This is the problem with men

I strongly suggest only reading the first para.

This is a mild mannered researcher, highly educated, appeared to be an animal lover. Featured on programmes with David Attenborough.

In his free time liked to torture animals for sexual kicks.

He says: "Adding that his family was not aware or involved in any way, he wrote: "I will seek long term treatment and... I will find a path towards redemption."

Still blaming others, not taking responsibility for his choice.

This case to me shows how impossible it is to "pick the right man", and what annoying thing that is to say to abused women. And also that these men systematically blame their abnormal sex drive on an "illness" or addiction, rather than facing up to the fact they can control their penises.

I don't know what the answer is. I wish he was never getting out of jail.

Sick fuck. If it was up to me I'd have him castrated. Remove all of it.

It's an interesting article but I'm surprised that it's seen as surprising that warfare predates human culture. Maybe I misunderstood that bit.

Yes - using the hypothesis of chimps.
I believe researchers have also identified a gene for violence and tracked it's prehistoric spread - read it in New Scientist a while back. I'll see if I can find it then stop derailing my own thread!

Sadly the problem is with these people's brains. I remember learning on a safeguarding course that even if you castrated them they would find other ways to sexually abuse the vulnerable.

At least they wouldn't be able to pass the "brain problem" on.

I wonder if the entire community he shared this with has this rare disorder.

The disorder can't be that rare then.

For devient sexual attractions, the reoffending rate is horribly high. However taboo it may be to say, I think they probably really can be thought of as 'sexualities'. I think the question then is how to keep men with deviant sexualities who have offended out of circulation. We aren't going to reform them. My answer is extremely long sentences in a non-punitive environment (ie, not five years in Cat A. But 30 years in some remote, humane, secure community). Possibly with sterilisation as an alternative if the offender prefers (after the 'standard sentence' bit).

Edited

I think I agree. Male only "communities" where they are only a risk to other deviant men.
It starts to get quite dystopian quite quickly though

Perhaps aggression is just more accepted in men, whereas women learn to curb their sadistic tendencies in the bud, so they don't get that far?

No one starts torturing animals (or people) from nothing. It starts small, the person tests the water and it escalates.

In my opinion it's as simple as that. We need zero tolerance to small acts of abuse/sadism/disrespect. Women don't get away with this type of bad behaviour in the beginning, so it usually doesn't escalate.

ApocalipstickNow · 08/08/2024 15:39

I read this earlier, it’s horrendous. The sentence is low and there’s the additional issue of the images of child sexual abuse which makes it even worse.

He’s quoted as saying he didn’t want to stop doing it so i guess there’s a high chance he will continue to offend.

The details are extremely upsetting, not just if you’re an animal lover.

DTisawazzock · 08/08/2024 15:47

Imagine his poor wife living with this knowledge now. His parents may still be alive. I mean...they'd never be able to look him in the eyes again would they. He has destroyed so many peoples' trust and for some of them their lives - as well as the poor animals.

GenderRealistBloke · 08/08/2024 15:56

@CassieMaddox

I think Germany has something like that, though I think it's a voluntary programme.

poppymango · 08/08/2024 16:03

This is one of those occasions where I’d like to see real justice; I’m imagining him meeting the same end as Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones… torn to shreds by a pack of very hungry hounds.

zibzibara · 08/08/2024 16:12

Wtf, this is horrifyingly vile.

I guess this pervert must have chosen to study and work in zoology because it gave him trusted access to animals, much like paedophiles choose careers that give them unsupervised access to children.

I wonder what the name of the rare disorder is. Hmm...

XChrome · 08/08/2024 19:39

People will often say things like; "But his wife must have known." just to find some way to blame a woman. The truth is that these sickos are scarily good at covering their tracks and pretending to be normal. Their spouses usually have no idea how deviant they are.

XChrome · 08/08/2024 19:44

Superlambaanana · 08/08/2024 13:58

You can be sure that if women exhibited some wildly unacceptable behaviour which threatened the very fabric of society, men would have tried to breed it out... oh no hang on... see 'forced sterilisation'.

I do believe this is bad brain wiring. Though until we can fix that with some targeted micro surgery, we should lock these people up or perform some kind of surgery which disables their urges or ability to abuse.

On the idea that the women who end up in relationships with abusers just make bad choices - I find MNers tendency to peddle that bullshit so offensive. 'Not my Nigel' and 'well I managed to pick a good one so why couldn't you' are disgusting sentiments.

Exactly. "You're just choosing the wrong men."
Almost all of them are the wrong men FFS. I'm not even convinced that truly good ones exist. Perhaps they put on a convincing act of being good guys and secretly do nasty shit their wives/GFs don't know about.

I’m completely done with the lot of them for this very reason.

Same. The very thought of sex with a man now sickens me. I'd be worried that he was having some vile fantasy.
The Not My Nigel crowd are likely unaware of the kind of sick porn their Nigels are using, unaware that they are even using it at all.

Disturbia81 · 08/08/2024 20:35

It's always men. Disgusting fucker

Starseeking · 08/08/2024 20:45

That was one of the most horrific stories I've ever read. What is wrong with these perverted men?!?

Rare disorder my eye, I take it the judge was a man as no woman would fall for that pile of poo.

Whatever medicine they can give him to destroy his sexual feelings, they need to inject him with that now.

Makes me feel completely sick.

Superlambaanana · 08/08/2024 20:48

@CassieMaddox "Oh good "women do it too" has cropped up."

I'm astonished no one has yet said 'NAMALT' or something about their Nigel being nice, or some of the male trolls coming on to set out stats about something a women once did which was criminal.

@GenderRealistBloke I do hope you're not actually a bloke because I agree that segregation is the only option. Put them all on a remote island and let them shag each other to their hearts content.

"women learn to curb their sadistic tendencies in the bud"

Women do not have the sort of sadistic tendencies that men have!!!!

I share your despair OP. I am sick of reading about men creating pain and distress for the sake of their orgasm.

Not the main point of this story at all, but I find it bizarre that he is only banned from keeping mammals. Perhaps just a blanket ban on owning any animal is safest given that there was a case a few years ago of some men sexually abusing a lizard. 😖

A lizard?
Jesus no, I dont want to know. I'm aghast.
The whole thing is beyond what I know.

What the fuck is wrong with these people. Who the hell needs power and control over an animal. You already have the power and control by dint of being allegedly human.
I haven't read it, I cant, I'll be upset for days. Poor bloody animals.

I have heard this many many times and thought its probably true. I am beginning to wonder if it really is though. Maybe we should give it a try for oh say 30 years? See what the stats say then.
