I cleared up the biology stuff off the floor last night while DD was in the shower and had a mini panic when I saw a list of questions hidden under a load of stuff about the scientific article preparation. I asked her about it and she said she had been doing it online. Phew!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 09:35

phew Lonicera!

I know Marmite. I think it's a hang over from when they are little, it's hardwired into us to go into full alert mode. When dh gets up in the night I think nothing of it get annoyed that he woke me

I am so so so anxious this morning. I can't focus on anything for more than a few minutes. It's ridiculous. I just don't want her coming home upset. Three hour paper, five minutes of it done.

I'm sneezing so much this morning too, but I think it is the dust and the cats.

Marmite and Knitting ds1 told me last night that he hadn't revised anything but the film music and Courtney Pine and possibly a bit of Wenlock Edge. He refused point blank to look over Petals..."I'm not writing about thaat..no way". This threw me into a panic, but what if no film music comes up what are you going to do then..? He says he is really good at what he refers to as Wider Listening.

We never iron duvets or sheets in this house. And they are 100 percent cotton. I hang them out on the bannisters or on the line. I suppose it might be worse if they went in the dryer, more scrunchy.

TheThirdOfHerName · 18/06/2018 09:51

DS1 is normally quite tidy, but the state of his room has gradually been deteriorating.

For the last month, I haven't asked him to tidy or do chores, as it adds to his anxiety.

He did change his sheets this weekend without being prompted, so he still has a sense of smell.

His room desperately needs a bit of a clear-out.

TheThirdOfHerName · 18/06/2018 09:52

You can get polycotton sheets and duvet covers which don't need ironing. After a few washes they feel nearly as soft as cotton.

Is it too early for Gin yet?

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 09:58

still I mean, not yet.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 09:59

or do I mean yet? Confused

dh tried to talk to me about finances this morning, I had to tell him it was no good talking to me about anything at all.

I think I might head into town and do a few odd jobs - I've made a list so hopefully I won't muddle them.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 10:04

oh no! I've lost my list!

Twenty minutes (& counting!) away from exam freedom!!!!!!! Cannot WAIT!!

Kitten that was my brain last week! Grin

marmiteloversunite · 18/06/2018 10:35

So I am going to have to teach DD to get her bedding out, shake and spread out without creases. I think she needs to become an expert of the shake, smooth and fold this summer.

flatmouse · 18/06/2018 11:22

Hope all exams going well today.
DS has done an hour of Greece revision (once he'd explained to me what world cup matches are being played today, and which teams should win). On a break again now. Seems the breaks getting longer! He had a good 2hr session with chemistry tutor last night.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 18/06/2018 11:34

Done. Dusted. Deliriously happy!!! Does a little dance at her desk...and that's just me Grin DD ecstatic needless to say & Paper 3 'ok'. Now for the fun bits!

Wishing everyone else all the very best of luck with their DC & exams - nearly there!!

Nettleskeins · 18/06/2018 11:37

ds1 is extremely untidy. He is a bit like that cartoon character was in Peanuts that moves around in a haze of sweet papers and loose bits. but he does change his sheets if I remove all the existing bedding and he is very grateful for clean sheets. He has picked the most upmarket of all the accommodation so we have been arguing with him that he is not going to a hotel but a student house and it doesn't matter if the kitchens are manky ovens don't work, the standard can surely be as low as his own home??? (not even mentioning the price)

ds has extra time so I dont think he will be out for at least a quarter of an hour, possibly 30 mins.

I'm starting the younger ones on a housework rota today. I hour each with jobs scheduled. Dd has conveniently gone off to visit a cousin, and had the cheek to ask me to drive her -as it would save so much time so no housework from her. Ds2 is lurking, in fear of what list I will give him when he emerges.

Nettleskeins · 18/06/2018 11:41

Lashings I am so glad you said that. I was feeling a bit damp squibbish but I too should be doing the dance of joy. It has all been a bit too exhausting, relief hasn't sunk in yet. And all I can think of is more academic work next year to worry over....Sad Difficult to move forward and feel freedom. Anyway, I'm sure ds1 will feel it if I just give him the chance!! This is going to be the holiday of "letting go"

NoHaudinMaWheest · 18/06/2018 11:43

Probably too late for the morning exam people but good luck today.

I don't think many students do any ironing at all. The halls ds was in provided an ironing board and iron in the shared kitchen. The iron in his was new as the block had been refurbished just before he moved in. I noticed it as we were packing to leave. It had obviously never left the box.

Nettleskeins · 18/06/2018 11:46

kitten I'm so sorry you are feeling anxious. It is horrible. Hope the errands helped a bit, and your dh not feeling anxious (that sometimes helps me if he doesn't mirror my emotions, I can see things more clearly for what they are) people telling you not to worry doesn;t help ironicallyl, how can they know what something means to you?

lashingsofgingerbeer · 18/06/2018 11:48

Nettles your dance of joy will surface soon, don't worry! Well done doing the housework rota!

Icouldbeknitting · 18/06/2018 11:55

I have fitted sheets, once they are stretched on they don't have any creases. I stopped ironing pillowcases and duvet covers years ago - unless you are running a B&B what does it matter? I line dry though so they aren't that creased anyway.

I have been faking an air of unconcern, I have no idea what he's been revising or how much because I don't want to put any pressure on him. If he turns up and does something in the exam that is a massive improvement on the mocks. My distraction has been painting, I'm painting the last four concrete planters. I might get a second coat on them this afternoon then I too am done.

Icouldbeknitting · 18/06/2018 11:59

Shall I just fill this so we can move onto the new thread?
