For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes, it seems to be a bruisy time of year. Ds1 and ds2 have so many on their legs, and can never remember where they came from.

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 09:53

Stuffit I LOVE you going out and even taking your cardigan off
the flask of tea is inspired, if I am feeling really daring I have a cup of tea only stimulant I have had for years
oh except chai of course which sent me marvellously loopy and loved up

TooT thank god it wasn't the same eye, or worse than it is!

welcome Weegie, please make yourself at home; you'll notice we talk about a mixture of veggies and other crap - just use it to remind yourself what you are aiming for and ask for support if you need it

morning all veggers

have had a lie in
ds had new nightlights last night (we are trying something new so he can have his door shut when no 2 arrives and hopefully not get woken up so much) so of course we had several calls in the night "it's a bit dark daddyyyyyyy"
we all seem in one piece now however

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 09:53

TooT I know how to take the skins off

OP posts:
TooTerriblyTired · 07/06/2008 10:06

Yes...?

TooTerriblyTired · 07/06/2008 10:07

There is a good chance that ds will sleep through baby noises in the night. I think the subconscious assesses the situation.

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 10:10

oh was that what you wanted? I wasn;t sure
either get tongs and hold them in a gas flame, and turn around and around until absolutely black all over

or cut into halves / pieces that can be squashed flattish on grill pan and grill them, skin side up until absolutely black ditto

then for each method, put in plastic bag and seal
wait about 10 mins
then take out and slip off skins
it is still a bit fiddly but does work
you can make lovely soup with them then, otherwise I always leave the skins on, for grilled / roasted peppers - just grill them in slices if you just want to eat them with other veggies

OP posts:
FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 10:11

yes he may sleep through it
what I don't think he will sleep through is

a) noises at bedtime will stop him dropping off and make bedtime tedious
b) early morning crying will wake him and the baby will get back to sleep and he won't

I do so love to start the day at 5 am

OP posts:
TooTerriblyTired · 07/06/2008 10:18

Oh. Ah. We don't have gas. There is no gas in the village. Hmm. Thanks anyway

Perhaps I have just been incredibly lucky with mine sleeping through noise then.
Dd2 is the earliest riser - her internal clock is set at 6.20 atm

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 10:26

under the grill, then? have you a grill?

you could also do it over an open fire?

OP posts:
fullmoonfiend · 07/06/2008 10:32

you'd be amazed what they can sleep through (I giveyou festivals...)

We have a tiny house where if someone sneezes downstairs you can her it upstairs and ds1 (who has never been the best sleeper) just tuned out baby noises from ds2....

ALovelyPear · 07/06/2008 10:32

Morning

Stuffit I LOVE you taking tea to the nightclub! That is just fantastic. I have ordered a pot of tea in a pub on a night out once

TooT poor ds2

Welcome Weegie!

fullmoonfiend · 07/06/2008 10:33

Having said that, if I wake up early (often ) ds1 will hear me fill up the kettle and Be Awake and come an be with me. Which is not always what I want at 5.30am...

Guadalupe · 07/06/2008 10:56

franny - do you have the jumbo suffolk cube or the smaller one?

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 11:03

erm not sure
will check

OP posts:
FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 11:06

the jumbo

are you teetering?

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 07/06/2008 11:07

just looking at the catalogue they sent. I was hoping you had the smaller one, price wise. I wonder if it is as good.

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 11:08

it looks good
but it doesn't have so many bits, does it? the twiddly bits are v important IMO

OP posts:
Boco · 07/06/2008 11:08

Hello. Franny not doing vegger boycotting at all, just not eaten much fruit and veg.

I did just have some raisins though.

Today I have to get all the stuff for dds birthday sorted, and do baking, and make village fete style games and things, and also somehow go out at 6.30 for the evening. And would quite like to go and have some more sleep. Am writing lists.

Guadalupe · 07/06/2008 11:09

have you got a picture there of both?

The brochure is confusing, there's not an obvious comparison. Will look at the website again..

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 11:11

I hope it is all lovely Boco
and that you feel better and things don't hurt too much

strawberries, grapes, raisins and a big banana
I am saying 4.5

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 07/06/2008 11:11

oh, yes, did you get the directions, Boco? They were a bit confusing.

Hmm, I think the large one is too much money, especially if it's new plus VAT.

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 11:12

the website has a picture of each but I had to look very carefully to see which our one was

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 07/06/2008 11:13

Yes, just looking at that now. I think the large one might be too large as well, we have narrow galley style walkways between our furniture.

FrannyandZucchini · 07/06/2008 11:15

well look at the dimensions, there is not a huge difference
and you still get a fair amount of bits and bobs
I think the small one looks good

OP posts:
Boco · 07/06/2008 11:16

I did, thanks Guadalupe.
