For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Yes, this thread is very lovely.

I'm wondering about lully - has anyone heard from her?

SuperBunny · 23/10/2008 21:13

I touched an apple

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 23/10/2008 21:13

I will email her tomorrow, I have also been fretting about her.
Tatties says hi, she is moving this weekend!

oh hello filth - i do love a bit of filth

are you doing boat stuff in this climate?

someone tell me tales of 10/10 chutney (toot????)

SuperBunny · 23/10/2008 22:02

FMF - please tell her I was worrying too.

I just interviewed a new babysitter and I am in love with her. I think Bero passed on her lovely babysitter vibes

berolina · 23/10/2008 22:12

oh on the babysitter front - originally intended one's work-permit application has been rejected - she is going to marry her German gf at some point soon but we can't wait any longer so she will not be happening. and frustrating for her but I admit to for myself as it has meant I have emailed the one I interviewed yesterday and offered her the job.

Risotto this evening with sweet potato, carrot, green pepper, sage, coriander

With fruit this morning and beans on toast for lunch - about 8 - I always seem to get stuck around 8 atm.

Have walked miles and miles.

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 00:12

Hello I am doing my running in late thing

Bero I am so glad your babysitting thing is working out well, that sounds splendid and good for SB too

welcome LMD, I am very newbie, but now you are here, I can sound like an old hand and say "hello" like I know what goes on

my sister cooked so I have done well today
sweetcorn (baby ones)
sugarsnap peas
beansprouts
water chestnuts (do they count?)

can you tell we had stir fry
I realise my F&V is generally non-cooked stuff, must try harder!

sorry for coughs and colds!
kisses to veggers
Pink&Blue I think you get extra points for Tiffin!!!

hope you are feeling a bit more cheery FMV and less fumfy IYKWIM

hello Slur we haven't met yet

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 00:14

SB sorry about horrid friend

and FMV can we have Killer Tomatos Clooney style next?

----Please.....

pretty please.....

have to confess when registering DS name they said I could "choose a surname" and I asked if I could choose "Clooney" and the woman looked at me funny and didn't laugh

SuperBunny · 24/10/2008 00:46

Thanks for sympathy. I'm torn between confronting 'friend' and ignoring her digs but am thinking ignoring and being the better person is best.

Mum arrives tomorrow so F&V & exercise will be even worse than usual for a week. I'm going to go to bootcamp when she leaves and only drink water and eats lots of good stuff, no junk. Promise. Honest, I will. Really.

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 02:49

SB - I agree, confronting friend will end in total split - if that's not what you want enjoy the view from the moral high ground

enjoy your Mum's visit and keep remembering there are trace vegetables in lots of things ..

the yurt will be awaiting your return!

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 24/10/2008 08:41

Bee, we went the other weekend with a Mnetter! and her family and had a lovely time.
We are not allowed to sail at the moment as we have to do some work to get a boat safety cert(£££ ulp!!) but we can stay overnight on her, so we will probably do that a couple of times if it is not too cold (no heating on boat)
Also many of the big locls are not manned durig winter so we are not allowed to navigate them.

Morning all. A week off! Yay! (Am praying dsses vague lurgies do not blossom into anything worse and I don't want to waste a week off doing a florence nightingale.

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 09:48

Enjoy your week off FMV!

raisins, banana and glass of orange juice so far

Ghouladalupe · 24/10/2008 10:01

I am very angry this morning.

Ds1 was glum after school yesterday and still this morning so I pressed him about it and he burst into tears. Apparently, in art yesterday, they had a supply teacher and ds and a few others had to throw away their work and start again as they wre told it wasn't year 6 standard. Ds is VERY upset about it and I don't fucking blame him. He loves art and its hard enough keeping his confidence up as it it. Waiting for call back from deputy head right now.

TOOT - I am just about to e-mail you, yesterday was hectic. I must eat some marmite on toast first.

berolina · 24/10/2008 10:07

Oh Guad, that is shit, what a twonk of a teacher. 'Kinell.

FMF - a week off enjoy.

SB, I think you are being very forbearing. I would inevitably quietly snap and very dignigiedly say something. Living in Germany has made me dreadfully confrontational assertive.

banana, apple, kiwi, pear

berolina · 24/10/2008 10:08

dignifiedly, of course.

CharleeInChains · 24/10/2008 10:15

[Charlee swishes in with a freshly polished halo]

Hi everyone, im a bit tired today i couldn't sleep last night but the plus side is in my time awake i made a super veggie soup in my slow cooker with,

Carrott
Parsnip
Squash
Celeriac
Potato
Onion

With some fresh coriander, homemade veggie stock and a pince of ginger.

It's very nice

I was watching River cottage and got inspired!

Ghouladalupe · 24/10/2008 10:16

I watched that, the food looked lovely last night, particularly the speltotto.

CharleeInChains · 24/10/2008 10:18

O love Rissotto so i am going to try speltoto.

I like the look of a veggie evening, i'm not a vegitarian but all thoses meals looked delicious!

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 24/10/2008 10:18

nice Charlee. need to make some soup for lunch actually.
Will someone give me a kick up the arse please...I have no energy today.

Guad that is disgusting. How dare they! Ds1's work is hardly ever up to Yr6 standard (you know what it is like) but no-one ever says so. I would be so angry if someone said that to him.

OP posts:
CharleeInChains · 24/10/2008 10:20

[Boots FMF swiftly but kindly up the BTM.]

I was all go last night i also made caramalised onion and garlic bread, i sometimes get into these nestly type phases and cook loads and clean everything.

pinkspottywellies · 24/10/2008 10:21

What a twat of a teacher Guad. Specially from a supply teacher who doesn't know them (I assume?) It could have been the best art they'd ever done. I would be furious. Hope you get some joy from the dep head.

Food is very minited in our house. We have been 'using up'. I had a satsuma and half a kiwi this morning. Will have some juice now before friend comes and we have coffee (or hot chocolate) and tiffin!

SB I would have said something like 'oh I thought he'd taken something from the stuff we all share. Terribly sorry'. I think that'a passive agressive isn't it? I think I tend to be passive aggressive if that is the right term! Me and DH both are. Makes for difficult dispute resolution!

Guad, love the name change! Just noticed!

pinkspottywellies · 24/10/2008 10:24

I'm doing early pg nesting atm Charlee. I think I'm subconsciously doing things that I won't be able to do soon when I get all huge and cumbersome! Like cleaning windows and wiping skirting boards. Not that I'm likely to get huge and cumbersome. I'm still only 10st 9 and wearing ordinary size 14 jeans at 23 weeks! And based on last time at least I'm not going to suddenly balloon either!

Never mind the house will be clean!

CharleeInChains · 24/10/2008 10:26

The sad thing is though IM NOT PREGNANT!

I am a real xmas freak though and want the house to be spick and span by then.

OsmosisBOOnana · 24/10/2008 10:42

i have food poisoning.

puking up tea is nasty.

i'm going back to my duvet.

DD is trying to eat coins, poor thing, probably hungry, someone please come and feed her.

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 24/10/2008 11:52

Osba What did you eat? How grim having to look after a small person whn you feel so shit.
