What's this in my shed then...?

A mass (about the size of my hand) of small grey black metallic-looking shiny balls (looks a bit like caviar, only bigger).

I guess they're eggs of some sort, I would just like to know what I'm going to be infested with, when they hatch....

Just really curious to know what it is.
I'd start packing your bags though just in case it is those camel spiders!

kid · 01/04/2006 20:32

I've just read the whole of this thread and its hilarious! I have no idea what they could be, but if it was a camel spider I would be packing my bags right now. I wish I hadn't looked at that last link, they are HUGE!

I really want to know what they are, you just have to gather them into a jar. Imagine if you go out there one day and they are all gone, you will never, ever know!

jmum6 · 01/04/2006 22:31

Well...? What was it?

Or are they still lurking?

Or have the hatched and eaten you all up?

:o

kid · 01/04/2006 22:33

jmum6 - I think she has been eaten by big camel spiders. (I'm going to dream about them tonight, I just know it!)

jampots · 01/04/2006 22:34

knock knock!

Feistybird · 01/04/2006 22:45

Sorry, am very late with an update.

Will people please stop mentioning camel you-know-what...

Anyway, kid, yes, the squash bug image looks very like it, but there are masses of them and they're kind of piled up - and would I not expect to find the squash thinges on leaves....?

OP posts:
Feistybird · 01/04/2006 22:47

and yes, they are still there. will get dp to move some of them into a jar tomorrow - couldn't face the prospect of them disappearing overnight never knowing what they are.

jmum6 · 01/04/2006 22:53

Dp says the best thing to do is to napalm them just in case!

Personnally I think you should start a video diary and keep us posted with the developments.

Off to bed now to dream about camels with 8 legs....

CHECK OUT THAT CAMEL SPIDER!!!!!!

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 02/04/2006 11:50

It is deadspawn - there's a garden round the corner from us where there was a pond until last summer. It was always spawnarama at this time of year. They filled it in (the owners not the frogs/camel spiders/aliens) and it's just been bare earth since then. Yesterday I saw the 'xact same black dots there. The frogs are either in denial or turned up for their conubials during one of last week's downpours when every garden round here was an inch under water for a few hours, but the water has since drained off. Sorry to give you such a mundane explanation.

Mind, I still wouldn't want to be the one to have to lift it, and I am the fabled hairy-handed truckerWink
