For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm going to start with something sensible AND on topic
I've eaten strawberries, grapes and melon for a snack
and big salad for dinner: spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, mozzarella, eggs, veg sausages, beetroot
was nice but was still hungry and had to eat cheese sandwich

I haven't mentioned fruit and vegetables for ages.
Have had an apple, carrots, broccoli and orange juice. That's 4. My excuse is that although I don't feel ill, I have loads of pain which means i'm not at all hungry. Will do better tomorrow.

I like the title.

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 22:16

I have had banana, strawberrries, lentil soup; bean enchilads with mahoosive salad of avacado, home-grown lettuce and mizuna, olives, sweetcorn, tomato, cucmber and peppers.
I rock.
And even though I am not witty enough for MP, I do good thread titles.....

FrannyandZucchini · 06/06/2008 22:18

we have mizuna growing FMF, what is it like?

Boco I am v sorry about pain
I wish your inlaws had respected you needed some rest
it really made me cross

Mizuna is ace - raw is very slightly spinachy/rockety.

You can steam it very lightly too.

In fact, given my cunting rocket has gone straight from baby leaf to seed, I am eschewing rocket for ever more and embracing wondrous mizuna instead.

FrannyandZucchini · 06/06/2008 22:23

oh scrum and good
how did you get yours going? ours said grow inside to start with and not till kind of nowish. So ours are about 6 mm tall

you have reminded me what the shoots in the corner by the compost heap were though
rocket!

nighty night, I have new Joanne Harris to curl up with and I meant to go hours ago but got sucked in by non bitchy music lovers...

womblingalong · 06/06/2008 22:29

FMF,

Check bookswap thread, have you got the millions of books I sent late?

Guadalupe · 06/06/2008 22:58

have just watched The Motorcycle Diaries with ds1. He really enjoyed it. I think we ought to do some learning tomorrow. Questions questions. Mummy, what's a communist, what's leprosy, what does a revolutionary do, and so on. Just look at the scenery my son, and Gabriel whotsit. He is lovely don't you think?

I have had cake with strawberry and cream, pizza with broccoli and watercress and rhubarb crumple. Low on the portion stakes but big on taste.

Night veggers.

IdrisTheDragon · 07/06/2008 00:16

UnderRated · 07/06/2008 05:40

Welcome Weegie

stuffedaubergine · 07/06/2008 08:39

hello weegie morning all
UR what is am worried for you!

yes that much spinach would feel like 100, it always does with me, sometimes handfuls of raw spinach are my fallback for when i'm not cooking and they are very very very boring

i'm going shopping for f and v. have bought lots this week but the children are eating it all so at least they're going in somewhere

cherries are v good at the moment -- are they somehow bad for you and chemically as they really are fab

TooTerriblyTired · 07/06/2008 08:56

Welcome Weegie

There were a few raisins in my cereal.
I have just dabbed fresh parsley infusion around my eyes. It feels wonderful.

pinkspottywellies · 07/06/2008 08:57

Welcome Weegie! (that's how my dd pronounces veggies at the minute )

I've had raisins so far. Will go and get some juice now. Also extra bonus points for nuts and seeds.

pinkspottywellies · 07/06/2008 08:57

Morning TooT!

Guadalupe · 07/06/2008 09:22

Morning all and hellp weegie

stuffit - did youu say you took a flask of tea to the nightclub? Really? That would have been hilarious if they'd opened it on the door, they'd never belive it was just tea.

Mango, almost a whole one, halleluja, with strawberries, kiwis and yoghurt.

TooTerriblyTired · 07/06/2008 09:43

I am a bit sneezy and pathetic today and the children have coughs. So we are not swimming as they had hoped.

Ds2 has acquired an injury under his other eye It could have been much worse. Dd1 tickled him and he sort of leapt which brought him to the corner of the sideboard.

Guadalupe · 07/06/2008 09:46

not having much luck with his eyes is he!

Ds1 is completely covered in bruises atm, he bumps into everything.

TooTerriblyTired · 07/06/2008 09:48

Who knows how to do that pepper charring thing under the grill? Is it worth it?
