Is there a strange virus going around?

This is a really odd one!
started on Friday with a very sudden sore throat. Low grade fever overnight, woke to awful muscle pains, neck ache and a general feeling of low level unwell.
Saturday felt off with a running nose and aches and pains. Kept feeling warm and waves of nausea. Overnight into Sunday stomach pains started with diarrhoea and nausea, snotty nose, shivery, headache.
Symptoms are coming and going, feel a bit better one minute then headachey and off the next. Every time I eat I get stomach cramps and loose stool. Not positive for Covid (old tests tho).

It’s the stomach issues that are unusual, it’s like a low level flu bug but with a bad stomach too.

Anyone else have this?

Yep, me too
Saturday night suddenly shivering and had a temp, then poured with sweat (I mean running off me), same on Sunday night
No throat/nose/cold symptoms but had a headache and now I've got stomach cramps and diarrhoea

Thommasina · 22/10/2024 20:53

I had a very sudden sore throat. Then fever. Now the sore throat has gone but I have a cough and sore achey muscles.

I had a very strong positive on the covid test I took, on the third day

WonderingWanda · 22/10/2024 20:57

That doesn't sound loke a strange virus at all. You have basically described covid which is always going around now.

Edited

Except I've also done 3 tests and all negative
If it is Covid I need it to show up as I can have antivirals Sad
Brand new tests as well

Whoknowswhatanymore · 22/10/2024 21:03

I have had similar for the last 5 weeks, turned into sinusitis and ear infection and threw up a couple of times too. Nausea was shocking. Just starting to get better now after antibiotics, ear drops, nasal spray and lots of pain killers. Never felt so ill. All Covid tests totally negative. GP adamant I’ve had flu and I believe that has been the case too. Whatever it is, I never want it again! Get well soon!

Lil89 · 22/10/2024 21:03

Yes I had the same, negative on old tests. Bought new tests and confirmed positive as covid. Lasted 5 days 🦠😩

Mama2many73 · 23/10/2024 00:07

At our local school several staff have had these symptoms and a few days in 3-5 it suddenly shows up as covid.
I'd do another test in a couple of days if you still feel ill

RareitySparkles · 23/10/2024 00:09

Test after day 5. I bet its covid

NobodyGivesADamn · 23/10/2024 00:10

Covid - Has to be new tests

HarrietofFire · 23/10/2024 00:20

I've had this for three weeks now. Partner was hospitalised with similar and tested positive for Type A Influenza

MoonWoman69 · 23/10/2024 00:27

I'm into my second week of all this. There are apparently 3 different strains of the cold virus going round. I think I have all 3.
Started with a cold, then sneezing constantly, headache, hot and cold at the same time. Exhausted. Walking feels like I'm wading through treacle. Stomach is off all the time. Very little appetite. A week in, I had a day where I had a hideous sore throat. Then that went.
I've done in 3 boxes of mansize tissues, God knows how many loo rolls, gallons of home made honey and lemon and I've slept more than a hibernating bear!!!
Wishing you all a speedy recovery 🤧

buffyfaithspike · 23/10/2024 00:36

Brand new out the box test
It felt like flu at first and now feels like a stomach bug

Same and I've never tested positive for covid. My ears were blocked and was a bit tired but sleep seemed to do the trick. There is definitely something going around and chemist was saying the saying. I've genuinely not been unwell since 2017 when I had a bad cold and so I was very surprised when this current thing has come about! I've been gargling salt water which helps me anyway

Celticgold · 23/10/2024 01:00

I had Covid and all those symptoms

LilacWriter · 23/10/2024 01:00

Everyone at work seems to have it!

mathanxiety · 23/10/2024 01:07

I had something similar, with a sinus headache from hell and a fever, with chills, that tylenol wouldn't touch. It lasted a good five days and then another five days of nose blowing. I took two newly bought covid tests because it felt like something serious. Both were negative. Maybe some kind of flu?

Having the worst time of it. I was like this and it turned into tonsillitis, which I was admitted to hospital with. Iv fluids, steroids, morphine and the pain was still horrific.
This all started the 16th and I'm still ill. Also ended up with a nasty sinus infection. I'm on two different types of antibiotics and I'm still struggling.
My dd has been up all night with a sore throat and stomach ache. I'm done in 😭

urghhh47 · 23/10/2024 06:28

Yep we've virtually all had it - 3 yr old the worst and it has left her with a bad cough and fatigue. The 2 that didn't get it had very bad COVID this time last year...

urghhh47 · 23/10/2024 06:29

@TheDeepLemonHelper my instinct was that it's COVID.

Thommasina · 23/10/2024 06:30

I have covid (tested) and have had similar but no tummy upset. The cough is awful.

freddyfluffball · 23/10/2024 07:12

Two of us have had it last week and wider family have covid as they've tested. Loads of kids off school with it now too.

thunderbox · 23/10/2024 08:26

Influenza A has pretty much the same symptoms as covid - I believe you can buy tests from the pharmacy.

buffyfaithspike · 23/10/2024 08:29

I've rung for a phone appointment this morning so will come back with what the GP says
Still sweating, thirsty and diarrhoea

spicedonion · 23/10/2024 08:31

I was told at the hospital I had flu, tested negative for covid. Someone near me tested positive for covid though. Strep throat is also going about.
