Presuming theyre going to win the election, what manifesto promises are you hopeful about?

For me it's going to be their promise to fast track rape trials, providing proper support to rape victims and targeted support within the police for victims of domestic violence.

Let's hope they make it happen.

I’m hopeful about that too. I’m also hopeful about their economic strategy, raising money to improve public services through growth. I wish they were lifting the two child benefit cap, though, it would have a huge impact on child poverty.

My hope is more simple- that things will not get worse.

That education might become a priority again and that, in time, funding might improve and the bullshit curriculum that Gove wrote on the back of a fag packet might be rectified.

Just waking up on Friday to not have a Tory government any more
The rest will hopefully come

Yes, it will feel like a boil’s been lanced.

Having grownups governing us rather than petulant man-babies

LostAllMySocks · 02/07/2024 22:12

The promise to have ofsted do annual checks for offrolling in secondary schools.

Can't come soon enough.

Also to just get rid of the tories and have actual rational humans in charge. Our teens deserve to see what actual statesmanlike behaviour looks like.

This.

Knowing there will still be an NHS in 5years time.
Hopefully somewhat improved by then as well.

Replacing the despair that has depressed me since 2019 with some hope. Just a little bit of hope will be good.

MrsSkylerWhite · 02/07/2024 22:21

Stability. The chaos we’ve all tolerated these past few years needs to stop.

I've been depressed since 2010! 2016 put the icing on the cake of disappointment for me and I can't believe they will actually go until we get the results on Friday!

14 years of austerity cuts - maybe they'll start investing in public services so people with disabilities don't have to get trapped at home without access to an electric wheelchair wearing a nappy that only gets changed once a day

Champagnesocialismo · 02/07/2024 22:30

I hope it’s going to be boring and competent. The last eight years has just been a very tiring, very loud and stupid time. They say Keir is dull. I look forward to being bored rigid by his studiously competent public sector management and economic growth.

It reminds me of that marvellous quote about marriage the “deep, deep peace of the double bed after the hurly-burly of the chaise longue”.

That'd doubtful

SassyBalonz · 02/07/2024 22:38

Labour will be far worse

Blackcats7 · 02/07/2024 22:39

I look forward to having a government which is not incompetent, cruel and completely lacking integrity. I look forward to no longer feeling we are an international joke. I look forward to seeing an end to the constant polarising divisive rhetoric stirring up hatred in order to divert attention from the government’s own failings.
Oh and I especially look forward to seeing these awful individuals who have wrecked our country for their own gain finally get their marching orders.

Houseplanter · 02/07/2024 22:39

Starmer failing

peanutbuttertoasty · 02/07/2024 22:39

The next election

Hugsbunny · 02/07/2024 22:40

The exit of those who are perpetually shamed including my local MP who is high profile and a dick (compared to his predecessor). But also am fairly sure we will have a sterling crisis which will be good for me financially.

It's a backwards move for women's rights though and I hope the Labour party splinters when I heir policies are understood by the public.

Angela rayner? Statesmanlike? 😂😂😂🤣

Shortassneedstopowerdress · 02/07/2024 22:42

I’m looking forward to things calming down. The nasty comments from all sides have been really awful during this election.

Champagnesocialismo · 02/07/2024 22:43

Actually I do think we might start to be taken more seriously as a country. There are great things about the UK and good people; I hope that starts to be rebuilt. Watching varying Tory PMs getting snubbed or isolated has been pretty dire.
