For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Missed so much over last couple of days so will just catch up on new thread.... at new title.

Hope you are feeling less snotty soon fmf.

Mmmm..I thrive on the feel good factor after exercise Bero. It is so exhilerating running around here at this time of year and the views are breathtaking.

Just had a new phone and impatient to load it up with tunes but computer is still wobbly and I lost all the contacts on my phone as well as I didn't realise they hadn't been saved in sim....ah well.

Don't know if we've 'met' wombling but hope RL picks up soon. MN has been a life saver for me, especially this thread.

Daisy, I love the lockman story, it is what we all want to say really.

Long story but social services has found me a mentor for DS, ( re anger management issues) and he is terrific. Really brightened the light at the end of the tunnel.

Im thinking of writing an essay Osba, to stretch my walnut of a brain a bit. Thought about contacting a uni lecturer to set me one.

I could waffle on forever, it is so nice to be back in the yurt .
2 x pears,
apple,
tomato juice,
apple juice.
Can't remeber but there is more..honest.

Lots of exercise!!!

daisy99divine · 23/10/2008 16:34

hello Mou

lovely to see you again

Sorry about DS but glad that things seem to be a pick up

Osba makes me laugh, when she calls me DD, because I get confused that it may be me kicking her in the face/ not going out for Chinese with her !! all in the context really

Heck! I've just done the double posting thing!
must be extra sensitive clicking fingers we have all of a sudden

daisy99divine · 23/10/2008 16:37

Mou - re Sim cards - my puppy chewed my phone when I was 8 months pregnant. Thought I should replace it. Lost all numbers - that's how I learnt the difference between "phone" save and "sim" save..

Anyway, got new phone, spent afternoon trying to find and check numbers - just as well, went into labour and had DS that very night
so watch what happens!
I have been too frightened ever to get another phone, just in case

horrorhouseofhorror · 23/10/2008 16:38

Mmmmm, thanks Daisy, tis good to be back.!!

Did you know George Clooney was in a film in 1988 called Return of the Killer Tomatoes? One of his immortal lines is 'Yo! Zucchini!'

CharleeInChains · 23/10/2008 17:09

Hooray!

Now I find myself on here , do baked beans count as a vegetable?

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 23/10/2008 17:34

I have had salad sarnie, smoothie and pineapple today, and with a vegtastic stir fry tonight, I reckon that's me still an eligible member of the fruity bitches....

I feel less snotty but completely wiped today. I have a week off work though, yay!

LMD yes they do

OP posts:
LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 23/10/2008 17:38

oooo, well i've had a banana, an apple, a tangerine, some cucumber and some baked beans today. Only five to go to join your club.....

what about juice?

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 23/10/2008 17:47

juice counts as one, no matter how many times a day or haow many different flavours you gulp...

We aim for 10, which means we usually hit five! The idea is to build up your intake. If you don't each much at the moment and you suddenly try for 10 portions, you will end up as Captain Fartypants or worse.

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 23/10/2008 18:24

this is about normal for me at the mo - I also had a very large cranberry juice today, so I'm on 6!

And dinner will include at least one veg.

wow.

mind you, I'm pg at the mo and I always crave fruit when I'm pg, so that's probably got something to do with it.

fullmOOOOOWHOOOOOnfiend · 23/10/2008 18:52

congrats on pg! When are you due? We will be lenient about excercise

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 23/10/2008 18:56

I am also pg and have shunned fruit today in favour of sausage rolls, coffee, diet coke, chocolate and tiffin. But I did have about 4 slices of cucumber in my sandwich Welcome to 10/10 LMD.

I'm going to have butternut squash soup for dinner.

Mou I used to work for a project that provided volunteer mentors for young people through ss. Tis a wonderful thing! Glad you've got some support for him. Don't know what the issues are but hope you're all ok.

I did lots of cleaning today so am going to count that as my exercise [shameless pg cheating]

SuperBunny · 23/10/2008 19:16

Hello all

Toast
Cereal
Tea

I'm having ishoos with friend again:

Today at playgroup, she put snacks out. We all bring some and it becomes a free-for-all - all the kids eat everybody's snacks and it's been that way since they were old enough to eat. Her DS was being v aggressive with mine in the other room, so I went in there to deal with it and when I came back, the boy I was minding had taken 1 of my friend's sandwiches (well a 1/4 of one since they were chopped up v small) and she spent the rest of the morning saying to her 2 kids, "Well, now we will have to go and buy you lunch since everybody else has eaten yours" I didn't say anything at the time but she went on and on about it. Several other things too, and she made my other friend cry, so am feeling a bit cross.

Sorry, just needed to rant a bit.

SuperBunny · 23/10/2008 19:18

That was a bit me, me, me, sorry

Hope everyone is ok. Nice to see people posting again. Hope RL crises settle down soon.

BBBee · 23/10/2008 19:21

hello my beauties!

PINK - DIET COKE god - if franny were here!

I have been crappola for a change.

I have invented a grapefruit margarita though from a real grapefruit - it is on my facebook page - it is the highlight of my week.

Plenty of fruity love bestowed to all

XX

BBBee · 23/10/2008 19:22

is my little dancing same person as dancing with boots on etc.?

S1ur · 23/10/2008 19:34

Hello all,

Bbbee grapefruit marghrita sounds interesting -(don't think you are my fb friend, although I find it all very confusing with rl/mn names )

Superbunny, that sounds crap! She sounds like a pita tbh. and how horrid that she made your other friend cry

-I have been so slack over last couple of days that I missed Boco's drving incident (will go search if I get chance)

Oh and I have a cough/tight chest thing, annoying.

not much in the way of f&v again, gawd I think I should be banned from the yurt really. I'm a bit rubbish at all this. I have had lots of salad and a couple of plums and some grapes.

Proportionately of my entire intake F&V feature very heavily, just y'know doesn't add up to many portions...

Anywaaaaay, off to find out who else has left in last 12 hours.

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 23/10/2008 20:27

Hello again! No, I'm not dancing with boots on or anything like that - I'm normally just LittleMyDancing but this is my Hallowe'en name. Scary, ain't it (not).

Thank you for kind welcome, all! Baby is due in late March, but I'm on the due in April 09 thread because originally due date was 1 April.

Can I just stick my hand up and say I did my exercise today too - walked home from nursery (20 minutes) pushing DS in buggy up very steep hill - does that count? And went swimming last night. This makes me sound very holier than thou - normally I'm a slob who eats crapola.

For example, we have just ordered pizza for dinner......it has got sweetcorn on it though. Honest.

SuperBunny, your friend sounds mean. I hate it when people talk to children as a way of having a dig at someone else, it makes me really cross. Leave the children out of it, if you've got something to say then say it!

What a lot of lovely new people to get to know, hooray!
