20 mile trail run yesterday was a slow pace so actually ok. Didn’t quite manage 10 miles today but 8 will do. Taper time yipeee!

Well done @PaddingtonPaddington

I hope you enjoy the taper, is it a two week one?

emummy · 04/08/2020 08:32

Good tempo run this morning, back to the cooler temperatures again. Exam results day here, needed to get out & distress!

emummy · 04/08/2020 08:33

De stress not distress!

PaddingtonPaddington · 04/08/2020 20:24

@Amaura 2 week taper race us on Saturday 15th.

@emummy how did the exam results go? 16 days till DDs GCSE results.

Intervals tonight, struggled to get breathing right for some reason.

emummy · 04/08/2020 21:26

Enjoy that taper Paddington; exam results are good, straight As for the younger one doing the equivalent of GCSEs, 2As and a B for older one’s advanced highers. So generally happy

IRun4Me · 05/08/2020 08:49

Glad the exam results were good emummy celebrations all round.
Nice run with a friend, was tired after a busy few days but once got going and chatting away it wasn’t too bad.

Excellent news on the exam results- well done to both your DC!

Recovery run tonight along the river, very warm but good breeze.

Lovely run in the sunshine; had an email from half marathon to say they are hopeful of going ahead in September; they’ve made some changes to the route and organisation so fingers crossed. Just looked at the route, uphill for the first half so will be making my long runs hillier!

Fell off this thread when I mostly stopped running with injury but have dipped in reading updates. Great exam results emummy hope those with GCSEs due soon are ok too. Such a crap time for teenagers, my 13yr has desperately missed her swim training the last 6mths.
I’ve been focusing on losing weight, sea swimming and hitt/yoga so minimal running but did a great 10k this morning in the drizzle which I was pleased with and hoping not to have aggregated my niggle. Plan to build from that back to my re-scheduled HM in early Nov if it still goes ahead. Also got a triathlon in mid-sept which looks like they have the go ahead...

Well done with this the children @emummy

10 mile hill rep, 7 miles with some intervals in the middle and a 0.25 mile run (turns out you really need to do your run before your workout and not after - made it to the end of the road before calling it off).

Also have reached 1000miles for the year, which I think is a first, let alone it being relatively early in the year still.

Family hols tomorrow so much less mileage predicted

PaddingtonPaddington · 06/08/2020 21:34

Glad your half is going ahead emummy

Welcome back TriSkiRun99 and hope your niggle keeps away.

Well done for getting up early IRun. I procrastinated all day before managing to get out and do a tempo 10k this evening which was a hot slog.

Amaura · 06/08/2020 21:34

I hadn’t refreshed

New mileage 119

PaddingtonPaddington · 08/08/2020 08:53

Well done Amaura on the year mileage. I just checked mine and I’m there too which is also a first for me.

Up very early to try and run before it got ridiculously hot. As a consequence it was really hard work without any breakfast first but battled on. It was still really warm. Glad to have got today’s run out of the way.

Hard, hilly but enjoyable run in the forest this morning. Really beautiful day. Out a bit later as it is DH’s 50th birthday today, so we had to do presents and cake before daughter number 1 went to work.
Scary mileage Amaura and Paddington, well done!

Warm sunny beautiful run in the countryside, lots of hills so good practice for my half.

PaddingtonPaddington · 09/08/2020 12:17

emummy 2 back to back hilly runs is definitely good training for a half.

Progressive 10k this morning. It was after breakfast so had more energy today but very humid.

IRun4Me · 09/08/2020 18:18

Impressive mileage amaura and paddington
Welcome back triskirun

Intervals this morning; was a bit unsure how it would go as not feeling at my best, but actually went well!
The half is uphill till mile 7 then down so practising similar patterns of routes.

160.2

PaddingtonPaddington · 11/08/2020 22:00

emummy your half sounds Interesting. Good to get the uphill out of the way first.

Intervals for me tonight but taking it very easy and walking the recoveries for a change.

IRun4Me · 12/08/2020 09:03

Very hot run last night, it was about 34 degrees and airless. Kept it fairly short.

Is the 50km this weekend @PaddingtonPaddington? We seem to be doing similar things this year.

We’re on our hols so not much running. Glad to be in Scotland with it being a bit cooler. Did the South Glen Shiel Ridge yesterday, 16 ish miles over 5000ft of elevation gain. Ran out of drink and forgot sun cream (it was a bit cloudy so forgot to put it on - now have a red face).

I don’t know how the proper mountain runners handle the terrain, I really struggled on the rocky descent. I’ve got a lot to learn.

183.7

emummy · 12/08/2020 14:58

Descending is a real art Amaura. I practiced it loads for my trail races. My most successful technique was a sort of gallop, like when we used to play horses in school! Also short steps & leaning forward. Can be scary on the more technical terrain! You could watch some videos of Kilian Jornet on YouTube - think he’s part mountain goat though!

emummy · 13/08/2020 08:01

Steady run this morning, cloudy and a little cooler.
