Is there a strange virus going around?

This is a really odd one!
started on Friday with a very sudden sore throat. Low grade fever overnight, woke to awful muscle pains, neck ache and a general feeling of low level unwell.
Saturday felt off with a running nose and aches and pains. Kept feeling warm and waves of nausea. Overnight into Sunday stomach pains started with diarrhoea and nausea, snotty nose, shivery, headache.
Symptoms are coming and going, feel a bit better one minute then headachey and off the next. Every time I eat I get stomach cramps and loose stool. Not positive for Covid (old tests tho).

It’s the stomach issues that are unusual, it’s like a low level flu bug but with a bad stomach too.

Anyone else have this?

I finally recovered from the agonising stomach bug (November) which seamlessly became the flu from hell (and made me wish I was dead) so that I felt ok for about a week. That included Christmas Day, which was lucky. But for most of this last week I've wondered if the flu was returning for round 2. Similar symptoms, but I've now concluded it's either a nasty head cold or covid (no tests). So fed up! Spending lots of time in bed again and it's just as well I had no plans to celebrate new year. In fact, I lay there last night while all the bombs fireworks went off thinking "What is there to celebrate?!"

Glad to hear others are feeling much better though, that flu/hideous virus was something else.

Errrmm I have no idea! One min I’m better and the next I’m floored again. Just been to see my mum is Spain for 5 days and loved it. Got home last night and woken up racked with body aches again… must need to live in Spain, clearly it agrees with me!

happy new year though everyone and so glad you are all feeling better to some degree x

Well again short lived success. Those body aches were passing so think that was due to a busy few days but last night I started to get a sore throat, then by midnight I was practically crying in pain at the body aches, my head is throbbing so much I can hear the blood whooshing, I have snot and the sweat and stomach issues to boot!
was hoping 2025 might be a better year… clearly not 😭

Surfacing into the world and hearing so many people who had this, badly.

It will get better and it will go away, but it really is bloody fucking awful. Hope everyone feels better very soon.

I'm currently going through the same thing, pretty much. It started with irritable sinuses, a blocked and ticklish nose, then a cough, then a fever and fatigue. My appetite isn't too great though I am managing to eat some things. DH has been great at taking care of the kids. I'm managing to do some things, such as run errands for an hour or so and then feeling tired and aching. I always feel better when I wake up and then I start to feel worse as the day goes along. It's been around 6 days for me and I am seeing very gradual signs of improvement (new year's day, I could not get out of bed at all).

It's probably a common winter bug that goes around. I've had similar experiences in years gone by. I had a bottle of wine yesterday though and felt miraculously better for a couple of hours, so it could be a lack of alcohol!😜I hope you feel better soon, the same to all reading this and their loved ones.

Covid positive this evening so it’s just another lousy virus! Man down 🤣

How’s everyone feeling? I had a rubbish sleep, woke up early hours feeling nauseous, kept going hot and cold all night, so tired today, still feel nauseous and have got bad back/shoulder pain. I don’t know what I’ve caught? And if the shoulder pain is linked or because I kept tossing and turning.

Sorry that you're feeling under the weather. I felt better within about 9 days but it can be different for everyone. If you can, try ginger tea to help with the nausea, it's a godsend. Aching is a symptom of having a cold/flu virus. A hot bath can help to soothe it and also graphic warning the steam from the bath water can help to unblock your nose. Rest and relax. Don't feel guilty for resting.
