Home alone should have only done 1 movie

Hate musicals in any form.
Kiera Knightly can't act and is the same in every film she's in. That stupid grin... Sandra Bullock is the same! Grrr!
Psychological horror is far better than gore.
Although I do love Pulp Fiction (for the music more than anything!) I find QT is very overrated. I don't know why anyone worships him?!
Jeepers Creepers, the first one, was brilliant until she fell down that hole, then it lost it for me!

SheepAndSword · 19/04/2024 12:03

I'm not into musicals either. And not keen on Ferris Buellers day off.

I do actually really like The Firm!

Mairzydotes · 19/04/2024 12:33

The Wicker Man was rubbish. Although the plot was quite good, perhaps it would be better as a book.

The American remake in the 00s was even worse.

WitchesCauldron · 19/04/2024 13:19

Anything with Anne Hathaway is one to avoid. How she got an oscar for Les Miz is astonishing

I actually looked it up last night.

It's called Land Shark and it's the worst film ever made and the unintentionally funniest, probably. After Snakes on a Plane, which is, of course, a colossus in the genre.

Thanks!!!! I could really do with a laugh do might just binge that with the SoaP too😂xx

I have to warn you. Snakes on a plane is a proper film. LandShark is something else.

My unpopular film opinion is that I’ve come round to Tom Cruise, though only in the Mission Impossible films, where he’s essentially a well-known stuntman with Botox.

I have never found him in any way attractive, and loathe the early, sex symbol stuff like Top Gun, and the ‘serious’, mid-period stuff, and one gathers he’s a loon, but I find the Mission Impossible films quite likeable. Though in fairness, that’s probably because I like lots of the other actors in them, and I’ve always thought Ilse Faust should have been the lead. (Which makes what they did to her in Dead Reckoning Pt 1 even more outrageous…)

Edited

Same. I like his sci-fi films a too lot like The Edge of Tomorrow and Oblivion.

I like Mission Impossible films VS 007 where I feel they are so hard to watch.

All star casts are awful. When a film has too many famous people in it its hard to get immersed in the story. It's just like watching a group of people at work doing their acting jobs rather than seeing them as characters. I much prefer a film full of unknowns or at least people who haven't been in much.
Same as when they do a lot of promo stuff and talk about funny things from behind the scenes. I don't want to know about behind the scenes because then I think about it when I'm watching The Scenes and it ruins it a bit.

This 100 percent!

I was watching a film that was supposed to be about Jane Austen's life and Anne Hatthaway played Jane Austen, and I was like give it a rest already! FFS do you have to be in almost every film? She's not a terrible actress but she's so famous that you can't help but think "Oh look, Anna Hathaway in a costume!" and it breaks the immersion.

I also prefer a film or unknowns or actors who haven't been in much. Though I don't mind Tom Cruise or Emily Blunt strangely.

cassiatwenty · 20/04/2024 08:33

The Taste of Things (French submission for the Academy Award) is pure torture.

Neveralonewithaclone · 20/04/2024 14:47

Amelie was utter shite

TheDumpling · 22/05/2024 09:47

They turned a true case of the tragic Titanic into yet another soppy stupid love story!

Jaws or anything where sharks are baddies. I love sharks!

Harry Potter - the 3 main ''actors'' all give me the creeps.

Lord of The Rings.

ANYTHING with porn/sex scenes such as Game of Thrones etc. is something else I refuse to watch/read.

Oldandcobwebby · 22/05/2024 09:54

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang should have ended when they have restored the car and had their fun on the beach. The child catcher business is utter crap and makes the film (like so many firms for children) far too long.

lljkk · 22/05/2024 09:55

I could never get to end of Shawshank Redemption. I tried to watch it a few times. I just give up caring about every single character and go do something else.

maw1681 · 22/05/2024 10:24

Titanic is boring

I hate Alice in wonderland

I hated The Notebook

maw1681 · 22/05/2024 10:26

LittleMissSleepyUK · 19/04/2024 07:01

The Greatest Showman is a pile of poo

Agreed! I didn't even watch the end

Same with Mama Mia 2, watched in disbelief at how shite it was

justafleshwound2024 · 22/05/2024 10:33

I loathe the terrible movie version of The Shining. Horribly miscast, funny where it shouldn't be, grossly overacted, and that stupid talking to his finger that the child did in that ridiculous voice 🙄

It's truly awful. King hated it for years too but he caved eventually.

GoodHeavens99 · 22/05/2024 12:48

The Matrix was shite.

StopStartStop · 22/05/2024 12:51

Erm...'Most films are crap'? I don't have time or mental space for them.

MisterT373 · 22/05/2024 22:32

Shawshank Redemption is a mediocre film.

Many people say it's their favourite film but have only seen it a couple of time. A favourite film is one you've watched dozens of times & can do most of the dialogue.

songaboutjam · 23/05/2024 03:44

The Shining feels like one of those film student productions where it's trying to be scary but overdoes it and ends up being comical instead.

The Room is significantly better than most "bad movies".

Frozen had a poorly structured plot. I won't get started on Wish because these are supposed to be unpopular opinions.

The Batman wasn't awful, but I find the hype very confusing.

Low budget independent films are usually better than high budget blockbusters.

Epli · 31/05/2024 12:39

'Citizen Kane' is technically & visually amazing, but the script and the ending are shit.

I think that is Trump's favourite film?

Bassetlover · 10/06/2024 20:19

Robert DeNiro always plays himself.

BoredAuditor · 19/06/2024 14:48

LunaNorth · 19/04/2024 03:54

Citizen Kane is boring, stagey nonsense.

The Sound of Music should end at the wedding.

The original West Side Story is unintentionally hilarious when the gangs keep dancing at each other.

Mamma Mia and its evil spawn, Mamma Mia 2, are the most embarrassing films ever made.

Fargo is utterly vile.

Watching Hotel Chihuahua is a very fun way to spend an afternoon 😀

Edited

You do realise SoM is based on a true story - hence showing them escape over the Alps.

HRTQueen · 29/06/2024 12:46

Blade Runner is so boring (avoided the second one)

I enjoyed Barbie but can’t help but think the angle of it being a feminist film was lost given the best lines were given to Ryan Gosling and he stole the show

I love a disaster movie and the ones of the 70’s Towering Inferno type films

Under Paris was enjoyable has it all suspense, style, coolness of the Parisians and a massive aggressive shark
