[[https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/further_education/3313710-Class-of-18-nervously-waiting old thread]]

You know the drill though, that one needs to be used up first lowers glasses to give (behave Chocolate!)

Some of us already have btech results, some have unconditionals, but it's a nervous time for most. Lots of Wine Gin Flowers

Welcome back whiterose

LeiatheSchnauzer · 14/08/2018 22:25

Yes to all of that! Ditto ditto! My ds deserves to do well and I'll be proud of him no matter what but I just hate not knowing where he's going to be a month from now. He's probably going to be leaving home and I want to know where!
(I used to be on mumsnet a lot from around 2005 but then had a long break!)

TheThirdOfHerName · 14/08/2018 22:26

whiteroseredrose
7.30! Shock
DS1's school won't open until 9.

LadyMacnet · 14/08/2018 22:37

Roisin I’ve been here since the very early days - with lots of name changes. I mainly lurk now but A level results are a kind of marker of transition to adulthood, and it is reassuring to know that there are lots of other parents sharing similar sentiments as their DCs wait for Thursday morning.

MrSlant · 14/08/2018 22:40

Thank you for the @, just back in the UK (WiFi, whoop!) and placemarking. Fingers crossed home properly by tomorrow afternoon then the worrying can start in earnest.

He doesn’t even know how clearing works. Oh god.

UrsulaPandress · 14/08/2018 22:41

Wishing good luck to everyone who has taken exams or has dc taking a levels this year or next year but bowing out of this thread as don't feel it's for me anymore.

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/08/2018 22:43

Dd's school open at 8:30, so not as early as some buy early enough. I'm really really glad we don't have the uncertainty about where DD is going since she's definitely going to her firm as it's unconditional.

I'm a relative newcomer to MN, I've only been here since 2012. I found a lot of support on the miscarriage boards, then stayed for the rest of it. I'm glad I found it because otherwise I wouldn't have "met" you lot.

PandaG · 14/08/2018 22:45

Hi all, found you! Just had 9 students round for dinner as a distraction from Thursday! We are on the student team at our church, and I put a message out if anyone was in the city they'd be welcome for dinner, I was quite surprised at how many were around - but it is resits week!

We'd kept tomorrow night clear to distract the boy, but he's just arranged to go to the pub with mates, so we are off to a friend's for dinner. Nerves really kicking in now...

Knittinganewme · 14/08/2018 22:50

I'm here, we've had a really fun day battling pixels (and going to the gym less fun as they didn't seem to think that we needed aircon today. Yes, yes we did)

raspberryrippleicecream · 14/08/2018 23:00

DDs opens at 8. She went in about 2 hours late for GCSEs and AS, to miss the crowds, but knows she will have to crack on with it this year.

Parents role is to hang out in car park.

I've been posting about 7 years I think, I'm one long running thread which the OP started when her DD was in Y1 and she is in Y7 now, and I was around for a bit before that.

Ms AD good job we are both on here! Thank you for the update of your DDs room!

PandaG · 14/08/2018 23:06

School.opens at 10 here, or from 7 if you know you need to go through clearing.

Roisin, I've been around about 13 years I think, wish I'd found MN sooner

Trufflethewuffle · 14/08/2018 23:17

My boys have been pretty chilled all summer but are getting a bit twitchy this last few days.

I really don't know what to think at the moment.

YippeeTeenager · 14/08/2018 23:27

I’m here, and will be sad to see you go Ursula

Getting very twitchy now and a bit shocked that it’s so close. Which is very daft after counting down the days for weeks!

School opens at 7.15 Shock

DrPeppersPhD · 14/08/2018 23:35

Bye Ursula! We'll miss you!

lashingsofgingerbeer · 14/08/2018 23:45

07.30am school opening for my DD too. Starting. To. Feel. Queasy. Yes, agree it's the suspense & uncertainty of it all - let's just be doing it now!

Ursula don't leave us now - the last furlong is in sight & we'll have no one to regale us with the horse stories anymore - a much welcomed distraction!

marmiteloversunite · 14/08/2018 23:56

I agree we need the horse stories!!!

Spent last half an hour looking for the email that tellls us what time school opens on Thursday. Can't find it! I have 9.30 in my mind but seems late so I might have made that up. Will have to get DD to contact her friends tomorrow to find out.

HardwickWhite · 15/08/2018 00:00

Ursula just on the off chance that you still look here. Please don’t go. I hope you are well, but if not, there is support here. X

PandaG · 15/08/2018 00:09

Agree with Hardwick, Ursula. Hope you are ok? Xx

HesMyLobster · 15/08/2018 00:19

Ursula I really hope everything is ok?
You will be dreadfully missed if you leave, I very much look forward to your posts.

raspberryrippleicecream · 15/08/2018 01:01

Ursula please don't leave us, you definitely belong with us.

2gorgeousboys · 15/08/2018 07:11

Good Morning! Hope everyone managed some sleep and there weren't too many weird dreams? I woke at about 1am for a short while but actually slept well (I think that's the gin working it's magic!!)

Ursula I've not been on thread long, but I hope everything's ok?

Thankfully I've got a really busy day of back to back meetings at work plus nipping out mid morning for a briefing on school's results. It's my first year as Chair of Governors so I'm nervous on behalf of school (and focussing on that this morning instead of DS).

Petalflowers · 15/08/2018 07:33

I know I have been here for at least six years, can’t remember hw soon before that.

One sleep (-less) night to go.

I’m hoping for the best, but expecting one bad result.

Hoping dc will get at least one A, and hoping for a C in maths, (but half expect a D, as found it difficult), third A level, would like A or B.

Fortunately, unconditional, but needs to maintain academic ability, as as apprenticeship not uni.

As someone above said, they’ve put in the work, and would them to get rewarded for that.

Petalflowers · 15/08/2018 07:33

Any other apprenticeship-ers here?

Petalflowers · 15/08/2018 07:34

Chair of Governors - wow. Good luck!

Slartybartfast · 15/08/2018 07:34

dd is going to friends tonight and then going on to sixth form in the morning. Worried she wont tell me results. I wanted to be there for her Sad but I am glad for her she will be with her friends who are important to her.
