Is that MEI, Kitten? DD has the same for C4.

GnomeDePlume · 17/06/2018 14:40

Fortunately DD2 is not stressing about the FM it's a 'useful to have' rather than necessary for the course she is hoping to get on to (chemical physics). Universities do a 'maths for science' course which covers similar ground but it's useful to already understand first.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2018 15:33

It is raspberry.

DD has been revising all weekend. She has music tomorrow and the last History paper on Tuesday, then we are done! She is stressing about music because it is what she wants to study at uni and the A level is an unknown. They haven't really had any past papers to practice.
We will both be happy when Tuesday afternoon comes around!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2018 15:54

nearly there marmite :)

germany v mexico. revision has stopped for bit. Music tomorrow here too.
I've been out a lot of today, shopping with the dd.

The sofa's been moved around so more people can sit on it tomorrow and watch football.
Watched Fever Pitch last night (which probably why I am now so boringly tired) for first time. Explains it all. Ds2 is a devoted supporter (not of Arsenal though)

Nettleskeins · 17/06/2018 16:17

I mentioned the past papers in Music to ds1. He raised his eyebrows quizzically.

Icouldbeknitting · 17/06/2018 16:58

DS complains about music because the example questions they have been given have had errors (does the cello or piano come in first? - no, they both come in together for the first time in the same bar). He has concerns that the exam will have a question that is unanswerable because there is something wrong with it. I have assured him that this wouldn't be the first time this would have happened and that there is usually an outcry from the colleges and some allowance made on the marking scheme. I feel better telling him that than saying that there won't be anything wrong with the paper.

Nettleskeins · 17/06/2018 18:25

knitting that is helpful. I will check with ds that he knows that there may be errors and to think how he is going to cope (ie DO NOT LEAVE IT UNANSWERED) Tbh he is not very good at noticing there is something wrong with the question, not exactly a stickler for detail. Most musicians are not as sloppy as him.
sending the best best vibes for tomorrow and if it is incomprehensible, well as you say, there will be plenty of others who feel the same and the boundaries will change -says she hopefully

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2018 18:27

Good luck to the musicians for tomorrow!

We've had a nice girly afternoon playing with make up and stuff. Very unlike either of us so it was fun.

Yes you would think they would get the exam papers right for these kids that are slogging away! I think DD had one thin leaflet with some examples of questions from the board and that was it. Oh well. We will see tomorrow!

starfleet · 17/06/2018 20:36

DS took a break last night to come to a friends 50th. He was suitably embarrassed when we all had a little Grease singalong and he went off to hide by the buffet table.

One of his friends also loans out his ID card - DS can't as there isn't anyone else who looks similar to him so couldn't get away with using his!

4 this week,Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then that's it. Most of his friends are pretty much done so are off to the pub to watch the match tomorrow night - they are trying to convince him to go - he said he might as he is at home revising on the Tuesday and he doesn't drink anyway. He seems less stressed compared to this time last week.

ifancyagreencard · 17/06/2018 20:58

Just checking in . . had a lovely evening Friday. Made a point of marking the end of all that hard bloody work by going out to dinner with DD's BFF and her parents. Since then, DD's arse has barely left the settee and I don't think there is an episode of Friends left unwatched. Don't begrudge her a minute of this weekend's downtime (but I am looking forward to dinner been on the table when I get in from work tomorrow)!

Good luck for this week, everyone . . hang on in there.

HesMyLobster · 17/06/2018 21:33

DD has French tomorrow but has spent most of the weekend revising for the dreaded maths C3 ( her worst exam grade ever in the mock in January!)

Felt a little bit mean last night when DD2 had 50 of her closest friends Hmm over for an end of exams celebration and poor DD1 spent the whole night holed up in her bedroom doing past papers.

Kitten the whole STEP thing is just brutal, and such a cruel system. I'm rooting for your DD this week, really really hope the papers are kind to her 🤞

UrsulaPandress · 17/06/2018 22:00

50!!

HesMyLobster · 17/06/2018 22:06

Ursula yep!
Luckily managed to keep them in the garden for the majority of the night. It started off as 20-30 but I always knew it would escalate. They were actually as good as gold though.

UrsulaPandress · 17/06/2018 22:11

Aw bless I love seeing kids having a good time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2018 22:13

50! Yikes!

All is calm here tonight. Thank you so much Lobster, me too.

I'll get another thread going for us to use after this one is done. This went quickly, unlike the days!

Oh dear god. DD is now falling out with a 'friend ' as the dress she is considering for prom is too similar' to the one the friend has. Have suggested she stops garnering opinions from said friends but they won't be able to have photos taken together. Apparently.

UrsulaPandress · 17/06/2018 22:29

Friend has a Biology exam in the morning so maybe get off the phone and get some kip.

marmiteloversunite · 17/06/2018 22:30

Oh dear Ursula you will remember this summer as the year of nightmare dress shopping!!

UrsulaPandress · 17/06/2018 22:33

Add to that year of spesh horse.

Honestly I had a little weep in early May that it would be the last time I was cutting carrots for a horse.

Oh how I laugh now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2018 22:33

and the nightmare horse incidents. What a combo!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2018 22:34

x-post!

Maybe the horse is growing up too Grin
