What are you most looking forward to if Labour win?

Presuming theyre going to win the election, what manifesto promises are you hopeful about?

For me it's going to be their promise to fast track rape trials, providing proper support to rape victims and targeted support within the police for victims of domestic violence.

Let's hope they make it happen.

I was really looking forward to having Labour raid my pension scheme and use it for their latest vanity projects.

What vanity projects? Putting the country back together and trying to repair some of the Tory damage to healthcare, education and social care, building much needed houses? Those vanity projects? I support the Rwanda scheme wasn’t a vanity project?

Growth, fictitious, Growth,
Recession is nearby,
Taxes take their toll,
BoE's in a bind!

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/12/2024 10:06

Theres also a big north/south divide here. It’s much colder in north than SE.

We’re on the breezy NW coast, @ArseInTheCoOpWindow . 60 and 65. We don’t need the heating on yet. It’s windy but unseasonably warm.

Bad poetry. Yep, that will change people's minds about this government.

Yes, because everyone loves the government ATM , don't they ?

Change people's minds ? Apart from Mumsnet, they changed at record speed post election, go and look at the stats 😁

O And please watch Trevor Philips today ;

The economy is contracting,

The BoE says you will see no growth for the next 3 months

The BoE says the budget is the cause of this

Here here Labour!

Exciting times!!

The stats just go to show that people have the memory of goldfish and that politics has become a childish game show with people wanting immediate gratification. Me, I'm prepared to give this government more than a few months to turn round 14 years of disastrous policy making. But you do you.

You to do?

Governor of the BOE has said that below, so frankly bury your head in the sand.

The economy is in a collosal fk up.

Debt rising , interest rates can't move, mortgage rates climbing, contraction, no growth , inflation!
Lovely hiding behind a gold fish analogy, when all key market variables are saying this!

You do have a nice line in catastrophising. I hope you were saying exactly the same things when inflation was running at over 10% under the previous government, when the Truss mini budget sent mortage rates sky high and when Brexit started biting businesses. Did you?

Im talking about the here and now. and yet , like the current government you want to talk about what the previous Government did.
Why are you steering away from what I have said? Cant battle with key measures, thats why.

The key manifesto pledge was GROWTH , do you see any? Anything but, yes.

HauntedPollingBooth · 22/12/2024 14:31

No, I want to ask whether you made the same complaints when the previous government were in power and screwing things up, because I suspect that you didn't. And sauce for the goose, you know.

There are reasons why inflation is up - the price of fuel is driving this in large part and that is due to instability in the Middle East. When this happened previously, were you blaming the government or did you accept that there are things national governments don't control?

As for growth - that takes time to build. You can't even give this government six months to start things rolling. Again - the childish desire for instant gratification. Meanwhile we have a government who are improving workers' rights, working to deal with violence against women and girls, are responding fast to the Sara Sharif case by making moves against allowing home education in families where there has been SS involvement, are working to reset relations with the EU (though I really wish they'd just be bolder, bin Brexit and get us back into the single market!), nationalising railway franchises - and you're just ignoring all that and not giving them time on the economy. I'm patient. I've waited 14 years. Why can't you even give it the duration of ONE parliament?

Nobody with half a brain expected to see growth in five months.

Yes but blossomtoes, we HAD growth, we were the fastest growing country in the G7 (which I have cited before ), when Labour took it over and took it down the shitter. I said I would come back on this tread, when you didnt believe me when I said theyd raise taxes. They raised taxes to historical levels seen outside wars this country has fought.

A half a brain could easily see there WAS growth and now there IS contraction. As per the Andrew Bailey has said, its likely to last.

TammyBundleballs · 22/12/2024 15:22

I’m mainly looking forward to them getting voted out and not being seen again for at least another generation.

Growth has gone up and down like a whore’s drawer in the last few years.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/941233/monthly-gdp-growth-uk/

You love your copy pasting , the point being that growth was on the up, interest rates coming down , inflation at BOE target and now , tits up !

It's funny isn't , when Labour fk the country, their supporters say ' harder, harder' , don't worry it's coming !

Rummly · 22/12/2024 16:06

Very slight point, but it’s ‘hear, hear’.

Oops I had said it correctly before . Point noted

Katypp · 23/12/2024 08:12

I have said so many times, but I am constantly 🙄 at the amount of slack Labour are constantly cut on MN, in a way the Tories never were when they were in Goverment.
The economy is tanking, yet we have justification, reasoning and stats to explain why in a way posters would never accept if Rishi was still PM.
Yes, there may well be good reasons why things are going the way they are, but posters would not want to hear them when the Tories were in office.
Hypocrisy.

Arconialiving · 23/12/2024 12:24

I agree @Katypp

I'm not a fan of either political party, just want what's best for the country and right now we're not in a good way and yet everyone just seems so accepting. It's terrible.

BIossomtoes · 23/12/2024 12:59

When Sunak was PM his party had been in power for 13/14 years. The current government has been in power for less than six months. I’ll be as critical as the next person if things are no better this time next year but your comparison is ludicrous at this point @Katypp.
