Is there a strange virus going around?

This is a really odd one!
started on Friday with a very sudden sore throat. Low grade fever overnight, woke to awful muscle pains, neck ache and a general feeling of low level unwell.
Saturday felt off with a running nose and aches and pains. Kept feeling warm and waves of nausea. Overnight into Sunday stomach pains started with diarrhoea and nausea, snotty nose, shivery, headache.
Symptoms are coming and going, feel a bit better one minute then headachey and off the next. Every time I eat I get stomach cramps and loose stool. Not positive for Covid (old tests tho).

It’s the stomach issues that are unusual, it’s like a low level flu bug but with a bad stomach too.

Anyone else have this?

Yes myself and ds12. Vomiting all night. Stomach is absolutely cut! Sitting outside his door right now planning hospital trip if he doesn’t stop his sporadic vomiting within the next few hours

gamerchick · 23/10/2024 08:34

The tests aren't picking one of the strains up I think. Or they need a lot of virus on the swab.

But there are some weird lurgies going about. Personally I don't think lockdowns did our immune systems any favours.

Why? Just stop in bed.

stayathomer · 23/10/2024 08:37

Because he’s vomited 22 times today

RamonaRamirez · 23/10/2024 08:39

My dad has this too, it is going around

RainySunnyWhatevery · 23/10/2024 08:42

that will be covid.

Mamansparkles · 23/10/2024 08:45

Covid tests only pick up about a third of cases! Negative tests don't mean it isn't covid.

Badburyrings · 23/10/2024 08:51

Ive had this, just coming out the other side. Felt like flu but with a bad stomach. Was pretty horrendous.

Pumpkinsandchutney · 23/10/2024 09:01

Covid, but not testing positive. In bed for a couple of days. Plenty of fluids, rest and paracetamol for fever and it will pass.

Goatblu · 23/10/2024 09:32

Me too. I had my flu vaccine a couple of weeks ago and was due to have my COVID one later this week but I've rearranged it as I don't want to feel any more crap than I already do. Plus the thought of getting out of bed, showered and dressed and travelled to the vaccination centre is too much.

I had really bad diarrhea on Friday, before these current symptoms started yesterday but I've woken up feeling sick this morning and just generally crap.

buffyfaithspike · 23/10/2024 09:38

Doctor said probably flu to me just now and that it's going around
They want me to have bloods but I said I'm not going out with flu to infect people and I can't leave the bathroom so.. we've agreed Friday if no better

Cloud44 · 23/10/2024 10:14

I’ve just posted a similar post, I didn’t realise there was this one! I’m feeling the same, finding the upset stomach with the cold symptoms strange. Is everyone managing to work through it?

boymama82 · 23/10/2024 14:02

Yes! Me, my husband and 3 and 4 year old boys have had it and keep bouncing it back to each other. Terrible diarrhoea along with headaches and cold symptoms, it's awful

Tbskejue · 23/10/2024 14:08

This is me! I don’t know what to do as I’m ok one minute then just not.

Cloud44 · 23/10/2024 14:25

Are you both still going into work @boymama82 @Tbskejue ?

NobodyGivesADamn · 23/10/2024 15:39

Hopefully noone is going into work with this bug, whatever it is

Getagoodfeeling · 23/10/2024 17:02

Im Working from home, 3 in my team are down with it. Whatever it is seems very contagious. It’s a bit of a slow burn too. Started Friday. You feel that you’re getting better then a few hours later rough again

The doctor told me mine was likely flu. Headache, swollen tonsils, cough, sinusitis, shortness of breath, temperature, awful fatigue. Absolutely fed up. Also had 3 negative covid tests and they were a new batch.

Tbskejue · 23/10/2024 18:59

@Cloud44 i had to leave early Monday and worked from home Tuesday and back in today. Suspect I should just take time off to rest though

Goatblu · 23/10/2024 19:34

I don't know about going into work, I've barely left my bed today!!

I've already had my flu jag but I've ordered some covid tests. I haven't felt this ill in ages.

MandyMouse23 · 23/10/2024 19:38

Same, I've had to stay off work. I couldn't physically do my job like this.

Moier · 23/10/2024 19:46

My neighbour ( A nurse). Says covid covid tests have an expiry and won't work on the new XEC variant.
I did a test and was negative.. she brought me one same night and was positive.
The symptoms were horrific.
Same as first time around when l got it.. before vaccines.
Had it 5 times now.
2 ..3 and 4 weren't too bad.

Lovetoread123 · 23/10/2024 19:56

After two days of feeling shattered, I developed a sore throat on Friday morning, which became so sore I couldn’t sleep that night. By Saturday eve the sore throat had almost gone but I got a croaky voice and a light cough. Tested for Covid using a new Superdrug test. It was negative. Continued to feel rubbish until Tuesday and today have felt tired but better. I had the Covid vaccine about 10 days ago and had a very sore arm afterwards so assume I responded well to the vaccine. All quite odd as I almost never get ill.

shewolfmum · 23/10/2024 22:36

Seems common to affect the ears too, we have both been deaf in one early for 6 weeks... clearing slowly. Bloody awful just like the first time.

Princessfluffy · 23/10/2024 22:50

Sounds like Covid, I've just had it and my first symptoms were gastrointestinal
I used new tests.
