Would anyone like to start C25K in the New Year that needs some time to get your head together?

I've done this before and am planning on restarting in January. I've gained some weight and lost some fitness but realistically now is not the time to start.

However I'm not one for last minute things and my head needs to get itself in the right place (and plan a diet). So with this in mind over Christmas and New Year I'm starting in January.

Anyone care to join me?

Excellent trying my method is to say it's this number of songs and don't check my watch too often to see what I've done, sometimes I look and think is that all, and other times I'm almost done.

Thought I'd run on Fri morn but now I've to be at work for 7:30 so I don't think that will happen.

Parkrun is my next goal.

Haha I count songs too! Really try to avoid watching the time as it is sloooow.

Happierwithouthim · 27/03/2024 13:38

Some are shorter than you think though!

teddybearsbear · 28/03/2024 08:40

I have just started c25k after years of saying that I can't run! Done the first two runs from week one and actually looking forward to number three

I am a regular walker and thought this would be quite an easy progression but my legs are so tired!

Happierwithouthim · 31/03/2024 10:16

Yesterday I did W7R3 a week after W7R2 & today I did 5k in 36mins Grin

henlake7 · 01/04/2024 12:38

Wk3R1 for me....
Better then I thought Im surprised to say. The trick seems to be zoning out and not thinking about how long you have to run for!!LOL

Wk1R3 for me today and it was pouring down but I was determined to get it done while I had an opportunity
Had a peek ahead on the app and The jump to week 2 looks quite steady. I'm away for a few days this week but hoping to find the opportunity to at least get one run in even if it's on unfamiliar routes

36 mins is amazing. I haven’t managed that yet.

Happierwithouthim · 02/04/2024 09:44

While I was doing it, my legs were fine as was my breathing but my head kept saying you only ran yesterday, there's a reason the programme is designed the way it is, but I've run before and I thought I was ready, it turns out I was right Grin

kirinm · 02/04/2024 12:43

Woohoo! I've just done W9R3 and for the first time ever, I've finished the app! I'm going to keep going with week 9 until I'm comfortably running 30 minutes and will gradually increase.

Happierwithouthim · 02/04/2024 16:31

Woohoo kirinm you've just graduated Star

tryingcouchto5K · 04/04/2024 13:08

Well done all.

I did W5R3 yesterday. When I saw a 20 min run, I expected to run 10 minutes and walk the rest as thought the increase in minutes was too great and then I bloomin did the 20 mins!. So proud of myself, a 20 min run when W1R1 was such a challenge! Haven't lost any weight but legs do feel firmer. With the warm ups and downs, it covers 3K - 2K away from a park run!

henlake7 · 06/04/2024 10:26

ooh, well done @tryingcouchto5K 20 minutes sounds very intimidating!LOL

I just finished wk3 and TBH I cheated at the end! I ended my last 3 minute run at the far end of the graveyard (yes, I run in a graveyard) and decided ' it!' Id just keep going until I reached the entrance or ran out of steam.
I ended up running out the entrance and ran for 8 minutes in total!😱

At least I know I can do it when I get to the right week!!😆

kirinm · 06/04/2024 12:57

I just 'ran' my first post C25K run (which involved listening to a week 9 run) and spectacularly failed. Had to stop after 1km with cramp in my leg and then after starting again, mentally I checked out and only managed another 2km.

Going to have to push through and try again tomorrow.

Happierwithouthim · 06/04/2024 23:10

Disappointing kirin

Happierwithouthim · 06/04/2024 23:11

hen that's excellent

cinnamonbiscuit · 07/04/2024 08:03

Well done to all who've exceeded goals recently, looks like everyone is doing well!

I graduated yesterday 🎉 it's taken me basically 3 months but finally got there. I did something awful to my back last week but thankfully recovered quickly and I think the running is actually helping it now.

Sending energetic vibes to everyone!

Happierwithouthim · 07/04/2024 11:02

Did 2 miles. 23 min running & I couldn't do anymore, going to start W8 on Tues I'm not ready to stick with 5ks yet, will pick a Sat in a few weeks where dc are with their dad & chance park run

Happierwithouthim · 07/04/2024 11:03

Cinnamon** That's great that back trouble didn't halt your progress

henlake7 · 08/04/2024 10:54

started wk4. Did struggle at the beginning, but then I always seem to struggle to really get going!
Once Im properly into it Im fine.....so fine I didnt bother with the 5min cool down and just ran through it!
(takes me at least 15 mins to walk to where I start running so I can easily cheat on the 5min walk and still walk at the end).

Happierwithouthim · 08/04/2024 14:08

hen great to be able to do extra when you feel able.

henlake7 · 09/04/2024 11:56

TBH I think its coz I know there is a big 20 min run in wk5....Im trying to prepare myself!!LOL😄

Happierwithouthim · 10/04/2024 20:52

Running with a friend tomorrow when I used to run years ago we used to go together, it'll be my first time going with someone else since I started back. Day 4 of period so hoping legs will have a bit more energy

tryingcouchto5K · 11/04/2024 10:00

Well done all for your achievements.

Completed W6R1 two days ago, I did struggle but didn't stop. Going for W6R2 ad midday today.

For last 3 days, have been paying more attention to diet. As I am running I am imagining how much easier it would be if I were 3 stones lighter.

kirinm · 11/04/2024 10:07

I was a bit freaked out by how much I struggled with my first post c25k run so have been putting off going out again. The aim was to drop my DD at holiday club and go for a run afterwards and before work. Obviously we were running about 30 mins late so I managed to run home rather than go for an actual run. It's made me feel a bit better and I'm going to aim to run later this afternoon I think.
