Is anyone else interested to see what happens here.

They are going to announce the Oscars nominations around 1.30pm today. If you are interested you can livestream at Oscar.com, Oscars.org,

I am hoping for nominations for Demi Moore and Marianne Jean Baptiste in the best actress categories, and also hoping for a few other surprises.

I did like her in scream 5! Didn't consider her best actress capacity then though

HauntedBungalow · 03/03/2025 03:40

There we are. Ffs.

Appalonia · 03/03/2025 03:40

Women, some days we think we've come so far, but then this crap!

SocksAndTheCity · 03/03/2025 03:40

I liked her in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood too. That can of dog food made me wince when it landed 😮

VictoriaSpungecake · 03/03/2025 03:40

How are they honouring and supporting the sex worker community? Except as research for their film.

Love Billy!

HauntedBungalow · 03/03/2025 03:42

They're honouring them because they say they are.

I don't get it either.

VictoriaSpungecake · 03/03/2025 03:43

I hope Conclave doesn't get it. A load of men in frocks.

Come on, Conclave. Jesus loves you

SocksAndTheCity · 03/03/2025 03:43

By portraying sex workers as normal people going to work and doing their mundane, everyday jobs just like everybody else, rather than treating them either as put-upon victims with no agency or just as a different species altogether?

HauntedBungalow · 03/03/2025 03:45

Well I hope The Holy Lord just goes right ahead and smites everyone in that room.

burnoutbabe · 03/03/2025 03:45

And Anora won!

You don't think she was portrayed as a victim in that film? By the end I thought they were saying that she was a vulnerable young person, that everything she'd done up to that point was mere bravado.

I thought The Brutalist was nailed on for that, but nope. It's definitely time for bed 😴

burnoutbabe · 03/03/2025 03:46

Night all! Has been a good few months here!

Yes, she was! But because she was taken in by a pathetic manbaby, not because she was a sex worker.

Supergel1 · 03/03/2025 03:47

Anora winning is making me want to rewatch Uncut Gems! I feel they exist in the same universe

VictoriaSpungecake · 03/03/2025 03:47

Loved it. You motivated me to watch all the films, which was great.

Women, some days we think we've come so far, but then this crap!

Why is western society trying so hard to normalise sex work?

VictoriaSpungecake · 03/03/2025 03:50

SocksAndTheCity · 03/03/2025 03:47

Yes, she was! But because she was taken in by a pathetic manbaby, not because she was a sex worker.

Who used her as a prostitute. Her being taken in was an indication of her ability to fantasise about a fairy tale life and ending for herself.

Oh, we should have had this conversation earlier. It's interesting.

Thank you all!
