What are you most looking forward to if Labour win?

Presuming theyre going to win the election, what manifesto promises are you hopeful about?

For me it's going to be their promise to fast track rape trials, providing proper support to rape victims and targeted support within the police for victims of domestic violence.

Let's hope they make it happen.

This is the narrative that comes up in Conservative focus groups. If you wonder why it happens, you might ask yourself whether you have paid enough attention

What, that all Tory politicians are self-serving and only in it to make their friends richer? And they hate the poor?
Seems strange from a Conservative focus group

Who funds Labour in Wales by chance?
Could it be similar to how Tory Governments deliberately underfund labour run councils to make the local people want to vote away from them?

Why do you think Tories wouldn't get worse? They've proven for 14 years they don't care about it so expecting them to change their mind is misguided.

In Wales 9% more is spent on health than in England. (Labour party figure)

In March 2024 there were 0.5 pathways (per 100 population) where a patient was waiting more than 52 weeks for treatment in England, and 4.5 in Wales. (ON$)

nailed it.

Exactly

Relief from the endless he said she said crap of the last 8 weeks.
Hope that there will be a bit civility regardless of who is voted in.

The return of freedom, sanity and tolerance and love, of diversity and community. While North West Europe shifts hard right, we will be a beacon of light in the dark. Labour will win by a landslide and be endorsed by the mass majority of the country, who want all these things. We will return to the EU and help steer it to a better direction away from the reactionaries of France and Germany. The NHS will once again be fit for purpose, and trans folk will be able to live their lives without fear of hate and judgement.

I feel so positive right now I can simply burst.

You can read it on Conservative Home like I did. The truth hurts

I think we'll only get that if we elect a Lib Dem Opposition.

Yes the Tories coming third would be excellent. Maybe some self reflection will occur

Are you serious or being sarcastic? I can't tell.

Having a government that doesn't waste its energy on fighting amongst itself, it's like watching a load of toddlers pushing and shoving each other. Just want some stability tbh

We can only hope now can't we?

And VOTE.

(Your comment regarding @Leah5678 neighbour's business model under the Tories just made me absolutely ROAR with laughter. Bravo. Grin)

Wait and see. I’m sure they’ll show you if you give them time. They have during previous governments.

The old Tory trope doesn’t work any more. Some of us have memories that go back beyond 2010. Nice try, though.

Some of us have longer memories than that.

Aw, come on, at least give us a clue...? You can't be all mysterious and doom laden without telling us what we need to be worried about. What's going to get worse?

Yes. We should base our decision making on what happened 50 years ago. That sounds sane and taking in the current state of affairs

Like NHS England, Wales are facing the same issues with underfunding, lack of resources including beds. There are a lot of reasons for more/less demand. How many hospitals there are, local population vs capacity, social care, average age of the population and of course poverty.

Can we make direct comparisons between the NHS in England and Wales? | NHS Confederation

We have 4 devolved healthcare's which all have different strategies also so the way one reports something isn't the same as the other.

Can we make direct comparisons between the NHS in England and Wales?

Data is drawn upon to make performance comparisons, but other factors must be borne in mind for an accurate picture.

A real investigation into how school classes function with such a range of abilities together. Not ideology driven.
One of my friends had a hell of a time because he knew he never did quite understand things. He was always trying to catch-up.
He faced failure every day. Does it have to be like that?

AnneElliott · 03/07/2024 15:32

I do hope people won't be disappointed if there's a change of Government.

I've been a civil servant for nearly 25 years and they all have more in common with each other than they do normal people.

I've worked for some really good Ministers and secretaries of state from all 3 parties (ie during coalition) plus had some terrible ones again from all three parties. Most of them come into politics for the right reasons but they absolutely aren't like normal regular people.

here you are. Not flattering. And tbh Labour would not have the lead they do without this perception that the Tory Party are s bunch of pirates. This genteel party of the shires has disappeared, replaced by a group of well spoken muggers.

Well to be fair, the group is not exactly flattering about Labour either, are they? It sounds like a MN thread!

Being able to open a newspaper or switch on the tv without having to look at a picture of Little Rishi with his mouth open.
