Presuming theyre going to win the election, what manifesto promises are you hopeful about?

For me it's going to be their promise to fast track rape trials, providing proper support to rape victims and targeted support within the police for victims of domestic violence.

Let's hope they make it happen.

I look forward to waking up going to work and then handing over all money and having duck all as our taxes rise. Because God forbid you dare to be able to save money and do well. Might aswell turn into a robot.

Beefcurtains79 · 03/07/2024 06:39

I’m looking forward to the urinary leash that will soon be back on women, nurses being bullied and silenced, lack of opportunities for women in sport, and more women being punished when they dare complain.

Having grownups governing us rather than petulant man-babies

What a stupid comment.

I worry about what Labour haven’t said rather than what they have said.

People have such selective memories . Labour are a disaster.

And no this isn’t Rishi . I am a floating voter who is well aware that they have no magic stick and’ abracadabra’ it will be better: only by taxing to the hilt like Labour always have.

I do worry because London is fucked under Khan. Crime rate is unbelievable .

The NHS is an even bigger mess in Labour run Wales than it is here.

Gah!! 😩

HotPipe · 03/07/2024 07:00

Lots of people on here say Sure Start Centres were fantastic and such a boon to local areas and sorely missed. I didn't use them myself, although I remember the roll out back in the day. Not sure why I didn't use - don't think they ever interested me...but come on Labour, read Mumsnet! People are crying out for the return of these in our neighbourhood, they are desperate to get them back.

I look forward to:
no more potholes
a fully functioning NHS

Women's rights being trampled on worries me though.

A fully functioning NHS ??

How's that working out for the Welsh then .

Midgegreenstreet · 03/07/2024 07:12

I'm looking forward to thoughtful, compassionate and principled therapists, like the Tavistock whistle blowers, having their approach to treating gender dysphoria outlawed. I can't wait for more vulnerable or same-sex attracted people to be pushed towards life long medicalisation and surgery to fix ther mental health problems after *conversion" therapy is banned.

Potholes have been a problem since 1760! (Sorry that is the weirdest fact)… I don’t think they’ll be sorted anytime soon although I’m sick of them too!

LittlePearDrop · 03/07/2024 07:12

I'm looking forward to politics being boring again. No more dramas!

Jackette · 03/07/2024 07:13

It is unlikely there will be the huge changes that people hope for. All politicians are cut from the same cloth, all self interested ultimately and very few with real integrity.

The issues with the NHS are not just financial but it’s such a sacred cow no one will ever really sort it out because it’s too difficult.

Though politicians legislate and cause many issues people rarely look to themselves as being the problem.

Starmer failing

You actively want a PM to fail?

Thats just bonkers.

user1984778379202 · 03/07/2024 07:16

Bland politics, that's what I'm most looking forward to.

I am so tired of the grandstanding, the hyperbole, the untruths, the exaggerations, the excess, the arrogance, the punching down.

The Tories have turned politics into a blood sport. I am therefore looking forward to the nation calming the fuck down under Labour.

It's also wishful thinking. With a supermajority he'll be able to get all his policies through the House with no opposition. Hard to fail when you're always winning.

Jobsharenightmare · 03/07/2024 07:21

I'm looking forward to investment in the NHS. Although I don't fancy sharing a ward with a man and not being allowed to complain about it because of a GRC.

Yeah I know Hattie! But everyone keeps telling me they will sort it.

That's happening now under the tories.

Yes it's wishful thinking, but I really think many people are going to be bitterly disappointed in a Labour government.

Never thought I'd be considering voting for an opposition just to keep the gov in check

Yeah, it is. I've shared a ward with men.

Stability. The chaos we’ve all tolerated these past few years needs to stop.

This.

I'm also looking forward to having a government which prioritises the public sector and which will support the most vulnerable in society

Realduchymarmalade · 03/07/2024 10:25

There’s so much I’d like to be hopeful for, they are my party and always have been, but I just don’t see it happening. Much of child poverty is caused by the two child benefit cap and they have no plans to change this. They won’t do anything to fund libraries, something sorely missed by the children of this country. Every park will still be a massive dog toilet.
These past 14 years have been very hard for my (very) low income family and yet, incredibly, three months ago my husband secured an unbelievably wonderful promotion going from 30k to 58k. What this has meant for our three children is their first holiday and they now get to have the music lesson/horse riding lessons respectively that they longed for for years. Now I’m feeling desperate that Labour will see my husband as a high earner and take the extra away. We have only just got on the property market after going into negative equity in 2008. I want those worse off than us to be ok, of course I do, but going back to just scraping by again feels heartbreaking.

shittestusernameever · 03/07/2024 10:28

I'm looking forward to having men in women's spaces

No matter who you vote for, they're all cut from the same cloth.

hattie43 · 03/07/2024 10:31

I think the nub of it is that the poor think Labour are the holy grail and the middle / high earners will just see themselves shafted having to pay more tax to support the poor not all of whom are deserving .

The nub of it is:

The poor are more likely to vote Tory/Reform.

The educated and professional are now more likely to vote Labour.

Exactly. The voting pattern has turned on its head. The more educated you are, the more you’re likely to lean left.

Gettingbysomehow · 03/07/2024 10:40

Watching days of cheering and jubilation followed by Labour wondering how they are going to clear up the mess following Brexit and covid when there is no money. Then watching as Labour slowly corrupts itself over the next 10 years and Tories are voted back in with a big majority.
Same day different shit. Its been the same my whole life.
