Would anyone like to start C25K in the New Year that needs some time to get your head together?

I've done this before and am planning on restarting in January. I've gained some weight and lost some fitness but realistically now is not the time to start.

However I'm not one for last minute things and my head needs to get itself in the right place (and plan a diet). So with this in mind over Christmas and New Year I'm starting in January.

Anyone care to join me?

I’ve got one more run to go. I pushed myself today and done 5k, took 42 minutes.

I also want to start doing some strength exercises at home. I’m worried about injuries from running, keep getting niggles in my shin and ankle.

Got a podcast with the couch 2 5k voiceover working on my Garmin, have time to run this evening, bloody yellow rainfall warning. I'm a fair day runner, will try go tomorrow eve while dd is at horse riding

Happierwithouthim · 11/03/2024 19:50

Rain warning has been extended to 9am Wed

kirinm · 11/03/2024 19:53

Oh yuck. It's forecast for rain tomorrow here too. I missed running on Sunday because it didn't stop raining and was in the office today. I think I might have to force myself out in the rain.

tryingcouchto5K · 12/03/2024 13:21

Well done to those going out in the rain! Wet trainers must be a real pain.

I did W4 R1 last night. My music didn't work and it did feel like a big step-up but but powered on and got through the 5 mins.

kirinm · 12/03/2024 13:25

I've not gone out. I have just finished personal training and had decided I'd run after drop off tomorrow but realised I've got the dentist at 8am. I don't think I'll run until Friday now.

Excellent trying well done for powering on.

Our rain warning has been changed to an orange & ds came home from school early too so probably best if I don't leave him by himself when dd is at horse riding.

Looks like it'll be Fri morn before there's a running window again

Hi everyone, not had a good week! We’re in the middle of trying to move home, due to exchange tomorrow, so I’ve been distracted by trying to sort removals/pack/phone calls. When I did aim to get out for a run it was chucking it down with rain! Finally went out today and repeated W8R3 as found it hard work last week. Didn’t feel much better but will press on with W9 on Friday. I’m realising the importance of sticking to a routine as if I start to miss planned runs it’s the slippery slope and I’m less likely to go out. Made no progress on the strengthening exercises, I think that’s on hold now until I’ve (hopefully!) moved house!

Well done! You're nearly there and good luck for exchange too 🤞🏻

I'm just hoping I manage to finish week 8 this week. The problem with having personal training sessions which are all strength based means that I have awful DOMS most of the time which makes running hard (although also makes my legs stronger which will help with running)!

Thanks @kirinm 😊. Yes, so near!! Just feeling unfit and list my mojo this week. Too much comfort eating with the stress of the move! At least I did get out and complete the run today otherwise I would have felt really bad!! You are doing amazing to complete c25K at the same time as personal training sessions! It’s no wonder that you sometimes miss a run … I don’t have that excuse! 😅

I feel weirdly scared to run. I feel like I won't be able to do it and it's really putting me off going out.

I felt the same before I went out earlier this week. I think I lose confidence if I’ve left more than a 2 day break between runs that my body will have forgotten what to do and I’ll be back to square one, only able to run for 5mins!

You will be fine, you are a runner!

kirinm · 16/03/2024 12:15

Finally got out. W8R2. Although I added on the extra 2 mins to get to 30. Mentally that felt very tough and I took a route that I knew had one hill (up) but there were quite a few and I regretted that almost immediately!

Good luck to anyone else running this weekend.

Happierwithouthim · 16/03/2024 14:24

I went out and did W6R2 last night 8 days after my last run & it's the first time I recorded it on Garmin, 7 years ago I was running 11 min miles & yesterday my times varied from 10.45 to 11.45, I'm delighted and I felt capable of both ten min runs.

That's really good and so much faster than me. Well done!

newbeliever · 16/03/2024 16:11

Well done @kirinm @Happierwithouthim for getting out.

I’m busy packing my kitchen, it’s taken all day 😱 really feel like I ‘need’ a run to de-stress but feeling far too overwhelmed with the amount of packing to risk it. I’ll have to get up super early tomorrow to allow myself the time. Completing next Friday so this coming week is full on!

Happierwithouthim · 16/03/2024 20:25

Yikes busy times newbeliever
It's not a competition kirinm I'll never be a 5k in 30 mins kinda girl, I'm just happy to be back running & that for first time it hasn't stalled my weight loss Grin

Happierwithouthim · 17/03/2024 11:11

W6R3 done on a glorious st Patrick's day from 15-25 mins was a mental & physical struggle and I was glad to be passing a shop to rehydrate when I finished.

Phew!

kirinm · 17/03/2024 15:38

I managed W8R3 so onto week 9 now. I've also had another PT session so I doubt I'll run until weds or friiday

Freshstarts24 · 17/03/2024 18:46

I’ve ‘graduated’ done the first run of the next bit today. Does anybody know any similar plans for getting to 10k?

Well done! I am sure there are lots of training plans to go from 5k - 10k. I keep seeing 'runna' mentioned (app).

kirinm · 19/03/2024 13:32

I've had PT today and usually it's strength training but today it was running. Intervals and sprints. I've not been able to do sessions like that before so that's definitely progress.
