Home alone should have only done 1 movie

And the best Batman film by far is Lego Batman

it’s hilarious 😆

Lost in Translation is boring wank shit. (Move over, Barry Norman.)

I heartily agree.

Also Sideways is boring and unfunny.

StirlingMallory · 29/06/2024 13:02

Killers of the Flower Moon is Scorsese's worst film, by a mile.

Duh · 29/06/2024 13:03

I think Richard Curtis movies are all utter tit but I hate Four Weddings and a Funeral most even though it’s one of his better films.

The reason I hate it is it made it sort of cool and aspirational to have a kid and not get married, like that was proper true love like Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant’s characters. I feel many people women of that era have been disadvantaged because of this trend when relationships later break up and they get shitty benefits rather than divorce settlements. I get that wasn’t the intention but it gives me the rage!

The book is great.

Adam West was the best batman.

Tisfortired · 29/06/2024 13:15

Wes Anderson films are all style over substance and all basically the same.

Killers of the Flower Moon is Scorsese's worst film, by a mile.

And After Hours is his best.

The Taste of Things (French submission for the Academy Award) is pure torture.

I couldn't decide whether I slightly liked it (because every shot looked so gorgeous), or whether Benoit Magimel doing his hatchet face and Juliette Binoche being luminous, and all that real-time close-up cookery made it insufferable.

I agree with two previous posters that the best Batmans (Batmen?) are the mad Adam West one and Lego Batman.

BigFatLiar · 29/06/2024 13:22

I enjoy the Hallmark style films (especially Christmas ones) that are on. Also I like the daft films on Legend and some of the other channels, same actors/actresses over and over in different roles. Sci-fi or disaster doesn't matter. They're a bit like when you went to the cinema and they had a b movie on before the main film.

NoisyBrain · 29/06/2024 13:23

The Shawshank Redemption is overrated and waaay too long.

Ditto all the Lord Of The Rings films.

The Royal Tenenbaums is a load of pretentious wank.

I love The Day After Tomorrow and have watched it at least 10 times.

I really enjoyed Pearl Harbour.

I only got about half an hour into It's a Wonderful Life before I switched off, just didn't get how it's meant to be the greatest Christmas film ever made.

Have you seen Kundun??

Namechanger385u4p · 29/06/2024 13:32

The Meg = cinematic genius.

No.

makes mental note not to

Meadowwild · 29/06/2024 13:37

Mama Mia makes me gag. I can't watch more than 30 seconds of it without cringing and have never watched more than 2 mins without making an excuse and walking out of the room. Everyone I know assumes I'd love it.

Same with Sex & The City. I was badgered into going by a group of friends and just scowled all through it.

Lollygaggle · 29/06/2024 13:46

The Long Kiss Goodnight is , possibly, one of the best action films ever.

GellerYeller · 29/06/2024 13:47

Richard Curtis movies are always ruined by someone speaking like Richard Curtis:
’shittety brickety’
’it’s all blue and wibbly’
Just stop it.
Tropic Thunder was Tom Cruise’s greatest acting triumph.

I’m glad to know my sacrifice is helping others. It really was interminable.

Oppenheimer was boring

I don't think that's an unpopular opinion. It really was awful.

FretfulPorpentine · 29/06/2024 14:06

@MisterT373
A favourite film is one you've watched dozens of times & can do most of the dialogue.

If that's the criterion, my favourite film is A Muppet Christmas Carol.

Agree Amelie was awful.

It's really obvious what's going on in Sixth Sense.

HRTQueen · 29/06/2024 15:39

Poor Things was a load of pretentious nonsense

certainly a marmite film my friend and I had a heated argument over it she is wrong of course 😬

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 29/06/2024 17:41

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 18/04/2024 20:56

Sharknado and a glass of wine is bliss.

Did think the sequels lost the spark a bit. The first it seemed like they were trying to be serious (and made a amazing bad film from it) then as they went on became aware somewhat? Though the robotic arm..David Hasselhoff..time travel. Did have it all

Mama Mia was dire..Mama Mia 2 was woeful and why are they making a 3rd?!

No one needed the Mean Girls musical and why did they make Cady so bland?!

StormingNorman · 29/06/2024 17:42

Nicholas Cage never made another good film after Con Air.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 29/06/2024 17:55

I beg to to differ.

The ending of The Rock is pure unsurpassed drama. 😀

Or did The Rock come before Con Air?

CollyBobble · 29/06/2024 17:55

Marley and Me is terribly acted, zero chemistry between Aniston and Owen Wilson, rubbish script and convoluted nonsense trying to be sentimental and failing.
