What's this in my shed then...?

A mass (about the size of my hand) of small grey black metallic-looking shiny balls (looks a bit like caviar, only bigger).

I guess they're eggs of some sort, I would just like to know what I'm going to be infested with, when they hatch....

i would hazard a guess at some kind of butterfly, moyth

well.. obviously caterpillars when they hatch

starlover · 31/03/2006 11:30

anything like \link[http://www.doubledw.us/DSC_3142-moth-eggs.jpg\this?}

Feistybird · 31/03/2006 11:30

oh hope so SL, dds would love that - just not keen on red ants, spiders (double shudder) etc.

oops \link{http://www.doubledw.us/DSC_3142-moth-eggs.jpg\this?}

Feistybird · 31/03/2006 11:32

yes, only black and they are piled up on one another, about a couple of cm - I prodded them (gently) with a broom handle and they are soft.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkk, I'd be running out of the shed faster than my feet can carry me at the first sight of 'eggs' in my shed

Feistybird · 31/03/2006 11:34

NdP, know what you mean, gave me a definite shudder and I won't go in there, feel a bit of a wuss about it really....but they are quite beautiful really - looks like molten metal.

well put them in a box or something.. then you won't have a shedful of caterpillars! lol

colditz · 31/03/2006 11:55

They are obviously giant spiders, that will feast on your toes when they hatch

Nbg · 31/03/2006 11:57

Pop one.

Then you'll know!

Feistybird · 31/03/2006 11:59

Colditz - you are the spawn of the devil.

'Pop on' - vomit emoticon!!!

Nbg · 31/03/2006 12:01

Go on.
I dare you.

In fact double dare you...

You know you want to, just one.

Nbg · 31/03/2006 12:25

Look, just pop the bloody thing!

Stick some blu tack on the end of your sweeping brush handle, stick a pin in the middle of it and go popping.

Pmsl!

what if it exudes pea-green pus?

or god forbid if 8 hairy legs unfurled....

OP posts:
jmum6 · 31/03/2006 12:29

They might, in fact, not be of this world.....

Nbg · 31/03/2006 12:29

Your a parent arent you?
Surely you can cope with green pus!

If hairy legs come out then run!!!

Do it, I want to know what it is Grin

jmum6 · 31/03/2006 12:29

Could be alien spiders - bigger, hairier and blacker than ours!

Nbg · 31/03/2006 12:30

Might they be some form of fly?

Feistybird · 31/03/2006 12:32

dp will be home in an hour. If he wants to, he can pop one....yuck, there is no way I am doing that.

jmum, it does have an other-world look about it. Maybe it's on a reccy from the mother ship and making it's way to my house...

OP posts:
Nbg · 31/03/2006 12:33

I reckon they are spiders actually.

[[shudder]]

Feistybird · 31/03/2006 12:33

Call me paranoid, but I sense some people are having a bit of fun with my neoroses here...
