I wonder Panticus. Great you’ve got some trails nearby

I did a 15 miles on trail today, last 5 miles were tiring but that was the point. Now the paths have dried up I got a route I’ve not done in ages. Less hills though. Got a chance to see some cool little birds (now there’s less people around), a pair of red kites up close and my first lambs of the year. Alas nothing more exotic than that.

I’m wondering emummy whether to switch my training to focus on a speedier shorter distance. This was the wrong year to go long😂

Wow those trails look like a beautiful environment to be in right now.

Did 2 miles again tonight but a muscle in my groin was hurting so a fair bit of it was walking! Read up that it could be due to overuse Hmm I can only think it's from doing the bloody p.e. workout on YouTube with the kids! I hope it's gone by Tuesday I really want to get into a rhythm with this now.

For how long (time) is everyone running at the moment?

France has restricted runs to 60 minutes and Gove said a 60 minute walk or 30 minute run was acceptable.

Amaura · 30/03/2020 19:02

Gove quoted an example of what was a typical amount for most people - it was not a limit.

I’m running pretty the much the same amount of time I have been in previous weeks. For me, I only meet other people leaving and entering my village, so the duration is a moot point - my exposure is the same regardless

WaitingforToto · 30/03/2020 20:43

Hi all, I hope you are all keeping safe and sane. I fell off the thread again so am adding my mileage for March now. I've found it difficult to get out with the complications of working from home with an 18-month old 🤪 but am hoping to get into a better routine now the evenings are lighter.

Zampa · 30/03/2020 21:18

Thanks Amaura. I thought Gove's times were rules rather than suggestions so it's a relief to hear it's not a max 30 minutes.

Amaura · 30/03/2020 21:54

Some people are being quite zealous in their interpretations, so it’s worth being sure zampa There is a bbc news article on it (but can’t find it right now).

Just remember we’re not average 😂

Hello Toto

Day 1 of my 5k training, nice interval run in sunshine & showers, complete with rainbow.

Nice run this morning in the sun. I was able to join a track further along it - normally the road is way to busy to run down so that made a change.
Do find it funny how I can run for a mile and not see anyone and then catch up with the slow dog walker and the runner coming the other way all at the same spot so then having to do a 3 way distancing.

Squirrels, kites and pheasants sound very exotic to me Grin Nice job everyone on the runs. Over here there is no talk of limits on exercise but I've seen lots of posts on MN with people getting very worked up about people exercising and I'm scared the same kind of views will take hold here.

I went for a nice easy run this morning - it was an absolute cracker of a day.

I am grateful to be living a small town with lots of quiet places to run so I can avoid people, hopefully that will make me less likely to get any hassle from others about running. Going early in the morning helps too. So far everyone I have met has smiled & said hello, which is how it normally is here so I hope that won’t change.

Amaura · 31/03/2020 20:50

3.5 very slow miles

Was assuming it would be a tempo run but was still too tired from the weekend (plus two long days at work)

Brutal virtual club hill session, hard up and easy down with warm up and cool down. Started off thinking it was going to be cold but the sun was out and despite a chilly breeze ended up taking gloves off, then headband, then extra top and was so overheated by the time I got home!

Felt mild here tonight and the night air smelt so good. Finally got back to 3 miles so I'm going to make sure I go back out on Thursday to get a rhythm.

I think the internet is egging people on over competitive lockdown. I can feel quite paranoid because of people's anger and photos on Facebook of things that I think are fine and within the restrictions. I would be blissfully ignorant if I didn't spend so much time online!

A steady 5.4 for me last night, I'll try to remember to take some snaps on my next run. I'm doing some HIIT workouts at home during the day and enjoying them, and I think it's improving my stamina a bit.

Please do take a picture Toto - it would be lovely to see where everyone is running

Amaura · 02/04/2020 19:29

Nice steady 9 mile road for me today. Calves are suffering a bit still so lots of rolling. At least it’s recovery week for me

@emummy beautiful photo.

Quick 8 miles much needed after sitting at my desk all day. Had one of those runs where I just zoned out and admired all the scenery and was peaceful due to the lack of traffic.

Panticus · 02/04/2020 21:34

That's beautiful emummy. I'd love to see more pics from everyone Smile

I had a very uninspired run on the treadmill last night. I'm suffering a bit with motivation - I'm a real gym bunny and am missing my classes and gym friends so much! I'm trying to replicate the workouts at home with some dumbbells and a plate but it's just not the same.

Anotherthink · 02/04/2020 22:33

Lovely morning emummy. I can't take a photo as it's always dark when I'm running! I seem to manage better in the dark as there are no distractions. Maybe I need blinkers for daytime running.

Really enjoyed tonight's run, it was a bit too warm but so nice to feel some sun. Hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

That looks lovely Toto!

IRun4Me · 04/04/2020 08:42

That looks lovely toto
Went for a run yesterday afternoon. My normally quiet route was absolutely packed, usually at that time I might see a couple of people on the streets and then maybe a dog walker when get to the off road bit. Luckily we went off on a little known path and had some peace. But it is so flat around here and you can see for miles, I’m worried people will have see me and think that looks a good place for a stroll and my secret will be gone.

Progression run along the river this morning. So lucky right now to be living in a little rural town, I can generally find quiet routes to run, either in town or in the country roads. Hope your secret routes stay safe IRun!
