WhoDrankMyGin welcome! Advice from me would to go back to running and walking plus strength exercises and not put too pressure on yourself so you can build it back up slowly.

Agree with the running conditions rapidly changing with shorts one day and leggings the next.

6 miles on Friday in the heat and 8 this morning in blustery wind. Starting to really miss running with others and getting bored of all the routes from my house.

@PaddingtonPaddington Ditto - really miss the company.

6 miles on Saturday & 3 this morning.

Hi whodrankmygin I agree with the advice from the others. The only time I’ve ran everyday was doing RED January and kept the runs short - sometimes only running just over a mile. I normally run 3 or 4 times a week and mix up with other exercise. At the moment doing YouTube workouts and yoga.
The main thing I would say is to relax and enjoy it.

A run in the wind yesterday

Did my virtual 5km race today where have an hour and can pause your watch as much as you like. Took 52 mins and ran it in 17:34, over 10 intervals. So guessing that’s almost 2 mins on with 4 mins recoveries 😂. It’s been ages since I’ve done proper intervals 🥱

Back on normal running tomorrow

Thanks guys I'm just majorly impressed with you lot that's all.

I only managed 2.5 miles tonight. Messed my route up and then ended up in some tall grass which wore me out so I happily gave in. My pace is so much better right now though so I feel like if I keep some consistency I'll be really chuffed with myself!

Very slow jog today- just putting one foot in front of the other.
A gorgeous day though .

Cracking time Amaura and love the idea of watch pausing.

Decided to mix it up a bit this week, workout last night, 30 min lunch run and 2 mile walk this evening (now we’re allowed out as much as we like to exercise) followed by core strength.

The relief at knowing I can pop home for a loo break or don’t have to worry about walking the kids and having a run is enormous. Also means they won’t get dragged out with me as much.

Sensible slow 5 miles tonight

Easy run in the sun this morning, still feeling the effects of last night’s boxercise!

Amaura · 14/05/2020 17:37

A lovely 9 miles heading up the hill and home again.

Also still feeling the effects of previous exercise, not sure about circuits later

Progression run in the sun this morning, milder today so shorts and T-shirt again, hurray!

Bit of a milestone run for me today, combined 20 miles with my more hilly run and managed to include a full set of 6 ascents (have been hovering around 5.5 & 18 miles on that route)

Felt stronger on the flats but tired going up, so will keep upping weekly mileage as planned but rest the hamstrings and stick to flatter trails for a bit.

I’ve got my eye on a 30 mile trail run and perhaps a virtual road marathon but haven’t set ‘dates’ in my head yet

Was supposed to run yesterday but just felt bleh, so stayed home and drank loads (non alcoholic) instead.

Great running emummy and Amaura

I’ve carried on this week mixing it up a bit with a family bike on Thursday, quick 10k run Friday, 12 mile bike with DH sat eve and a half marathon this morning plus a few miles cool down as had gone a new route and under estimated the mileage. Garmin watch has broken but borrowed DHs as a substitute but it’s far too complicated and I miss my simple one!

Still getting out there. Also doing bike rides, walks and indoor workouts.
Nice run yesterday morning. Did keep seeing people and ended up stopping to chat so took longer than intended.

5 miles yesterday in the wind and rain. I spent most of the winter on a bike in the gym due to a foot injury so I'm delighted to be running again. (As is DH - I'm shorter of temper when I'm not running!)

sauvignonblancplz · 18/05/2020 13:56

Didn’t get too far today but nice to get out . @PaddingtonPaddington that’s some going , it’s great getting out on the bike too. I found it’s really helped my knee that was a bit twingy.

Amaura · 18/05/2020 23:15

Awesome effort there @PaddingtonPaddington

Gentle 10km for me tonight (and I might have skipped circuits this weekend). I really just relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed it. That time of night where the temperature has just turned and most people are inside.

@Stingynettle it’s great you were able to keep up your general fitness, hopefully it will start paying off now

I’ve got a friend who wants to go running but (a) I don’t trust you can actually keep 2m and (b) he’s been out with 6 other people over the last week alone. Think I upset his feelings but I want to reintroduce people a bit more gradually, maybe someone whose seen less people or meet out on the trail rather than the whole run.

282.4

emummy · 19/05/2020 08:28

That sounds perfectly reasonable Amaura! I can’t believe he’s been out with so many people!
Stingynettle glad you’re getting back out, hope the weather improves! Nice day here today, interval run, went well but I had made a mistake programming my watch so had to redo it halfway through.

286.9

sauvignonblancplz · 19/05/2020 08:47

@Amaura I think that’s perfectly understandable.

As things start to ease it will take some getting use to.
It’s brilliant when you get a run you enjoy.

Stingynettle · 19/05/2020 23:25

An easy 3 miles this evening. Lovely and warm.

Not sure I've managed to maintain my general fitness but it's not completely fallen off the edge of a cliff!

Adding my Sunday miles as I forgot to add them on Sunday.

294.9

IRun4Me · 20/05/2020 07:37

Amaura I don’t blame you being cautious. We haven’t changed anything really since the rules relaxed but I do have asthma so won’t be rushing to meet other people.
Nice run with DS yesterday. Went early but was warm already

@Amaura totally agree with your thinking. I’ve not run with anyone else since the loosening of rules of the lockdown though I’ve seen quite a few from my running club this week on Strava have been doing socially distanced runs. Honestly my brain is slow to react when I’m running so highly likely to forget or get close by accident plus I’d want to chat as I’ve hardly seen anyone and the running would suffer!

Short recovery run Monday followed by strengthening exercises, bike ride Tuesday with DH and pyramid session this evening.

Easy run this morning, lovely and warm.

IRun4Me · 21/05/2020 08:44

Lovely run with DS before it got too warm.
Went on a route haven’t been for a while. Used to see 1 maybe 2 people, today we saw about 15. I wonder if it will stay like that once everything is open again

Easy run this morning. First time in ages I've been out early. Need to do more of that!
