Presuming theyre going to win the election, what manifesto promises are you hopeful about?

For me it's going to be their promise to fast track rape trials, providing proper support to rape victims and targeted support within the police for victims of domestic violence.

Let's hope they make it happen.

My hope is more simple- that things will not get worse.

Is that the D:Ream b-side?

I hope it’s going to be boring and competent. The last eight years has just been a very tiring, very loud and stupid time. They say Keir is dull. I look forward to being bored rigid by his studiously competent public sector management and economic growth.

Oh yes to this. I can't wait for politics to be very boring.

Less embarrassment about our nation, we’ve looked utterly stupid for years and it’s wearing. I’m not a typical patriot but I did have pride, that’s all gone now. Hoping we can get on a more even keel and not look frankly so ridiculous.

Bilbonne · 02/07/2024 22:59

Bringing the green targets forward to 2030 again, it shouldn't have been put to 2035

I look forward to having a government which is not incompetent, cruel and completely lacking integrity. I look forward to no longer feeling we are an international joke. I look forward to seeing an end to the constant polarising divisive rhetoric stirring up hatred in order to divert attention from the government’s own failings.
Oh and I especially look forward to seeing these awful individuals who have wrecked our country for their own gain finally get their marching orders.

Couldn't agree more. Thank you, your comment made me smile and has given me a feeling of optimism.

Labour will be far worse

Mate. You’re just embarrassing yourself now.

Arconialiving · 02/07/2024 23:45

I'm very worried about women's rights, so I hope you're all correct that things will be better and our rights won't be completely obliterated over time.

The land of milk and honey, rivers of gold, money trees.

Yes, it will feel like a boil’s been lanced.

Perfect description.

Like the supperating poison in the country has gone.

Impossible.

Frazzledteacher · 02/07/2024 23:55

Investment in public services hopefully. And someone competent in government who don't break their own rules etc

Moonshiners · 02/07/2024 23:56

I cannot wait for the chaos to stop
The endless cycle of scandals (there will be some but much less regularly).
For public services to not be asset stripped.
For rape cases to be heard.
For social housing to be built.

Champagnesocialismo · 02/07/2024 23:57

BIossomtoes · 02/07/2024 22:34

It reminds me of that marvellous quote about marriage the “deep, deep peace of the double bed after the hurly-burly of the chaise longue”.

He guided me to the chaise and looked deep into my eyes

”Did I mention I’m passionate about public service?”

“Oh Keir! Tell me more”

“My father was a toolmaker…” he whispered, “and my manifesto is fully funded”

Reader, I voted for him.

Moonshiners · 02/07/2024 23:58

Also for some of the absolute wankers that have treated us with sheer contempt to lose their seats.
Oh my days if Jacob Rees Mogg goes I will be happy for weeks

Agree with this^
i’m looking forward to our political life being dull. I want to watch “Would I lie to you” for entertainment not
Prime-minister’s questions or Politics Live.

However my main hope is that NHS will improve. I know it will take some time but I want this process to start.

ipredictariot5 · 03/07/2024 01:09

The mother of all hangovers on Friday

ipredictariot5 · 03/07/2024 01:12

And then deleting Twitter, getting on with my NHS job with faith that things will get better, being positive about being offered extra hours for WL if needed, giving Wes Streeting a bit of time and goodwill
feeling as a country we will have come together by a large majority to put a competent and safe team of people in charge on the left of centre and not to be the yardstick by which chaotic governments in other countries measure themselves by

Are you an ostrich? Have you not seen the news ? Three PMs in three months? Was political chaos.
You may be an ostrich and not care, I'm an elephant and can never forget.

hattie43 · 03/07/2024 06:09

Sharing a public toilet with a man
Having our countryside vanish even more to have hideous box homes built on the cheap
Paying loads more tax
Spending a small fortune on ' green issues '
My diesel car being priced off the road
Unions having a stranglehold always on strike
Anyone whose earnt anything will have their net worth reduced

Probably loads more benefits but it's early

MimitteAndElsaGoToSwitzerland · 03/07/2024 06:19

Just a bit of hope for the future would be nice.

My biggest hopes for the future would be that I'm able to get medical treatment so that I can have a life again, rather than being disabled though Tory neglect of the NHS.

When people say the Tories care about women, it really, really fucks me off. It's like an errant husband gaslighting us about how he's changed this time, when he's been abusing us for years. Actions count, not more bloody lies.
