anywhere for ages - standard of local shops must be slipping.

Oh Boco, how awful
You do tell your incidents well though. You should have a column somewhere.

Bero, I am very jealous about your yoga group!
Hope tomorrow goes well - yes, much better if you go too. Perhaps that was what the other mum was hoping but felt shy?

I have made a banana and apple and orange cake with orange cake with orange icing. How fruity is that?!!

Oh, Guad and Fumf and Mou in particular (as I know you have boys of the right age) we are reading the most wonderful book atm - Framed by Frank Cotterell Boyce. Read it to your boys, it is splendid!!
Good for girls too, and mums...

TooTIfYouAreScared · 22/10/2008 22:09

Oh Guad, meant to say, good luck with the rot!!

pinkandbluespottywellies · 22/10/2008 22:42

Oh dear OsBa. Even I know how to get to TooTtown (my mum used to love down the road and we went to a car boot there before I knew TooT!)

Just to add to the difficult children stories, dd learnt 'shut up' yesterday (assuming from toddlers when I wasn't there ) and I think I over-reacted. Maybe should've just ignored but I think she already knew it wasn't a Good Thing to say.

Guad the house will be fine in the end and you'll love it all the more that you overcame so much

Boco driving incident sounds scary and I have to say it doesn't sound like the instructor dealt with it very well. I guess he was a bit panicked too though.

Bero your class sounds wonderful. I love that post-exercise rush!

TF hope dd's getting better by the day. Has she got scabs to pick?!

pinkandbluespottywellies · 22/10/2008 22:44

Bero she perhaps wanted to ask you anyway and either worded it wrong or was shy. Hope you have a lovely time!

berolina · 23/10/2008 07:55

Good morning!

I think kindergarten mum prob did want to ask me - or maye her dd has been talking so much about ds1 that she thought it would be nice for them. It's lovely - he never had 'friends' (that you might arrange to see outside as well) at his other kindergarten, now he's already got 2 or 3. I think we will go tomorrow.

Blimmin'eck, there's a real MN exodus going on outside our fruity enclave.

Apple, banana, satsuma (first of the season), kiwi.

HMC has left, and there was someone else yesterday too, and squonk is taking a break.

Lot of oldies/prolifics seem to be jumping ship atm.

berolina · 23/10/2008 08:40

littlerach · 23/10/2008 10:55

We have been to Harvest Festival hich was lovely.
But I ma rather bunged up (just in time for Half Term).

TooTicky, Ihave emailed you, not sure if it will be of any good, but htought of you when I saw it.
In a non stalker ish way

littlerach · 23/10/2008 10:57

Guad, yes, lots of crabs ot be caught.

have to be a bit careful how you say that....

Dds absolutly loved it, even dd1 who is a bit of a wuss. WE had 3 buckets ful.

womblingalong · 23/10/2008 11:02

Am loving this title veggers!

FMF you can't leave!!! Or you Bero.

I am having lots of RL crisis atm, v, v busy and v.v tired, so I am trying to keep up with the fruity goings on, but don't have the mental energy to post coherently atm. Am missing you all tho.

daisy99divine · 23/10/2008 11:35

hello veggers! Lovely new spritely title!

sorry all cold people, have you got the one that descends into a hacking cough for a few weeks we've all had that one

sorry life is tough wombling, but stay happy and keep reading!

Bero - I think kindergarten mum wants you to come too and it sounds lovely, have fun

sorry re Toot and Osba driving incident (love new name Toot!) perhaps Osba you can just borrow a toddler to give directions for you

Guad, the house will be fab I do know the panics. For me the low point was finding the door nailed up and squatters inside - but the door lock man shouted through the hole where the letterbox should be "I am a locksmith man and will get into this house in three seconds flat. I also have a large crowbar and will break your kneecaps if you don't get out now"

I was lurking saying "oh, I don't think that's right, that's not very legal" while secretly being impressed by his manly ways and it worked. they all slunk away....

had a pear for lunch yesterday and thought of CIC see the veggers are always with me

sorry people are leaving MN, it has never really bothered me because this lovely thread is what MN is to me but I am sorry you all are sad

right, pause for breath, and gotta go

by the way Osba is the Chardless Partridge any good

rushes off.....

OsmosisBOOnana · 23/10/2008 12:54

I have to be honest... I didn't like it DD. Dh ate all of his, all of mine and what was left in the pan though!! And he doesn't like my game efforts normally.

I think it was prob down to the pickled lemons - I have had them an obscene amount of time. Twas all I could taste.

I have started my essay.

It is 212 words long.

Only 1288 to go.

OsmosisBOOnana · 23/10/2008 12:55

banana
butter beans
tomato

am going out for Chinese tonight. Without DD. Whoop!

daisy99divine · 23/10/2008 15:39

re the partridge Osba, I have never tried it, but sorry all that cooking effort was only enjoyed by DH, though impressed you had pickled lemons at all (if horribly old!)

have a lovely Chinese tonight!
