For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

oh poor osba - I've never had food poisoning {touch wood) but I know it can be horrid.

lol lol lol at superbunny touching an apple in a desperate attempt to gain F&v points, I genuinely laughed aloud

bero - so pleased CM thing is sorted

er to whoever has nasty friend at playgroup who witterd on about sandwich - she is NOT your friend, she's a cow.

welcome to LMD, I'm a newbie as well and I'm crap at 10/10 but I aim to improve after baby.

Pink&blue think I might be nesting too. House is immaculate (rare for me!) and I've filled the freezer with home cooked veggie lasagne/chili/fish pie (not veggie fish pie obv) and stuff although I do wonder if I'm sort of pretending to nest to fool baby into thinking its time to come out - as I'm 39+1 now

satsuma
clementine
juice
raisins
apple
banana
potato (shortly)
baked beans (shortly)

ooooooh haven't I done well?! Exercise?

OsmosisBOOnana · 24/10/2008 12:55

Ah. It is passing. Phew. That was horrific.

I can't believe that woman making such a fuss about a sandwich. Silly cow.

If it makes DD feel any better, when I was in the 3rd year (yr 9?) I did a picture of a lady in a beautiful dress with a parasol. I think the art teacher described it as 'what the cat threw up'. In fairness, it did look more like sick than a dress but even so... Needless to say I didn't do art for GCSE.

I have discovered one of the women on my course is not 40 as I though. She is a year younger than me. Life must be hard in the outer hebrides.

I have booked this place for my 30th

hopefully I have 10 friends to fill it!

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 12:58

CIC and Pink&Blue if you ever feel your houses are clean and your freezers are full you are welcome to come to mine

MamaG I would love you over too, but perhaps you shouldn't travel too far

SB, yeah, forget the moral highground, friends are people who are nice to you and supportive (like 10/10 fruity bitches )

OsBa, poor you, shall I come and stroke your forehead and feed your DD (not me DD, I am too well fed already!)

I'm off to work, will try and pack in a bit of lettuce and tomato into a bacon sandwich!

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 13:00

Ha ha, my last art report said "Daisy has no ability and does not try"

with great aplomb my mum said "well, Daisy, that says more about the teacher than you!"

sometimes mums are fab

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 24/10/2008 13:00

oooo MamaG do potatoes count? I assumed they were bad things!

CharleeInChains · 24/10/2008 13:00

My hose is clean but very untidy i am doing small amounts at a time, the jobs i have wanted to do for a few months days but haven't been bothered able to do.

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 13:01

Osba birthday farmhouse looks FAB - when are you going?

And did you say fill it with 10 friends or fill it with 10/10ers ??

RIGHT, really am off to work

hammouhouseofhorror · 24/10/2008 13:01

Sorry you are not well Osba (I cry when I am sick). Get well vibes.

Guad at teacher for you. It is so hard to get children to be confident about art, and that is what teachers are for STUPID MAN!
Sorry for you too SB and a bad example to Dc's.

Welcome LMD, and congrats on pregnancy, it is great on this thread.

Am doing great on exercise but a friend called me a stick insect (in front of other people), and then another had a go about my eating/exercise. I am 10 1/2 stone and 5ft 8 1/2 inches tall which I thought was OK. I am skinnier on top than bottom but always have been. I don't exercise to lose weight, I do it a/ because I really enjoy it and b/ because it helps with stress and depression. Food I have a healthy diet with plenty of treats, now I don't feel as confident, and I know H doesn't like it. That weight is ok isn't it? I'm size 10/12.

Mamag, carry a piece of newborn clothing with you...I swear it started my DD's labour.

Apple,
pear,
juice
blackcurrant/apple pie
veg laden casserole for tea.
tomato,
lettuce.

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 13:02

It's amazing isn't it, you can spend hours cleaning one corner until it is perfect and then magically you can't see the piles of washing/ toys/ books/ crap etc in the other 3 corners of the room

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 13:04

Mou, sounds like you need to introduce your "sticke insect" friend to SB's "obsessed sandwich" friend - they'd get on like a house on fire and you two would be left in peace

CharleeInChains · 24/10/2008 13:04

Well my plan is to move everything off my kitchen sides and clean it but im being lazy struggling to find the energy.

I live with a serial horder (dp) who has a voluminous amount of guff usefull items in the house and insists on using my chopping board to make toast on and leaves it all crumby.

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 24/10/2008 13:06

hammhouseof horror - when I'm not pregnant I'm 5 foot 7 inches and about 10 stone, sounds about right to me! I carry a little extra round the middle and the bottom, but have skinny arms and legs, sounds very like you.

With me it's mostly toning rather than weight loss that's the problem (of course right now there's quite a lot of wobble round the middle, but it's all baby, honest. no pies at all, really. )

Osba sorry to hear about food poisoning, what did you eat? Flat coke worked wonders for me when I had gastroenteritis, it was all I could keep down.

I'm not doing well yet today - one glass of juice, pasta with homemade tomato sauce for lunch, do the onions in it count as a vegetable or is the sauce itself just one point? Will go and get some fruit in a minute, promise. As soon as I stop MNetting

OsmosisBOOnana · 24/10/2008 13:10

I cry when I'm sick too Mou! And shiver and generally look a fright.

We're going in March Daisy, and..... M&D are having DD for the whole 4 days!!!!!!!!!! I will be able to be hungover in peace!

fullmoonfiendbloodcurdlinghowl · 24/10/2008 13:10

Osba, well if you need extra friends to bump up numbers... Looks lovely, when is your birthday?

hammouhouseofhorror · 24/10/2008 13:24

fmf...where do people get the nerve?

I am going to start photographing my work (paintings) as I really want to set up a website/weblog next year but don't know where to start. Lots of
Mnetting research coming up.

Come back soon Daisy...

Am going to make a spiced apple cake, with Mum and Dads fallens.

fullmoonfiendbloodcurdlinghowl · 24/10/2008 13:26

Yes, I'd never start a convo with 'ay up fatso, looks like you ate the Restaurant..''

I am 5ft 6 and 8st - 8.5 ish. I have very broad shoulders and hips. I'm hardly skeletal.

OsmosisBOOnana · 24/10/2008 13:38

It is annoying people talking about your weight to you.

I got really ill when I was in Thailand and went down to 7.5 stone, which is pretty skeletal, I'm 5'7", and when I came back people kept saying 'you are really very thin you know, it's not healthy'.

No shit! I haven't eaten for 3 weeks! Care to help feed me up??

hammouhouseofhorror · 24/10/2008 14:43

Yeah. I got the "are you pregnant?" questions, whilst stroking my IBS swollen belly before I lost weight.

Anyway you ladies have made me smile, so soddit, I'll run an extra few miles tonight.

MamaG · 24/10/2008 14:57

mou it sounds like downright jealousy, I have to be honest.

No idea if potatoes count, just thought I'd sneak it onto the list as it grows in the ground

I will carry a small newborn hat in my coat pocket, hopefully will send some birth vibes to baby!

Osba I too cry when I'm sick - and I burst all the blood vessels in my eyelids so I have red speckly eyes (well, maybe not all the blood vessels, but some of them). Also, when I cry I go really puffy and blotchy, I don't cry prettily at all! I look lovely when I've vomited, good job I haven't had morning sickness in this pg eh?

fullmoonfiendbloodcurdlinghowl · 24/10/2008 15:13

I'm sorry mamag, potatoes don't count.
Please don't eat hit me....I know what you heavily pg ladies are like, you will eat hit any old poor fiend passing...

MamaG · 24/10/2008 15:14

arse

was worth a go though

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 15:23

well, I'm at work so too busy to be here, obviously

but I managed brocolli and an apple for lunch, and thought of all you lovely veggers!

While nobody has every told me they thought I was too thin I too would consider it the HEIGHT of rudeness if they did!

I am 5'9 (we are a tall lot of veggers aren't we) and weigh rather more than you lot

Osba, I think I might just cope with your irritating youngness by coming too {grin] but you probably don't want to swap 4 days without DD for 4 days with "other" DD

MamaG · 24/10/2008 15:24
OsmosisBOOnana · 24/10/2008 15:47

Now DD, you haven't been here very long but the others are familiar with DH's theory.

He is 38. he thinks you should average out person 1 and person 2's ages in a relationship to get a more accurate reflection of your 'real' age... So, I am actually about 34.

Is that a bit less irritating? [although should be cackle given the impending halloween nonsense] at toothless old hags cluttering up the yurt.

FMV - I bet you celebrate Samhain don't you? I am going to a Samhain party in a couple of weeks. We have to bring something from last year to burn, and come dressed as what we want to be next year. I predict drunkeness

daisy99divine · 24/10/2008 15:47

Ah, yes, but 5'3" of fruity loveliness, stroking a small baby's hat
