When I first saw/ heard of this film I thought no way, mum and kids not my thing, worst fear having/ Not being able to protect my children so watching it would be horrendous. But lots of people saying it's really good.

Have you seen it?
Is it good?
Is it scary?

It's really good. Not scary just very intense

TopBitchoftheWitches · 28/12/2018 18:52

Finished watching it last night, loved it !
Would really recommend.

chapthedoor · 28/12/2018 18:52

I have read the book it's based on and will watch the film over the weekend. Nothing bad happens to the children in the book so I'm not worried (hate stuff like that)

Mynameisntmaud · 28/12/2018 18:53

Ooh i know I'll have a love hate relationship with it. I've had 3/4 a bottle of wine though so maybe now is the time to brave it! I'm not good with scary things. Love Sandra bullock though too

Not particularly scary but full of plot holes

Mynameisntmaud · 28/12/2018 18:54

Are you all horror lovers though? I'm a rom com girl but something's drawing me to watch this

Not scary but a scary concept if you put it into real life context and very tense. My worst fear is anything like this with children. I have three kids and I know something this major/the end of the world etc with kids would be absolutely heartbreaking and almost impossible so once I start putting into real life context it terrifies me. Decent film though.

AnyFucker · 28/12/2018 18:54

As usual, the book is better than the film but it is pretty decent

gamerchick · 28/12/2018 18:55

I enjoyed the film, haven't read the book though.

GhostSauce · 28/12/2018 18:57

The book is much better but the film is pretty good.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/12/2018 18:58

I'm not into scary / horror films but I enjoyed this one. It was very intense.

Gonzales27 · 28/12/2018 18:59

Does the book cover the obvious plot holes? I enjoyed it mostly but was left pretty disappointed.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 28/12/2018 19:01

As other posters have said book inevitably better but I really enjoyed the film. Incredibly tense at times and I felt myself literally sitting on the edge of my sofa.

I did well up at some of the scenes, pretty harrowing at times.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 28/12/2018 19:01

I haven't read the book.
I watched the trailer and had a nightmare about it, it scared me! The film was good, very tense and an interesting horror concept. I enjoyed it.

Silkei · 28/12/2018 19:01

The end of the book is different and much harsher. Imo the main plot holes aren’t covered though.

Mynameisntmaud · 28/12/2018 19:03

Ok I'm gonna do it. Will report back haha

Bombaybunty · 28/12/2018 19:07

Just watched it, not bad. Good build up but bit of an anti-climactic end.

Mynameisntmaud · 28/12/2018 23:27

Ooh i enjoyed it. Glad no monsters were shown. What are the huge plot holes?

OP posts:
TheFirstOHN · 29/12/2018 16:10

The book really grabbed me; tense and unnerving.

The film was OK; not particularly scary though.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 29/12/2018 16:12

God, I thought it was utter garbage Blush

Watched Miss Sloane the night after and thought that was great.

TheFirstOHN · 29/12/2018 16:13

The use of leaves and trees made Bird Box too similar to The Happening.

theworldistoosmall · 29/12/2018 16:17

I just felt it left too many unanswered questions. Would be interested to know if the book gives you more. I have seen several books to film and the books usually give you those answers and more.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 29/12/2018 16:20

I'm with DonDraper, thought it was rubbish.

Invisimamma · 29/12/2018 16:26

I liked it. Also my worst fears of not being able to protect children played out in this.

Plot holes, for starters, why had the bad-no-blindfold-people never discovered the safe haven blind school at the end? And where did they get supplies from, so secluded in the woods!?

BollocksToBrexit · 29/12/2018 16:27

I enjoyed it but DD thought it was rubbish as she didn't see how being confronted with a maths exam would make people kill themselves.
