DS also has a maths clash this afternoon, but at least he is up and revising this morning, and will take the evening off tonight. Feel sorry for his best mate who has the double, and turns 18 today!

Nettleskeins · 15/06/2018 09:54

ohkitten you sounds like me "worrying she is going to get food poisoning". Today I worried that ds would sit the exam and find that his boxers were too tight because they had shrunk in the wash and might cut off his circulation on his thighs, [thus stopping him being able to write anything about Romantic Poetry]I actually rushed upstairs to give him a pair of slightly stretchy ones which were still damp from the machine and tried to explain that if in doubt he should swop them before he set off...!!!!!!Grin needless to say he paid no attention to my mad ramblings

Classical Music/Pyscho/Batman theme all weekend for the last exam on Monday. "He seems quite calm about the "unseen" Knitting, he says he always done better on that bit. Ds has found that his favourite pop artist is playing in a new festival down the road and he didn't know and now all the tickets are sold out. it is frustrating, but there is always next year

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/06/2018 10:07

That's harsh Panda!

Nettles Grin Its funny the things that go through our heads.

dd has set off early to meet friends. She's super chilled. Long may that continue. I've got a fairly relaxed day too, apart from a couple of meetings this afternoon, so I'm going to bunk off work for a bit today. (benefits of being self employed)

Good Luck to all for today.

We are celebrating Eid today. Unfortunately I'm at work until lunchtime but DS got himself up early to revise for Mondays exam. He said he will stop for the family meal later but won't have time to be involved in the day as he has too much to do.

He has been driving himself into school but I keep worrying that he won't check that he has enough petrol in his car - I have visions of him running out halfway to school and having to do a mercy dash out of work to go and rescue him. I also worry that he won't get to school in time for his afternoon exams so keep using the tracker on my phone to check he has got there.

Roll on next Friday.

UrsulaPandress · 15/06/2018 10:25

Is it Eid then? Has the new moon been spotted?

Eid Mubarak

starfleet · 15/06/2018 11:07

Grin Ursula yes finally and thank you.

After lots of will it be Friday?/will it be Saturday? It is always the same palaver so you end up ringing around family and friends to check if everyone is celebrating on the same day.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 15/06/2018 11:20

starfleet Eid Mubarak.

Good luck for today's exam takers. Dd has eventually dragged herself in to revise. I am defrosting the freezer (I have all the fun!)

UrsulaPandress · 15/06/2018 11:22

I've just driven to school and seen lots of Muslims in their Eid finery. I was musing on how you find out. I was imagining a mahoosive WhatsApp group.

starfleet · 15/06/2018 11:36

Thanks NoHaudin

We do have a Whatsapp group Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/06/2018 11:57

Eid Mubarak!

I picked DD (Y9) up for the orthodontist and she said that only 2/3 of her class is in school today, so celebrations must have started.

PostNotInHaste · 15/06/2018 12:31

Thank you OhYouBadKitten, I’ll keep an eye out for the thread. Meanwhile I hope the rest of the exams go smoothly for all your DC’s.

HesMyLobster · 15/06/2018 12:45

Eid Mubarak!
Several children missing from my class this morning so I thought it must be!
Then one of them appeared at break to drop off cakes and sweets for the class so we could celebrate too. Very lovely Smile

DD is on her way to school for Maths Exam. (I have the phone tracker too! Wink)
I do have the panics about running out of petrol or being held up (so many roadworks around our town at the moment) or not being able to park.
I preferred GCSEs when she walked in!

She did seem pretty chilled this morning, fingers crossed 🤞

Eid Mubarak Starfleet

The twins have finished Physics (the last GSCE) and Ds1 has finally come home from Rossetti and Poems of the Decade. He seems pleased with what he wrote. I said he could now compose a "setting" for Goblin Market to which he replied, Yes I could. Pause. Then "But I won't" (in tone of great finality) Narrative in Rossetti and techniques about old age/childhood? not quite sure. I asked him if he had covered any of the topics in revision and he said, No, Not at All. well, a fresh and enthusiastic response then Hmm

Everyone is in a very good mood. We have had calamari from M & S, freshly fried diced aubergine and rocket for lunch in the garden. Ds2 has gone to Jurassic Park 2 with some friends.

GnomeDePlume · 15/06/2018 13:52

Eid Mubarak Starfleet

DD2 is in M2 this afternoon. One more Chemistry paper then loads of Maths (FM). The pressure is off that as she did the Maths A level last year.

flatmouse · 15/06/2018 14:51

DS in Rome exam at moment. He really wants to do well to counteract poor chemistry. I fear for Greece and last Chemistry with World Cup distraction. Good luck to all the afternoon mathematicians!

ifancyagreencard · 15/06/2018 15:01

starfleet Another Eid Mubarak for you Smile.

And from a celebratory household . . . . . as WE ARE DONE!

DD has finished on a happier note, after a truly mixed (bordering on rotten at times) fortnight. Her ideal Rossetti question came up and she feels it was a decent enough exam.

Gin for those who are still hard at it - hope everyone manages a bit of downtime over the weekend

HesMyLobster · 15/06/2018 16:59

DD says M1 was actually a pretty nice paper, apart from the last question which was something they touched in briefly in class apparently but hasn't been on a single past paper so she'd forgotten how to do it!

HesMyLobster · 15/06/2018 17:00

Oh Greencard Envy
Lucky you! Very jealous - enjoy the freedom!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/06/2018 18:17

hey greencard - you all survived. Congratulations!!!

Today's papers were fine apparently. oh well. Two days off then the dreaded STEP 2 paper. Can't wait til those are over and done with.

OP posts:
NoHaudinMaWheest · 15/06/2018 18:30

Greencard enjoy the relief.

flatmouse · 15/06/2018 18:52

Well done @greencard (and your DD).
DS reports Rome paper good. 1 v good question, other 3 more obscure but he thinks he's done well enough with the one he chose. Currently getting rid of all Rome and tidying psychology (hopefully that will be part of degree so keeping in case useful).
2 left!

Nettleskeins · 15/06/2018 19:04

I've put ds1's entire English syllabus and revision notes into a large laundry hamper. Sadly I found several useful pieces of paper that had clearly never been looked at. I've hoovered his room and made the bed and dusted everything while he was at school.

Nettleskeins · 15/06/2018 19:06

flatmouse was that Classical Civ or Latin? Did he enjoy the A level?

Nettleskeins · 15/06/2018 19:07

oh I see you mentioned Greece too.
